This is the second installment of my Calyara series called...
Calyara: Cloak and Dagger

1568 years ago, a band of heroes defeated an arch-magi named Farieth Zaren. He was a mad man that was attempting to commit genocide on all inhuman races. Ironically his dream came true hundreds of years after his death. The newly formed Calyaran government made great scientific progress. Using Zaren’s flying machine, the Dwarves created planes. The Orcs discovered explosives, the Humans automobiles and the Aivons started to research psychic abilities, it was considered a Golden Age. Until, one summer at the uninhabited island of Kael, the Dark Elves tested the first Atomic Bomb. The sheer destructive force of this new weapon sent the world leaders into a state of fear, a state of fear. Scientists were ordered to begin constructing their own A-Bombs and the more bombs that were built the more fear spread, until fear became paranoia and nuclear war began. War eventually escalated to a holocaust, one that plagued the world of Calyara for two years. The world lost the Fellion, the Dwarves, the Dark Elves and most breeds of Lizard Men during this short time. Eventually the world leaders realised there was no victory if the war continued the very planet would die and no one would survive. On January 1st 1AH, a treaty was signed and all nuclear weapons were destroyed never to be used again. Afterwards the Humans, High Elves and Wood Elves started project ROGER or Research Of Genetically Engineered Races. ROGER’s sole purpose was to bring back the races that the holocaust took away. The date is January 4th 87 AH, the Calyaran government has just completed their new division of special operations to protect it’s citizens from new threats, when it is actually a very old threat waiting on the horizon.

Races:
Humans: The Humans are one of the only races that survived the Nuclear Holocaust. Like the Aivons, Humans seem to have above average Psychic abilities. Humans are found everywhere doing everything and seem to adapt faster then other races.
Average: Height; 5’6’’ Age; 28

Orcs: Tall, green, muscular with dark hair the Orcs are one of the tougher races. Being so tough is what got them through the holocaust and their love for explosives didn’t hurt either. Orcs have gotten overall smarter recently and their average IQ is about equal to that of a Human.
Average: Height; 7’2’’ Age; 36

Aivons: Aivons look human except for their wings and feet, their feet are more birdlike then human. The Aivons survived the wars by completely avoiding them, recently a number of Aivons have been researching space travel to escape the other “suicidal” races.
Average: Height; 6’2’’ Age; 60

Dragon Men: The last surviving breed of Lizard Men these Dragon Men are tall, covered with thick scales and have large leathery wings. They sometimes have spikes, horns and other physical attributes but unlike dragons, can not breath fire or other elements. They are best known for their love of melee combat and their unique healing abilities.
Average: Height; 7’2’’ Age; 100+

Tekra: The machine race of the Tekra have “evolved” to be more human-like in shape. They are still made of metal but move more gracefully, they also have less metallic voices and faster reflexes. They enjoy getting custom paint jobs to add individuality and style.
Average: Height; 5’10’’ Age; 40

High Elves: The High Elves were the last race to give up magic and have been described as being stubborn in many respects. They are fair skinned, and usually have light coloured eyes. They will usually find a way around combat leaving it as a ‘last resort’, but even though they avoid combat they can be quite skilled warriors.
Average: Height; 5’9’’ Age; 95

Wood Elves: Although they no longer live in forests, they still go by Wood Elf in honor of their ancestors. Because of their amazing eyesight Wood Elves make the best Snipers, and because of their light bones they can easily move around silently. Wood Elf bones have almost scaffolding in them making them just as strong but lighter and more flexible. Scientists think this evolution came from centuries of living in trees.
Average: Height; 5’2’’ Age; 90

Magic:
Although Magic is no longer used it is still a great part of Calyaran culture, history and mythology. There are a few people here and there (about one in one-thousand) that use Magic but it’s fading out in favor of powers of the mind. Here are the three common types of Magic.

Elfeirum: This magic centers around combat and destruction, Elfeirum is hard to learn and takes the most willpower to use. It still takes ingredients to cast but only a command word is needed instead of a whole chant. As the name implies, only those with elven blood can use this magic.

Clericalism: Clericalism is mostly healing and defending but with Clericalism you can also construct elaborate illusions. Cleric Magic is the easiest to learn but still takes allot of willpower. Clericalism takes ingredients and physical contact to heal more serious wounds. (like broken bones/missing limbs) Trained Clerics have found ways to create physical illusions that will break down after too much damage.

Spirit craft: Spirit magic or “Summoning” is the calling of spirits, demons or creatures to fight for you or empower you. Spirit magic takes no power of your own but is the hardest to master. You have to have destroyed or captured a spirit to summon it later, or you must of destroyed it’s master. This is the absolute least used magic because a demon hasn’t been seen for almost 400 years.

Mental Abilities:
Almost everyone on Calyara embraces psychic abilities, they are extremely diverse from anything like speaking telepathically to changing your own body’s molecular structure. Although scientists can’t explain it Humans and Aivons seem to have naturally more powerful psychic abilities then other races.

Telepathy: Telepathy is used to reach into another’s mind to make them see, think, hear or possibly even do something. Rumors say that powerful psychics can actually control another person. The government has of course silenced these rumors by saying that through their research they have proven that ones mind can not become that strong through natural means.

Telekinesis: Telekinesis is the art of moving the world around you with your mind. Pushing, pulling, lifting and throwing are basic abilities for a telekinetic. However like physical labor fatigues your body, telekinesis fatigues your mind. Your ability determines the size, weight, speed and number of objects you can manipulate.

Pyrokinesis: Pyrokinesis, the most violent psychic ability one can use. Pyrokinesis allows the user to create and control “mental fire” which harms the mind as much as the body. Pyrokinetics can also speed up the molecules of mater to heat it up to extreme levels if their concentration isn’t broken.

Cryokinesis: This psychic is a close relative to Pyrokinesis. Cryokinetics can slow down molecules in any form of matter causing the selected objects temperature to go down. If a Cryokinetic concentrates they can actually freeze the air around them to form peices of ice. Powerful Cryokinetics have been able to actually stop a fire by cooling it down, they are an equal match to Pyrokinetics.

Psychometabelism: The longest name for a psychic ability and the rarest of all. This ability allows you to change the molecular structure of your own body. In doing this you can stretch, change shape slightly, even do something like temporarily make your skin steel. If a Psychometabelist becomes powerful enough they can use their powers on things other then themselves.

Magnakinesis: Magnakinesis is the ability to create and alter magnetic fields, in doing this a Magnakinetic can bend steel like tinfoil. The main use for Magnakinetics in public is construction, however the military uses them for special opps and infiltration. Their powers can be extremely dangerous to themselves and those around them if not trained properly.

Elements:
The six elements are the core of all magic, they are: Earth, Wind, Water, Fire, Light and Dark. They each have there own strengths and weaknesses however when used in the right combination they are nearly unstoppable. Some speculate that psychic abilities are also used by tapping into the Elements but nothing has been proven.

RP Rules:
In this RP you can control random NPCs and other characters to an extent. You can make up NPCs that aren’t crucial to the plot like... Bob the Builder, Fred your ol’ buddy, some drunk in a bar, or family you might have. I won’t accept spam posts like “lol tht wuz da bom”
I’m not a perfect speller myself but I would like at least good spelling not this. “bob wnt to teh sho nd kild a gy” anyone can do better than that. I also don’t want “I c u” or “n e ways” during in character posts, however you can do that in OOC (Out Of Context) posts. I retain the right to kick you out for God Modding, flaming, spamming or being just plain dumb.

Character:
Here is the Character Sheet I want you to use. You can just post your character sheet, and I’ll PM you either to clear it or point out any problems there may be.

Name: (Your name)
Race: (Your race)
Age: (How old you are)
Sex: (Gender of your character)

Notes:
Half humans are more common now and can be half Elf, (wood or high) half Orc, or Half Aivon. Some other hybrids exist now as well although they are rare. Dragons are extinct by this point and any remaining scales or bones are highly valuable and sought after. It’s current technology (more or less) in this RP except for some secret government projects. You will be part of an elite team sent to take care any threats to the Calyaran government and it’s citizens. You did not have to be in the first Calyara to play this RP, and if anyone from the original wants to know how it was supposed to end I’ll PM you. If you are a Dragon Man it’s possible you were alive for the holocaust and remember it well. Your skills can be what ever you want as long as you clear them with me beforehand. Any questions at all, do not hesitate to PM me.

Tanis: your character's fine now.

Anubis: I'll be PMing you.
EDIT: You're character is fine now Anubis, thanks for fixing that.

Vhae: yeah, I guess you're the second person that was planning on being one of the races that died :p

LQ: I've sent you a PM, I have a few more ideas that should work for your character

Alec
11-26-2006, 11:20 PM
Name: Alec Toratelli

Race: Dragon Man

Age: 115

Sex: Male

Description: Alec looks mainly like a 7 foot tall, 270 pound human, save for the medium leather wings, scarred due to earlier attempts to try and become an avion in his earlier years. His skin is reddish and is rather tough with small hornlets growing out of his jaw curved downward in a rather distinguished looking beard. A tail sprouts out from his hindend with four short nailish spikes at the end. A Heavily Modified Semi Automatic Pistol is almost always in a holster on his left hip.

Specialty: Assault/Recon,

Inventory: Blaze Gun (M1911 .45 caliber pistol http://tri.army.mil/LC/CS/csi/sam1911.jpg fires highly explosive rounds requiring religious care and cleaning of the weapon to prevent....accidents, the weapon itself is modified to be inherently silent,giving the basic effect as a silencer, although the explosive rounds make quite a ruckus as well as delivering a firey surprise to the one who is shot when it hits)
Other Equipment such as Night Vision Goggles, radio, Combat Knife he carries near his bed, anything else he can usually get before leaving on a mission

Skills: Pyrokinetic Skilled in close quarters combat and marksmanship, his claws giving him the advantage of never being without a weapon.

Bio: Alec was born April 22 27BH, and was 26 when the war began and 28 when it finished. He lost his entire family to the war and as a result hated it with a vengeance, running away eventually to the disdain of his fellow dragon men, to a city of the avions, disguising himself as a casualty of the war and causing a sympathetic avion family to accept him. He grew much of his life among the avions and as a result grew hateful towards his heritage, eventually going to the point of trying to slice his wings to shreds, loss of blood eventually overcame him though and he never did it again but the scars remain on his wings. He trained hard as a Pyrokinetic, hoping he could train hard enough that one day he would make a difference.

Anubis: Yes there was, I'll dig up the link. I have most of it summarized on the first page but you don't have to read it to play this RP. However it might give you some insight into the story's history.

EDIT: Here's the link to the original Calyara http://www.warboards.org/showthread.php?t=8885 anyone that wants to can read the info from it as well.

kongurous
11-27-2006, 9:53 PM
Name: Gork Thraka
Race: Orc
Age: 39
Sex: Male
Description: Gork wears black pants made of fire-retardant material and a sleeve-less 'wife beater' shirt that's been stained with sweat, grease, and gunpowder residue. His belt is laden with tools for making explosives and he carries a flask of nitroglycerin in a specially-crafted magical container so it won't blow up from the motion, heat, or other elements.
Specialty: Demolitions
Inventory: A large pistol for close-ranged combat and usually a grenade or four, and goggles to block out light from fire and explosions. He also carries around a case of cigars.
Skills: N/A
Bio: Gork was born in a large Orcish city to a family of demolitionists. He grew up with a bomb in one hand and a wrench in the other, always trying to find ways to perfect his technique of manufacturing explosives and how to make stuff go boom in a spectacular way. Because of this, he isn't exactly book smart from his lack of an education beyond explosives. He's literate, but can't speak too well.

As a typical Orc, he likes fire, explosions, and going fast, but not in that order. In fact, the only he likes more than going fast is going fast while blowing things up, so rockets are his specialty. He also a penchant for cigars and is usually found smoking one.

His flask is a bit of an oddity that he rarely discusses. Most come up with an origin, but to those who know him best, they know the true story of it, which is, it was originally made to keep various alcoholic beverages cool. Now it's used to store explosives.

Protoss_Honor
11-27-2006, 10:50 PM

He has two 3 inch long white horns with a purplish crimson tint and a slightly noticable curve outward. He has two legs and two feet with 6 clawed toes on each foot. He comes equipped with the standard two Dragon Man arms. He has 5 clawed fingers on his left hand and is missing one on his right. He has an almost 4 foot long tail with a double line of 1 inch dull horns that starts at the base of his tail and slowly join into one line as his tail narrows. And he has large powerful wings. His wingspan when fully expanded is 20 feet of sheer muscle.

Specialty: Melee, Psychic, close-up assassination
Inventory: a titanium mace with sort of glove that fits over the last 6 inches of his tail and packs a wicked thwak. He has a mat-black plastic one for covert operations. He also has an assualt rifle that fires 4 round burst and holds 44 rounds per magazine. He has standard military armor except that it is slightly more flexible than usual.

Skills: Magnakinesis and melee combat. Specificly hand to hand, although he does have slightly intermediate skills at most all weapons. Assassination.

Bio: Like his ancestors before him all the way up to Tragoes Lekr I the Mighty, Karlas is a melee fighter. He was trained in the art of claw to claw since he figured out that that thing waving around in front of his face was his hand, and that he was the one waving it. He is an expert in 10 different forms of martial arts and hand to hand combat. He knows about 19 different ways to kill a person that most other people would never thing of. He is a highly trained melee assassin. He is also very adept at Magankenisis. He is the son of Tragoes Lekr III. He lost his pinky finger on his right hand sparring against his aforementioned father. He kept it from regenerating in rememeberance of the lesson he learned losing it. He proudly carries the name Lekr as Tragoes Lekr I was one of the ones who died defeating Farieth Zaren. As such, he is known through most of the Dragon Man community as a son of Tragoes.

Name: Tha’Caelas Aerthar

Race: Wood Elf

Age: 90

Sex: Male

Description: At 5’4”, Cael is relatively tall for a Wood Elf. He wears dark camouflaged pants and a black, light woven vest during missions, while preferring jeans and casual shirts when off duty. The wood elf ties his long brown hair into a ponytail, while the characteristic fair skin of his race is somewhat darker and rougher due to the nature of his profession.

Speciality: Sniping

Inventory: Cael’s standard weapon for missions is the HK MSG90. When necessary, he can also use his Glock 18 sidearm and a knife in case of melee combat, which although he is proficient at, it isn’t his strength. In case of missions where military equipment is required to be destroyed instead, Cael will use a M82A1 sniper rifle instead of his MSG90.

Skills: Recon, back up, sniper, basic cyrokinesis

Bio: Born into a large family of well off wood elves Tha’Caelas, or Cael as he prefers, lived a life filled with the legends and stories of his ancestors. At night, his mother would often read to him heroic deeds accomplished mighty wood elf rangers, so skilled in archery that they could thread a needle with a bow at 50 paces. Cael thrived off these tales of good versus evil, and at a young age began to mimic the actions of his heroes, often causing more trouble than good with his toy bow and arrows. Nevertheless, as the young elf grew up, it seemed he had become less and less attached to the folklore of his people. Life for the Aerthar family went on.

However, to the chagrin on his parents, Cael enlisted in the Calyaran Armed Forces as soon as he had graduated from high school. Naturally, the wood elven skill for ranged combat had bred true in the young Aerthar, and he was quickly accepted and turned out to be a inexperinenced but gifted sniper.

Name: Damien Arch-Angel
Race: half avian, half elf
Age: unknown
Sex: male
Description: White hair and eyes, and his bright white wings that do sustain flight and the pointed ears of his elven heritage.
Specialty: Scouting, Hand to hand combat, assasinations
Inventory: He wears standard combat fatigues and a cloak that covers his wings, The cloak is inlaid with carbon fiber and although it will not stop bullets it will stop blades. On the bottom end of the cloak are small blades tipped with poison. He carries throwing knives on him most of the time and fights with forarm snapp blades in holsters along his wrists
Skills: his power is based in the realm of fire. being a pyrotechnic catches people off guard seing as he is bird like and should fear it sometimes.
Bio: You know I really don't put much into these and not that much i can think of for this one either. His wings are his pride and joy and he spends lots of time between missions pruning them. He hates enclosed spaces and will probably loose his mind if his wings get dammeged resulting in a psykic snap of sorts. He'll go crazy and come out of it with some sort of twist... <hint, hint...>

Name: Pyro
Race: Human
Age: 23
Sex: Male
Description: 6'0" 150 lb. Flame Camo Pants, Black Long Sleeve Under Armour, Black Combat Boots. Short blond hair, green eyes.
Specialty: Distraction
Inventory: Lighter (for his cigarettes - had problems lighting them without), Pack of cigarettes, M-9 Pistol
Skills: Pyrokinetics
Bio: As a child, Pyro was...different. For the longest time, he had the ability to get his parents to give him things without speaking. But after a while, he was found to be highly Pyrokinetic, which puzzled everyone, who had all but wrote him off as a strict telepath.

On his 16th birthday, Pyro was forced to join the military, his father being a retired general. All his life he knew discipline; all his life, he knew pain. The military was nothing new. He listened to orders, he did what he was told, and he was never insubordinate. He was one of the best soldiers the military had in many years. He always knew of his Pyrokinetic skill, but never had an opportunity to use it. Still, Pyro was nearly insane due to his powers, and relished the thought of setting enemies on fire. Thus, he never passed Squad Leader, simply because he was one of the crazy leaders who lead from the front, throwing fireballs at the enemy while his squad got into position.

Still, on his 22nd birthday, he was promoted to special ops, where he's been ever since. Pyro dropped his previous name and took up the name 'Pyro' to show that he wasn't to be fucked with.

Eraisuithon's usual attire is a body suit resembling latex except is is more loose fitting and is made from a material specially developed by his human father who was a extremely accomplished Psychometabelistic psychic. He could in fact transform other materials.

Specialty: Eraisuithon gained his Psychometabelistic abilities from his father. While he is not nearly as accomplished as his father, he can easily at a moments notice harden his skin so it is not able to be cut by most materials. On the other side, he adopted his combat abilities from his mother who like most wood elves could see extremely well and was proficient with a sniper rifle.

Inventory: Eraisuithon carries a three piece sniper rifle which he can assemble in seconds due to extensive practice, it is light weight and he wears it strapped to his leg. He is proficient with this due to his wood elf. As a shorter range weapon he uses custom dual mx-293s which were custom made to have ancient wood elf markings on the handles and barrel. On his right hip he wears a combat knife which he has mastered the ability to use as a throwing knife.

Skills: Eraisuithon is a Psychometabelist he hasn't mastered stretching or increasing his size, however he is naturally flexible due to his wood elf nature, this he can augment slightly with his abilities, he can also harden his skin to a material which is extremely difficult to cut by many materials. Still however he tries to avoid letting swords contact him. He is also highly proficient with sniper rifle, and quick to draw with his custom dual mx-293's, and extremely stealthy when needed to be.

Bio:
Eraisuithon grew up in a small village which housed many wood elf and human alike. this is how his mother and father met. His father was renowned throughout the land for his highly enhanced Psychometabelistic abilities, he was one of few that could actually manipulate objects other then his own. This fame came at a grave price however four days after Eraisuithon joined the military his father was assassinated by people unknown to the military.
It was his 20th birthday when he joined the military. five days later he applied for a special ops team to hunt what he thought was an apparent unknown evil.

Col. Alexander Parkinson
Safe house
Ten

The sun had just risen over the hills that dotted the area where his safe house, his home was located. The Colonel was currently drying sweat off his forehead from his morning run and headed into his bathroom to quickly wash off. A short shower later and he was in his room, at his closet removing his uniform. He put it on, alternating semi-frequently between using his hands and his mind to do so. It wasn't that he did this to keep his mind tuned, he rather treated his mind like an extension of his body and used it whenever it was conveinient. Like most things his ability was a tool, one that was very useful and one that he was always ready to use if needed.

With his clothes on his strapped his 10-milimeter pistol to his theigh: It was another tool, almost as much a part of him as his very leg, and he never went somewhere without it. "Professional Paranoia" as many generals he had spoken to called it. They said that if anyone lives long enough to reach anything higher then major they've got to be paranoid, or someone might actually get the best of them. Parkinson didn't see it that way. He had been in special ops since he finished boot-camp, he knew that technically he didn't exist and that if he didn't defend his existance no one else would. Then again maye it was paranoia afterall.

Finally he went to his dresser where a single black glove sat, looking over his left hand carefully, he covered it with the glove and left the room.

It was raining by the time he reached the base, the thick sheets of rain were only matched by the thicker grey fog, which made the tall buildings appear as vicious spikes emerging from Calyara itself. Entering the base he was met by a young man holding some paperwork.

"Colonel Parkinson sir? The General requested I give these to you." He seemed nervous, obviously uncomfortable in Alexander's presence, so the Colonel took the folder and dismissed the man quickly as to not prolong his agony. The man saluted and walked off down one of the many halls that honeycombed through the maze-like base. Alexander glanced over the pages as he walked: They were mostly intelligence reports on currently active radical groups. Nothing he hadn't seen before, and thus not exactly what he had put his squad together for. The General was holding out on him, he wasn't surprised really... but he wasn't pleased either.

He closed the folder and headed into his office where he deposited the papers into a fileing cabnet behind his desk and left again. He had no real use for an office, he did little paperwork - as the less stored information the better in his line of work - and didn't spend any time sitting behind a desk. He checked his watch [06:46:58], The first of his transfers should be arriving any minute now

(OOC) Not much to actually work with I know, but you can post arriving at the base, unpacking your things (unless you live nearby already) and interacting in the mess hall, gym or just the hallways. Then make your way to some random briefing room onbase where I'll post again. I want you to take this time to interact with eachother and get some character development before the first mission. Most of all have fun. (OOC)

Greetings Alexander came the reply he wasn't expecting. Angel had been waiting for hours and the dear Colonel never did keep his room locked, probably for the lack of anything in it but he didn't care. Occasionally they both did this to each other to test themselves. Well, more like the Colonel wanted him to keep pushing himself and not the other way around.

The Colonel swung swiftly grabbing the pistol and pointing. It took almost a hlf a second for the two to get into attack positions. As the pistol came he brought up an open palm twisted the hand pushing hard on the nervers in it the colonel plummeted. Unfortunately for angel he wasn't quick enough to see the upward sweep. he was still holding onto the wrist when he was inverted and placed on the floor pistol to his neck. He wasn't sure how he had switched hands just then but the blades attached to his wrists were working just fine as they were sitting near the jugular..

"Good draw sir." Angel said as he got up and saulted. Alexandar returned the salute. "Whats the mission they have for us on this fine miserablyy wet day?"

Gork Thraka
In the city
im in ur rp, bein late to the meetin
********

Gork Thraka, explosive extraordinaire and heavy smoker, was busy. Not your typical busy, either, but busy with something extremely dangerous if used as directed, and a death sentence if you were irresponsible with it. Just like most Orcs liked it, he reasoned. He wiped his brow with an old rag, grabbed a wrench, and went back to his work.

You see, Gork was the head of a small work team making new explosives for the military. The team was composed completely of Orcs, and while they had a good record of making reliable, albeit lacking in subtlety, explosives, this was one of the times they were just cobbling something together.

The explosive in question was essentially a gigantic incendiary bomb. They were putting the finishing touches on it, and about to detonate it, and this entire project was making Gork forget he had an important meeting today. Not really caring for anything not immediately on their minds, the six Orcs continued in their work.

A few minutes later, Gork announced they were finished (whether or not they really were was another matter entirely), and put an unlit cigar in his mouth as he backed away from the bomb with his team. He took the detonator, put his goggles over his eyes, and a big smile curled across his face.

"Fire in da 'ole!" he shouted out, and pressed the detonate button.

What followed next was a bit of an oddity, even to people not caught up in the firestorm. A gigantic cyclone of flame shot straight up into the air, burning through the steel roof of the workshop and going up ever higher into the air, scraping the low atmosphere and causing an immense amount of heat within the workshop. Suddenly, it all ended, and as Gork dusted the ash off his goggles, he saw their outlines on the wall not outlined in smoke, and his cigar lit, along with most of his team looking about in wonderment.

"Anyone still got dere eye brows?" Gork asked, and laughed.

"Not sure, boss." one of the other Orcs, Gork couldn't tell who, replied.

"Hey boss!" another Orc yelled out.

"W'at is it?" Gork said, looking over to the one who had addressed him.

"It looks like you had an appointment with a Colonel Alexander Parkinson today."

"Oh right, him. I remember. Go get me wash cloth, I need'z to be presentable and da like."

"Yes, boss." the Orc said, and went off to fulfill his master's needs.

Gork took the goggles off his face, took a deep drag of his cigar, and took off his shirt. He wringed out all the soot and ash, and put it back on, though the color had barely changed. The other Orc returned with a damp cloth, which Gork took and wiped off his exposed body with. He cracked his knuckles and the tendons in his neck, fastened his Belt O' Tools®, and went out into the city to find this office of Mr. Alexander Parkinson.

Wandering for what felt like long hours without an explosion, Gork finally got the idea of trying to read the directions. Unfortunately, he wasn't very literate. He finally decided to just say, "Screw it," and then heard the sounds of a fight emanating from a strangely unmarked house. Fitting a small explosive to the lock and blowing it off, Gork ran in to watch the spectacle.

OOC: btw, this means Hawk's character needs some new locks :P

Dieter shut the door behind himself, sealing out the terrible weather. He was a little wet from a sprinkling of rain, but was otherwise unharmed and ready for service. He had been transferred, but to what unit and for what mission he really did not know yet. He shuffled his feet a little to clear the mud. The camo field tunic and battle pack were stuffed full of his personal equipment. He decided to head for the mess hall and grab some chow. He spotted a trooper carrying some papers between doors.

"Hey mack, where's the chow hall?" Asked Dieter.

"Down the hall to your left, sir." Replied the man.

Dieter headed towards the cafeteria.

"Name sir?" asked the wood elf at the vistor entrance gate.
"Imahara," I answer scratching my scales immpataintly. I flew here to be early to the the meeting. Now all the time I saved not takeing a bus was going to be lost to the military red tape.

"Can I see your ID sir?" the elf ask. I sigh and dig around in my pockets till I found my ID card. The picture on it must have been a year old. Geeze the spikes down my back were still only a few inchs long in it. "Sir i need to see your flight license and registration," he ask handing my back my card. "What? Thats not required to get on base!" I reply.

"I'm sorry sir you have a mark on your record about a confrontation with an Orc. We need all your ID and to run a background check. It should only take a few hours," he says in a bored voice.

"A few hours? I got a meeting in 30 minutes!" I yell. A few people the other line glance over. "Call Col. Alexander. He can vouch for me," i say with strained control. My claws were already leaveing a mark in the desk. "Very well sir if you will just have a seat I will make the call."

"Don't worry you two I got it!" I exclaimed as the phone rang in the Colonels room.

The two almost simultaneously said "How did you get in here?"

"Front door I." I remarked with a smirk on my face, I always did enjoy sneaking up on people like that. "Its for you Colonel. Something about a Lizardman and some front gate troubles."

The Colonel went over to the phone as I began to converse with the avian man.

"How did you really get in here?" The avian asked me.

"Well you see I was heading down to the briefing room and I heard a bit of a struggle in here, so I decided that I best check it out. Thats when I cam in here to realize that you were merely playing for lack of a better word. So I figured I'd surprise you two and answer the phone." I explained to him.

Pyro wiped the sweat from his brow, letting it pool into his hand. Moments later, there was a puff of mist as the sweat boiled away from his hand. Chuckling maniacally, Pyro launched a fireball at a tree near him.

Watching the tree light up, it was like christmas early. Of course, he always thought that, doing the exact same thing every morning after his 5 mile run. And, like every morning, he had the hose ready to go as soon as the fireball left his fingers. Hoisting the firehose, he planted himself on the ground and opened the pressurized nozzle. The kick from the hose never ceased to surprise him, nearly sending him back into the air like every morning.

Once his fire was out, he turned away from the smoking husk of a tree, and completed his 5 mile run with the customary 2 mile sprint. After a mile, he warmed up a fireball in his hand and began playing catch with it as he sprinted. He got many stares as he ran, but no one said anything to him anymore - they see the same thing every morning.

Dropping the fire into the bucket of water he had sitting outside his door, Pyro went into his house. Stripping off, he climbed into the shower. Turning it as cold as possible, he smiled. Enveloping himself in a warm pocket, the bathroom filled with steam, as if he were taking a hot shower.

Getting out of the shower, he walked through the house, heat drying himself as he did. When he got into his bedroom - still nude - he was completely dry. Putting on his normal outfit, he walked out, knowing he had a meeting to get to. A Colonel Parkinson had invited him to talk. Pyro laughed. Talking was for fools and pussies. Action was what one needed, and Pyro wasn't the one to wait for orders.

Still, to be summoned by a colonel is a fair honor, and Pyro was intrigued, so he walked to the offices on base. Striding in calmly, a pair of MPs flanking the doors tried to stop him. He said nothing, instead summoning a fireball in his palm with a smirk. Whatever hindrance they were going to pose suddenly evaporated as they took several steps backward.

Striding through the halls, the fireball still in his hand - more for moral support than for deterrance - he found the colonel's office easily. For some reason, it was the only one where the door was hanging freely on its hinges, the lock being blown away earlier. Laughing, he walked in to see the colonel with a look of dismay/shock/anger on his face, only to have indignation displayed soon after. Pyro dropped the fireball into his left hand before saluting, "Squad Leader Pyro, at your service, Colonel."

(OOC: Tee hee. Yay for crazies. Also, I'm too lazy to think of the rank for a squad leader, so Squad Leader is what it shall stay for the moment.)

Col. Alexander Parkinson
His office
Nine-Eight

Colonel Parkinson hung up the phone after a brief discussion with the Elf at security about running bakground checks on personel he had previously cleared was a waste of everyone's time. He then looked at the group of people standing around in his office which made up most of his new squad, turning so he actually faced them he spoke.

"I'm not sure I remember putting anywhere in my message to all of you that you should bumble into my personal office before the scheduled meeting. In fact I clearly remember giving specific directions to briefing room 4-B on level 2 - and yes Gork, I know about your problem, you can ask one of the wandering soldiers for directions. Now I will be in that briefing room in exactly ten minutes, I expect all of you to be there. Dismissed."

They saluted and slowly shuffled out followed by the Colonel who closed his door again before heading down the hall in the other direction. He to wa headed to the briefing room but he needed to stop somewhere else beforehand. He threw the door to the General's office open with his mind - making sure to stop it before it hit the wall - so that he could enter without breaking his stride. The General sighed when he saw Alexander and quickly dismissed the two Majors he was speaking to.

"I think I know why you're here." The General said while he put some paperwork away.

"Good, I dislike explaining myself."

"You think I'm witholding information from you."

"Aren't you? Because I can name a few Radical Groups that aren't on this list: The Kelvothion Union, The Mekehl Necromancers, The Zarenites, the Apost-"

"Enough Colonel! None of those groups have been heard from in a long time, not since your Black Ops days at least."

"I asked for information on all Radical Groups. With all due respect General: Just because they haven't been recently active doesn't mean they're not a possible threat. You gave me authority to start this division. So I believe that information will be important to my division's success."

"They aren't a curren-"

"I DON'T GIVE A DAMN IF THEY'RE CURRENTLY ACTIVE!"

"THAT'S ENOUGH COLONEL! Until we have reason to believe any of those groups pose a threat, you don't need that intel. You're dismissed."

Colonel Parkinson opened the door with his left hand while saluting the General with his right. "Very well General, good day."
The General saluted back but didn't say anything more. Leaving the office and closing the door behind him Colonel Parkinson continued on his way to the briefing room. An elevator, and some more walking brought him to a row of briefing rooms, walking to 4-B he opened the door with his mind and entered. A few of the group stood and snapped a salute as he entered, muttering "As you were." sat them back down and he approached the seat at the head of the table. Moving the chair to the corner of the room he faced the group sitting along the table.

"Welcome, in case some of you haven't already surmised the nature of this meeting, you're all being transferred to a new division of Calyaran Special Forces. If you're lucky that'll simply mean portions of your file being clasified and unexplained Medals to go with it. If you aren't lucky however you'll cease to exist, simply being nameless soldiers that never were, and that no one will mourn upon death. The reason this fate is being pressed upon you all is because I chose you for it. You each have talents that are important to this new division and despite what you may want they're going to be used for the good of Calyara. If in a war, infantry are the frontline, the first to see action in war we're in front of them. If we do our jobs right we'll be stopping wars before they start, you'll all be heroes. But of course nothing you do from this point onwards will be known or remembered and you'll all have to live with that."

"You may spend today as you wish, but be here tomorrow at Oh-six-hundred hours sharp. Also, you're a team now, so I suggest you get to know eachother. Dismissed."

(OOC) Your characters have almost twenty-four hours to mingle and interact. If you need my character he'll be running a hand-to-hand training in the main Gym. Feel free to watch him toss recruits about (probably in the most literal sense). You can make up NPCs as you go around as well, your characters now have clearance for most of the base save the bottom four levels (it's a large complex) which are still restricted to you. If you're wondering what "Oh-six-hundred hours" is it's 6:00AM. When you're done posting I'll start the next day off and brief you all on our "exciting" first mission. (OOC)

Name: Kar'Gesh Roknag
Race: Orc
Age: 32
Sex: Male
Description: Kar'Gesh is almost your typical Orc. He stands at 7'5" tall and has pitch black hair which he keeps tied back and up in a bun. His body is covered in scars from multilple battles.
Specialty: Heavy Assault
Inventory: Various heavy weapons (Mission dependant)
Skills: Being an Orc, Kar'Gesh can handle heavy items with ease compared to a human He uses his brute strength to his advantage in various situations.
Bio: Kar'Gesh is a battle-hardened warrior. Before joining his current unit under Colonel Parkinson, Kar'Gesh used to be a hired hand, or what most would call a mercenary. It was during a battle against the Caylaran Armed Forces that Kar'Gesh was captured. Being a mercenary, there never came a rescue team to pull him out of captivity. His captor, aa Colonel Parkinson, however, was so impressed by his prowess at battle that he offered a position to join a "discreet special operations unit." Deciding that if he refused he'd be executed, Kar'Gesh agreed to the offer and was quickly assigned to the unit as a heavy assault trooper. No longer a mercenary, Kar'Gesh showed remarkable loyalty to his new "master" while still keeping his impressive skills in battle.

"Well that was a waste of energy, we didn't learn anything." I thought to myself as I entered a room labeled mess hall.
The room smelled as if something had died, and knew I most surely couldn't eat in there, so I decided I'd explore the base.

I headed down a long dark corridor for some reason the lights appeared to be out, no matter I was used to seeing in the dark. I walked up to a door labeled lower lever, this door was rusted and looked as if It hadn't been used in ages.

"What the hell, I'll give it a try." I thought to myself as I swiped my clearance card.

"Access Denied!" The screen flashed back at me.

"Guess I won't be getting in there any time soon." I mumbled to myself

Kar'Gesh grunted lightly after Colonel Parkinson's briefing. This wasn't anything he hadn't heard already. Unlike the rest of the others that had gathered in the room, he wasn't new at all. Well, not by his standards anyways, but by the Colonel's standards, he was still a boot. Kar'Gesh recalled the very day he had be brought to the "unit." Shaking his head, he followed after his CO once he had finished speaking, his gruff voice the only sound in the hall way.

"Suh, do ya tink dat they will manage to 'andle what is required. Some of deese people seem like they dun belong."

"Lieutenant Kar'Gesh...are you actually second guessing my decisions? That's not very wise to be saying, considering what I'd done for you...or have you forgotten that?"

"No suh. I will nevah forget dat day. I owes the Colonel mah life. Ya knows suh dat I'd do everyting I could for ya."

"Good Kar'Gesh. Because if you'd ever like to see Captain, then you'd watch your tongue. Now, are we finished here Kar'Gesh? Good, I'm glad to see that we are. I'll be in the training area if I'm needed...understood?"

Kar'Gesh nodded, knowing that Colonel Parkinson meant that he wanted to be left alone for awhile.

"Yes suh, I understand clearly. I will be at da firing range suh, should you need me for anyting."

Snapping to attention, Kar'Gesh saluted and left Parkinson to himself after his salute was returned. Heading to the rifle range, he passed by a new member of the team, not even bothering to acknowledge the new face.

Gork felt a bit slighted that his somewhat illiteracy had been mentioned in public, but doubted that anyone other than the colonel and he knew about it, and so Gork decided not to make anything out of it. He put his cigar out on his pants and put the butt into his cigar box, and was the first out of the room after the colonel had dismissed them.

Now of course was the issue of finding briefing room 4-B on level 2. Gork figured he could simply ask, but what fun would that be? He went to a help desk, asked for a piece of paper and a pen, scribbled the directions onto the paper, and asked for where the general direction of his target was. The desk helper, appalled at Gork's horrible grammar, had obliged but only barely without gouging his ears out. The Orc nodded with a toothy grin, and set off.

As before, what felt like hours past. Gork went up and down many flights of stairs, freaked various people out by yelling, growling, or talking to them, and generally just getting a feel for the place. Of course by the time this was done, he had about two minutes to get to the briefing room. He burst off into a run, going up to level 2 and searching for 4-B.

Finding the room, Gork unwillingly pretty much forced the door open with his bulk, possibly damaging the lock, if it had been on at the moment. Gork made himself look as proper as he could, and took a seat, mindful of the fact he could probably set this entire section of the base up in flame if he moved incorrectly.

Kar'Gesh didn't say anything as he lead Alec to the firing range. As they both entered, he let out a soft grunt before advising the Dragon Man about the facility.

"Dis is da firin' range here. You are welcome ta do as you see fit wit' any weapon you want. Just dun do anyting stupid or else you will hear 'bout it from da Colonel or m'self. And dat is dat. Now, if you will scuse me, I needs to get mah baby warmed up."

"Well, I thanksss you ssssir. I'm sssure I can find my way around here."

Having showed the new join where the range was, Kar'Gesh walked over to the armory and handed in his weapon card, grabbing ahold of his chain gun and loading it with the 20 mm rounds that it fired. Once he was content that it was ready to fire, he carried it over to an open area where there were a variety of different targets. Holding the weapon at his hip, he pressed down on the trigger and unleashed a barrage of 20 mm carnage on the hapless targets down range.

Pyro smirked when the colonel ordered them out of the room. He didn't care two shits where the meeting was, and if the colonel said the meeting was in 4-B on level 2, then that's where it was.

Walking calmly through the hall, he got to the meeting room early. Sitting down, he created a few fireballs and sat there juggling until the colonel arrived. Once he heard the dismissal, Pyro grunted. The meeting was a waste of time, no information was garnered, and that made Pyro mad.

Walking angrily out of the room first, he headed to the gun range. However, instead of picking up a gun, he hurled fireballs downrange with impeccable accuracy, turning over a dozen targets to ash.

Of course, after throwing around some fire, Pyro was always in a good mood. And so was the same this time. Walking out of the hall, he returned to his house to change. Changing into something that wouldn't give him away, he left the base and went to a club to see what he could get.

Walking into the club, he sat down at the bar and ordered some vodka for him, and a martini for the lady down the bar. Grabbing both, he walked over to her. He downed his vodka before he said, "Your glass was looking a bit low, so I took the liberty of bringing you another."

She chuckled and said, "Can I have a name to give to a face?"

Laughing, he sat down next to her, motioning for a refill, "Everyone calls me Pyro, but you can call me sexy."

She raised an eyebrow. Pyro simply winked. She asked, "You doing anything later?"

Pyro moved in close before saying, "Well, tomorrow I'll be shipping out, possibly to my death. Tonight, though, the only thing I'll be doing is you."

Without saying a word, the woman stood up, motioning for Pyro to follow. Downing a third shot of vodka, he winked at the bartender, who merely chuckled and returned to serving.

------------------------------------------------

Waking up the next morning, Pyro did it again. When he was done, she almost wasn't able to stand up, and Pyro had to leave. Taking her number for future reference, he made sure she wouldn't forget him.

Returning to his own house, he took a shower, and did his daily routine. Leaving the house around 0545, Pyro strolled over to the base, walking into the meeting room at around 0556. Sitting down, his thoughts returned to the night before. God damn that was good, Pyro thought, getting chills just thinking about it. With a big smirk, he began listening to what the colonel had to say.

Alexander Parkinson
Mess-hall
Seven

It was lunch-time when he had finished his hand-to-hand lesson, a few cocky recruits were now in the infirmary for broken ribs, but that didn't bother him. What did bother him however was Garth Mason, an old friend who was currently sitting across the table staring at him. As he had been doing for the past five minutes. He showed no outward signs however and simply continued eating his lunch while reading over some intel that the General finally released. Another friend, Hara Knox sat down beside Garth and looked back and forth between Alexander and Garth.

"What are you doing?" She asked,

"Shh..." Garth whispered still not looking away from the Colonel, "I'm trying to read his mind..."

Hara began whispering as well, "Aren't you a Magnakinetic?"

"Yes,"

"Don't Telepaths read minds?"

"Yes,"

"Ok then..." She said deciding not to humour him anymore.

"Don't bother using Reason on Garth," Alexander said, "It didn't work six years ago, and it doesn't work now."

"I knew you were going to say that!" Garth said, no longer whispering, "I've made a breakthrough!"

"Ignoring Garth," Hara started, "How're things going Alex?"

"You do remember I'm a Colonel," Alexander said with a grin, "That means I outrank you Major."

"You know I won't call you 'Colonel', just be glad I don't call you 'Al' like Garth does."

"Hey," Garth defended, "Deep down he likes being called Al, dontcha?"

"Must be pretty deep down if only your tuned abilities are picking it up," Alexander said closing his folder to give his full attention to his comrades. They spoke for about half an hour before Hara had to leave, and The Colonel who had decided long ago not to stay alone with Garth for any prolonged period of time left as well. He spent the rest of the day at his safe-house pouring over intel trying to find out which faction they'd target. Unfourtunatly they wouldn't start right away because the General was unsure about the Colonel's choice of Personel. So they were stuck with escort-duty... I'm sure I won't be the only one angered by this news... as long as this team can handle this job well the General should allow me more freedom with their assignments.

With that he put the files away and went to sleep...

Col. Alexander Parkinson
The Base
Six

It was raining again, not good for visibility which meant the chance of a surprise attack. What was he thinking, they were doing a simple escort mission, not an Urban Assault. However his training didn't let him see any mission as "simple" or "safe". More of that Professional Paranoia... He finally entered the base and headed down to level two (level numbers go up as you go down, as does needed clearance). When he entered the briefing room he was pleased to see his entire team waiting. Resting his coat over the back of his chair - which was still in the corner - he turned to and addressed the group.

"I know none of you enjoyed our Meeting yesterday and I'm sure you'll dislike this one just as much. The General doesn't exactly approve of my choice in personel, so he's testing you all with an Escort mission. There's a convoy, heading from a research center about thirty kilometers North-north-west of here. It'll be carrying preserved DNA samples that will be extremely helpful to project ROGER. I won't lie to you, this is important, but it's hardly what this team was built for. However General Wallace outranks me so we're stuck with this assignment." He levitated folders out amongst the group which detailed the route and the convoy.

"We'll be meeting up with them after about ten kilometers, right before they reach the ruins of Old Sirrah. If anything at all is going to happen to this convoy it'll happen there. The second page is useful information on Radical Groups that are against progect ROGER, they're the most likely to strike out at the convoy. We'll be traveling in three Recon Sedans, four per Sedan with one in front, one behind and another alternating between the two positions. We'll be taking our time inside the ruins, we'll have two people from each vehicle walking at all times to make sure we have as many eyes out there as possible."

"This may be a push-over assignment but we'll show them we can do it right. We leave imediatly. Dismissed."

(OOC) I know, I'm being mean by keeping things slow/boring :P But you'll have to bear with me for a bit longer. The ruins are a bombed out city from the holocaust. It's all run-down sky scrapers and demolished houses. No one lives there anymore, but as you can imagine it'd be pretty easy to get ambushed there. But will I continue the dullness? Or throw us into an ambush? Find out next time! Same Hawk-Time, same Hawk-Channel! (OOC)

((No one answered my Tag it was meant for Alec avenge7fold. Now my guy is 24 hours behind O_O. So just assume that I had managed to talk to the Col. and was in the briefing with you.))

I nervously trum my talons on the desk. This was going to be my first Op out of training and it was more then the Pre Op jitters. The ruins were all that was left of a once great human city. All that was left was charred hulks of building and cars and the ashes of over 3 million souls. Flash burned by 3 thermo-nucluar bombs. It was a grave yard, ghost town, or any other thing you wished to call it.

I kept trumming talons as the Col continued on showing detailed plans and maps of the ruins. Then I hear scribbling and one of the Orcs slips him a not. 'Well ya stop tha?" was scrawled in horrible righting. I grab my pin and quickly scribble on the back of the note, "Why should I?" and pass it back.

alec reads the plans and notices for the first time the two other dragon men working in the same company(thingy?) as him, snarling a bit he reads through and falters, he had heard of the destruction of the city, glad to have been shielded from the destruction, he gulps, not wanting to see what possibly his own kind accomplished in the span of only two relatively short years, he uprights himself and does as he always has done, he bottles his emotions up for explosive use in battle should it ever come to them on this mission, he sighs and looks at the youngest dragon man, Name of imahara wasn't it? he thinks silently Young fool probably couldn't last in battle, he's still green, probably his first mission or so he snorts at the thought and goes to get his equipment, this being an escort mission he tries to remember, not having been an escort for a while, what equipment is neccesary, he finally remembers and gears up, after retreiving his weapon he straps the Blaze gun to his hip and loads extra Explosive Rounds for it into his ammo pouch. En route
-------------------------------------

En route to meet up with the scientists I of course was in the front car with the colonel

"Sir, I've carefully read through the intelligence and I was wondering why are we all in cars, I've noticed several nice points where I could set up shop as you humans say and be a scout for some of those groups as they're defined." I mentioned to the colonel.

To which he simply responded " Do not under any circumstance question my orders soldier."

I could see m and this colonel wouldn't be on good terms but he was the commander so i knew I'd have to suck it up and deal with it if I was to get what I wanted from this special ops position.
Looking out the window, I could see the deformed barren buildings, which were almost devoid of life save a few insects of varying sorts that had come to know the place as home. Suddenly off to the right I saw what appeared to be movement, but i shrugged it off as nothing I mean we haven't even got the cargo as of yet, they wont strike, at least not yet.

"We're here" the driver said in a tone so mono tonal you would swear he was a robot.

The other two vehicles pulled up behind us, and parked, we were approached by five scientists. A short little man with glasses and slicked back hair spoke, " Yooo....you're from the mmmmm military rrr rr right?"

"Yeah, thats us." I respond quickly. Which was almost immediately responded to with a sharp look from the colonel. It had become apparent he didn't like how I enjoyed taking initiative, I didn't care much I was here for me. Him being a preceptive man, I'm sure he could probably tell that.

[ooc: iHawk told me to start this ere little shin dig off, so hats off for catchup posts, or interaction amongst us all(pre mission where the scientists are) or the car ride from your particular vehicle.]

Colonel Parkinson
Old Sirrah
Five-Four-Three

Under different circumstances The Colonel could've been friends with this Elf, this Eraisuithon. He reminded the Colonel of himself when he was younger, which was an absurd thought in of itself as this Elf was already older the the Colonel was now. Perhaps the Elf reminded him of himself when he was less matured. Either way, they had met up with the Scientists and were heading back through Old Sirrah. They were taking what once were the main roads, the most direct path from one edge of the city to the other. Right up until the bombs hit these roads would've been almost piled with cars, littered with people. The Colonel's line of thought was broken when Eraisuithon spoke.

"Sir, the road!"

The Colonel saw it, there was rubble in the way, it would take far too long to clear it. Best scenario: The rubble finally fell on it's own due to decades of decay. Worst Case Scenario: It was a trap. Either way the best course of action was obvious, tapping his earpiece he spoke.

"Some rubble is blocking our original route, it's either just fallen, or it was placed there. Either way we're taking the side roads. One person per vehicle, everyone else stays to either side with their eyes peeled. Be ready for anything people." Then turning to Eraisuithon he said, "You've got better eyesight. I'll drive, you keep a lookout for anything suspicious."

The Elf complied and soon The Colonel was leading the caravan of vehicles off of their planned course and through the tighter city streets. They weren't good tactical positions, but it was their only choice. Resting his right hand on his pistol he continued their pace through the ghost town.

Cael snagged the folder that hovered patiently in front of him, and flipped through it idly, listening the colonel go through the details. However, his calm ambiance was only a façade. Inside, the young elf’s heart hammered wildly in his chest with excitement. My first mission he thought to himself in anticipation. Cael flicked nervous eyes at the rest of the soldiers lounging in the seats. Hardened troops, all of them, no of his race except what seemed like a half-elf sitting off to the side.

‘We leave immediately. Dismissed.’ The colonel’s bark dragged the wood elf from his thoughts and he stood up with the others and filed out. Going to his quarters, Cael hurriedly grabbed his MSG90 from its case and shoving his Glock into its thigh holster. He paused and gazed at the rifle with affection. Glinting dully with a new coat of black paint, the sniper rifle was Cael’s weapon of choice in combat. Although he’d never shot at person with it, Cael had always performed exceptionally with the MSG90 during training and exercises. If there was going to be any action, the young elf wanted to show the others that he was good enough to be part of the team. Sheathing his knife in its ankle strap, he sprinted out.

Minutes later Cael bundled into the one of the sedans with 3 others, 2 humans and an orc before they sped off. Cael kept quiet during the trip to rendezvous with the scientists, listening to the chatter around him. The meeting went off as planned, and Cael settled down for the uneventful return journey, when the convoy suddenly halted. His earpiece buzzed.

‘Some rubble is blocking our original route, it's either just fallen, or it was placed there. Either way we're taking the side roads. One person per vehicle, everyone else stays to either side with their eyes peeled. Be ready for anything people.’ Cael clambered out of the sedan, licked his suddenly dry lips and tightened his grip on the rifle. The rest of the team did likewise. They set off again at a crawl, everyone’s eyes scanning the area for signs of danger.

"Dismissed," orders the CO. I notice that one of the other dragon men in the group watching me. I made a note to ask him later but first I had more pressing issues. I head my room and open my duffle bag. Inside a matte black shotgun lay. I pick it up and calmly check the safety and condition.

After makeing sure it was fine I pull out a long sheath of velvet. Inside was thr hardened gary steel of my father sword. With the family crest inlaid with Rubies. I gently push into its scabboard then throw it on m bead. I pull out my uniform and quickly strip down to dress. After carefully tucking my wings in I button it up and insert the kevlar shields on my chest, back, and shins.

Last but not least I grab a canisters of C4 and the detnator plus some frag grenades. I was as ready as I would ever be. Still I felt jittery. I leave the room and lock the door. Out in the assebly lot the rest of the squad was getting ready. I once again noticed the same dragon man watching me like a hawk. Definatly not helping with my jitters. At least I would get the chance to confront him. We were in the same car.

With one last look at the base I open the door and hop in.

Karlas Lekr
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Karlas sat through the brieifing without saying a word. That was a first for him. After he was dismissed, he headed over to the mess hall, grabbed two trays and piled them over a foot and a half high with food. He found tail friendly seat, sat down and started shoving his face. When he was done, he grabbed his empty trays, and got more food. He needed to contemplate what he had been told, and were not two of the Lekr Family mottos: "A Lekr always thinks best with a full stomach." and "If you know you might die, make sure to do it with a full stomach and ready fists." After he was done eating, Karlas headed for the Gym. After a few hours of pummeling people, Karlas headed for his quarters. He walked over to his bead, collapsed, and instantly fell asleep.
Karlas woke up early the next morning, and made a beeline for the Mess hall. When he got there, he balanced three trays which he filled well above their capacity and then headed for a secluded table to chow down. After he had completely removed all traces of food from his trays, he went for more. Twice. After he had consumed what he considered a sufficent quantity of food, he walked over to the Gym. After spending an hour and a half straight of alternately training and beating 7 obviously green soldiers of various races, Karlas took a break. He looked at the clock then over at the 7 sorry masses lying around the mat.
"Sorry fellows, but as much as I would love to continue this session, I have a meeting to go to." He locked eyes with one particularly pathetic human soldier. "And don't ye worry Dobson, I am positive that none of your vital organs were severely damaged. Until next time, Farewell."
With that, Karlas left the Gym and went over to his quarters. He took a quick rinse to get the smell of fighting off of him, then went over to his closet, and pulled out his read beret. He placed it at a rakish tilt on his head. He then headed over to the Mess hall, and grabbed a tray full of food. When he was done, he put the tray away, and headed for level 2.
After arriving on level 2 and showing his proper clearance, Karlas started searching for briefing room 4-B. He arrived at the same time as the several other people and walked in with them. He found a seat and sat down to wait for the meeting to start. After everyone had arrived, Colonel Parkinson started the meeting by handing aout files to everyone. Karlas immediately started reading his.
"I know none of you enjoyed our Meeting yesterday and I'm sure you'll dislike this one just as much. The General doesn't exactly approve of my choice in personnel, so he's testing you all with an Escort mission. There's a convoy, heading from a research center about thirty kilometers North-north-west of here. It'll be carrying preserved DNA samples that will be extremely helpful to project ROGER. I won't lie to you, this is important, but it's hardly what this team was built for. However General Wallace outranks me so we're stuck with this assignment."
"We'll be meeting up with them after about ten kilometers, right before they reach the ruins of Old Sirrah. If anything at all is going to happen to this convoy it'll happen there. The second page is useful information on Radical Groups that are against project ROGER; they're the most likely to strike out at the convoy. We'll be taking our time inside the ruins, we'll have two people from each vehicle walking at all times to make sure we have as many eyes out there as possible."
After the Colonel was done talking and dismissed them, Karlas headed for his quarters to gather his equipment. He made sure to grab as many food bars as his jacket could hold. Then he went to the armory to get his weapons. He checked out his titanium plastic maces, and his assault rifle with plenty of magazines.
Karlas rode in a sedan with the Elf/Avion, an Orc, and a Wood Elf. He sat next to the Hybrid as they rode along.
"Hey, I am Karlas Lekr, son of Tragoes Lekr III, Descendent of Tragoes Lekr I, also known as Tragoes Lekr the Mighty. He was one of those who defeated Farieth Zaren." Karlas said proudly. "Whats your name?"
"I am Damien Arch-Angel."
"Fun name." Karlas said as he started eating one of his food bars. He finished it and grabbed another and ate it.
"Didn't you eat before the mission?"
"A Lekr is at peak condition only on a full stomach. Lekr Family Motto number 4."
"Ah."
(ooc) Tag LQ
As Karlas and Damien were talking and Karlas was eating, they were interrupted by the Colonel making an announcement on the radio.
"Some rubble is blocking our original route, it's either just fallen, or it was placed there. Either way we're taking the side roads. One person per vehicle, everyone else stays to either side with their eyes peeled. Be ready for anything people."
"OOH! I want to peel me eyes!" Karlas said enthusiastically, the hereditary Lekr crazyness showing as he climbed out of the sedan cradling his rifle and swinging his tail.
Kar’Gesh watched silently as the new joins filed into the briefing room. Content that they had all arrived on time, he took his place in his own seat as Colonel Parkinson entered. For a moment the room remained silent, then the team’s CO spoke up just loud enough for everyone to hear him.
"I know none of you enjoyed our Meeting yesterday and I'm sure you'll dislike this one just as much. The General doesn't exactly approve of my choice in personnel, so he's testing you all with an Escort mission. There's a convoy, heading from a research center about thirty kilometers North-north-west of here. It'll be carrying preserved DNA samples that will be extremely helpful to project ROGER. I won't lie to you, this is important, but it's hardly what this team was built for. However General Wallace outranks me so we're stuck with this assignment."
As Kar’Gesh snagged his own folder from the air, opening it up and reading over the mission profile as the Colonel continued his brief.
"We'll be meeting up with them after about ten kilometers, right before they reach the ruins of Old Sirrah. If anything at all is going to happen to this convoy it'll happen there. The second page is useful information on Radical Groups that are against project ROGER; they're the most likely to strike out at the convoy. We'll be traveling in three Recon Sedans, four per Sedan with one in front, one behind and another alternating between the two positions. We'll be taking our time inside the ruins, we'll have two people from each vehicle walking at all times to make sure we have as many eyes out there as possible."
"This may be a pushover assignment but we'll show them we can do it right. We leave immediately. Dismissed."
Kar’Gesh immediately rose to his feet, and as he was about to leave after the rest of them, Colonel Parkinson called him out.
“Lieutenant, I want you to take up position in the rear of the convoy. If there is an ambush, then I want a way out and quick. I can’t trust anyone more than you to be able to do that. Understood?”
“Yes suh, I undershtand. Dun you worry ‘bout a ting suh, I’ll make sure dat we ‘ave a way out. Doe do you tink we will need to worry ‘bout an attack on dis mission?”
“No…I don’t. But you can’t allow that to define any mission. You know how it goes. If something can go wrong, then it can and will go wrong.”
“Aye suh. I’ll make sure ta keep an eye out for anyting dat can go wrong.”
With that said, he snapped a quick salute and walked out of the briefing room, heading directly to the armory. Upon his arrival, he turned over his weapon cards, withdrawing his personal chain gun as well as a MGL and two .45’s. The armorer looked at him puzzling. Ignoring the odd look, Kar’Gesh moved over to the ammunition supply, taking more than his fair share of ammo for each of his weapons before moving out to the motor pool. As the team loaded up, he took one last look around before seating himself in the vehicle. Without even bothering to look at the faces of the other personnel in the vehicle, Kar’Gesh began to observe the outside for any possible threats. As the mission progressed, things were going smoothly and Kar’Gesh began to think that they were going to be home by chow, until his radio crackled to life.
"Some rubble is blocking our original route, it's either just fallen, or it was placed there. Either way we're taking the side roads. One person per vehicle, everyone else stays to either side with their eyes peeled. Be ready for anything people.”
Immediately looking at the other 3 troops, he told the driver to continue moving with the convoy but to stay back at least 50 meters from the Sedan in front of it, the other two passengers were to stay on either side of the vehicle while he took up rear guard, ensuring they had a viable escape route should they need one.
(OOC: Tag anyone. It’s a bit longer than I wanted because I missed out on quite a bit of action. Anyways, I didn’t pick anyone in my vehicle, but if you want to be taking up rear guard with me, then have at it. You’re more than welcome too.)
When he heard the news, his smirk dropped. Scowling, he snatched the folder out of the air. Absently skimming some of the information, he narrowed his eyes. Such a pushover mission. And here he thought he was going on some dangerous mission where his life would be at risk - Pyro's cup of tea. Well, she doesn't have to know that, Pyro thought, a smirk almost reappearing.
Walking out of the briefing room, he walked quickly to the armory. Grabbing his gun - a measley .45 - he took out a cigarette and started to light it, then thought better. Instead, he slipped it back and pulled out a cigar. Licking the tip, he lit the cigar, slipping the lighter into his pocket when he was done. Sighing, he exaled the smoke. "Nothing like a Black to soothe the nerves."
Walking out of the armory, he followed an orc. He ended up in the rear car. He didn't care. Back here, he'd be able to see the ambush first - if one happened, and usually, they happened from the back.
The cars were off, and Pyro puffed the cigar sparingly. He offered one to the troops in the car with him, but they declined. Shrugging, Pyro looked out the window calmly.
Soon, the Colonel's voice crackled over the radio: "Some rubble is blocking our original route, it's either just fallen, or it was placed there. Either way we're taking the side roads. One person per vehicle, everyone else stays to either side with their eyes peeled. Be ready for anything people.”
Smiling, he looked at Kar'Gesh, who just looked at him, and movement broke out. Kar'Gesh took up the rear guard, while Pyro took up the left side. The other troop took the other side.
Pyro, instead of drawing his gun, he conjured a fireball. On a whim, he conjured a second, and started trying contact juggling. His mind kept open to the surroundings, knowing that chances are, something was going to happen.
Trouble?
------------------
We had been driving along more or less silent I had decided it best not to stir the colonel we had to work together so I figured better not friendly then enemies.
"Sir, the road!" I shouted to the colonel
it was apparent the road had been blocked by rubble from a ways back to me, although I knew the colonel couldn't see it yet. After a little driving it must've came into his view.
"Some rubble is blocking our original route, it's either just fallen, or it was placed there. Either way we're taking the side roads. One person per vehicle, everyone else stays to either side with their eyes peeled. Be ready for anything people." I heard him say first siting next to me, then over the slight delay in the intercom his words began overlapping. I could manage to make out the message however.
He turned towards me, "You've got better eyesight. I'll drive, you keep a lookout for anything suspicious."
I knew he was right, he knew he was right, so I complied without any trouble.
Soon we were in the more narrow streets, and we had that same scientist who had told me his name was Eric. He was fidgeting in the back seat it was apparent he had become uncomfortable with th situation.
We kept driving almost back on the original route after going around our road block when they appeared, what seemed like hundreds, I couldn't count all I knew is they were built like humans and they were heavily armed.
"Colonel up ahead, I know you cant see em, but its what looks like an army of soldiers, cloaked, and they're heavily armed, i count at least 8 rocket launchers." he didn't say anything to me, but he gave a nod acknowledging what I had said.
I felt the sedan come to a halt.
"Guys get ready, Erasuithon here says we have a small army to deal with up ahead, I want my demo's to take an empty sedan, and three more men and one sniper and go round back, they're humans so they cant see us yet. The rest you're with me." he closed the intercom, and the orders were being followed almost immediately."Erasuithon I want you in that building protecting the scientists and project roger." he pointed as to where he meant.
I took the scientists and headed to the building, there was no one inside, i quickly found a room with one entrance, and a window facing the battle which by now had begun. I threw Eric a handgun, "Ever use one of these?" I asked him.
"Nnn nn no ssss sss s sir." his voice was trembling
"Lets hope you don't have to. I'll be providing back-up from this window here anyone comes through that door, shoot em." I told him
I set up my sniper rifle. and began shooting, careful to not hit my own men.
[ooc: more iHawk related ideas. but yeah enjoy the situation.]
Damien lookked down at the ensueing firefight. Bullets were flying around all over when he noticed someone on top of a building calling out on a radio. "That can't be good. Your mine my pretty." He said and then dived. The attack was switft with the mans jugular spraying the radio as he made his last comunique. Of course it went to well you say. So did damien as he was shot twice in the back with a tranq gun and fell. The last thing he saw was two men in black suits carry him away....
Col. Alexander Parkinson
Old Sirrah
Two-One-Zero
This is what he had been prepared for, and what he had been hoping to avoid. Loading his Pistol and grabbing some Grenades from the Car's trunk he turned to find the Lizardman "Alec" standing there.
"Whatss our orderss colonel?" He asked,
"Simple, move ahead, cover eachother and keep your distance. Once the fighting starts don't get shot and give them hell." Then speaking into the Radio he said, "Eraisuithon, look for anyone using a rocket launcher first and take them out as soon as the fighting starts. We can't afford te be hit by those things."
"Acknowledged Colonel."
"Gork, once that car is around behind them turn it into a rolling bomb and send it right into their flank. After that, Kar'Gesh will lead your offensive, he has a lot of combat experience. Move in!"
Not twenty seconds later was the first shot fired and the streets errupted into chaos. Even in the chaos he started yelling orders over the Radio, keeping their attack coordinated and keeping everyone covered. They were outnumbered and their opponents new that. They were mostly hiding behind rubble but a small group with automatics ran out of their cover firing like mad, and screaming even moreso. Stepping just out if the alley's cover the Colonel fired several shots into two of the group killing them while someone lobbed a grenade sending the others flying.
Spoting some of the enemies clambering into a building for better cover the Colonel yelled over the radio, "Pyro! I need a distraction! Get them to hide their heads for a second!"
He was answered by several fireballs flying across the battle and some actually into enemy troops who's cloaks easily burst into flames spreading temporary chaos. Taking advantage of this the Colonel "threw" his two grenades into the building they were now using as cover, pulling the pins right before they entered the window. A large explosion followed sending several bodies as well as a chunk of the wall out onto the street.
"Thraka! We can't keep fighting them all like this! Where's that car-bomb?!"
Cael ducked behind the sedan as bullets ricocheted around him.
‘Pyro! I need a distraction! Get them to hide their heads for a second.’
A brief flare in the corner of his eye, and the shooting stopped for a bit. Cael took the chance and bolted, head down, arms pumping as he made a break for the corner, his rifle slung around his back. Reaching a looming carcass of a building, Cael dived inside and clambered up the stairs 2 at a time. It was probably only 3 or so stories tall, but to the young elf it seems to go up forever. With the battle still echoing in his ears and the colonel’s orders mingling with brackets of fire, Cael finally reached the top and flung himself down. Hurriedly setting up his sniper, Cael nestled the butt against his shoulder, closed his eyes for a second to calm his hammering heart and took aim.
So many targets. He thought to himself. He played the scope over the battlefield, counting and spotted a man with loading a rocket launcher and aiming it. Cael took a deep breath, settled the cross hair on the man, and pulled the trigger. BAM! Through his scope, he saw the enemy jerk, a gout of blood shooting out of his head before he collapsed. The rocket whooshed out of the launcher as the man fell and it roared through the air to explode harmlessly against a building several streets away. Cael tapped his ear piece. ‘Colonel, this is Caelas. I’m counting 76…’ A grenade went off, throwing several of the cloaked soldiers flying through the air. ‘…72 enemy units facing us in a semi-circular formation. Weaponry seems to mainly consist of AK-47’s and MP5’s. No obvious markings on their equipment. Over.’
He placed his scopes over another man with a rocket launcher and shot the man in the chest, throwing him onto his back. Cael fired again, this time hitting a figure who just pulled the pin on a grenade. A brief pause and it erupted into a ball of fire. As he looked for more targets, a flicker of movement caught his attention. A long barrel slowly poked its way through a window. Cael panicked, he didn’t have a clear shot at the man at all. He tapped his ear piece again
‘Sniper located within our perimeter over!’
Alec hears the call over the radio 'Sniper located within our perimeter' and swears under his breath Dammit...just what we need, an enemy sniper he gets on the radio "Cael have you got a sshot? he swore again as the response came back "No Alec, i can't get im" Alec looks over to the colonel, "Colonel, i can get him out, i just need cover, can't fire an automatic and aim a pistol at the same time" Alec goes back onto the radio "Cael, where'ss the enemy ssniper? I can blaze him out. Alec throws his automatic over his shoulder and pulls the blaze gun carefully from his pocket, if he set off the explosives in the pellets now it would be all over, he waits for Cael's instructions, looking up himself at possible positions for snipers to fire from.
(ooc: edit: just got some inspiration :))
"Alec to the north, the tallest building, fifth floor, the snipers up there" comes cael's response, he prays he'll have cover as he kneels out the door, sighting the pistol, seeing the barrel pointed away from him he chuckles to himself and takes aim He'll never see THIS comin he thinks as he pulls the trigger, he misses the mark but the accuracy he got was enough as the pellet explodes into a large fireball, certainly destroying the rifle if not killing the operator, the flames disappear as quickly as they appeared, he hears the telltale sound of the sniper hitting the floor and smiles inwardly, he gets hit in the upper arm with a bullet and growls, running back into the building, holstering the blaze gun carefully "One Enemy Ssssniper down" he says into the radio, he swings his automatic around and begins returning fire, ignoring the bullet wound.
Pyro walked next to the sedan. Suddenly, the convoy stopped. Immediately, Pyro was ready. Looking all around, he tried to spot the trouble. He knew nothing until he heard the first report. Looking toward the front, he saw them. Immediately, Pyro smiled. He knew SOMETHING was going to happen, and he loved being proven right.
He started to creep to the colonel when he saw some movement, and the colonel shouted over the radio, "Pyro! I need a distraction! Get them to hide their heads for a second!"
"Will do!" Pyro responded with a maniacal laugh. He instantly stood and launched fireball after fireball at the group, watching as each flew with pinpoint accuracy with little effort - he grew so used to throwing them he was launching them into the army as if he were tossing cards. He laughed again when he saw some were on fire. He walked forward as he threw, no one willing to poke their head out while he moved.
When he reached the building the colonel was in, he barricaded himself next to the door, letting up on his onslaught. Of course, none appeared for a few moments, and Pyro took the liberty of winding up a fastball. Standing in position, he saw a head poke up slightly. Releasing the pitch, the fireball flew with astounding speed, burning a neat hole through the soldier's forehead. As the body fell, he heard commotion on the other side of the barricade.
Ducking into the building, he asked, "Colonel, permission to try a crazy idea?"
"What that elf doing?" I thought to myself, "He was told to go with group two to cover them."
If there was one thing i disliked it was rookie mistakes on the battle field.
"Colonel, this is Caelas. I’m counting 76…’ A grenade went off, throwing several of the cloaked soldiers flying through the air. ‘…72 enemy units facing us in a semi-circular formation. Weaponry seems to mainly consist of AK-47’s and MP5’s. No obvious markings on their equipment. Over." The elf's voice came through the intercom, his position was obviously lacking, there was easily two hundred men in the vicinity.
Looking through my scope, i however did notice that the eight launchers were down.
"Good job kid." I thought to myself.
"Sniper located within our perimeter over!" Cealas I believe his name was said over the intercom.
"Cael have you got a sshot?"The dragon man swore again as the response came back
"No Alec, i can't get im."
""Cael, where'ss the enemy ssniper? I can blaze him out." I heard the tactics over the radio, all the while my gun on that same sniper in case the dragon man couldn't quite manage.
"They must of forgotten my position."I thought
"Alec to the north, the tallest building, fifth floor, the snipers up there." comes cael's response
I hear an explosion followed by my com again "One Enemy Ssssniper down." that was the dragon man again.
"Well at least they can get the job done between em" That one I said out loud forgetting the scientists behind me.
"Wwwhat yyou you me mmm mean ssssir?" Eric asked
"Never mind, eyes on the door hand steady." I heard him turn back to the door as I spoke in a stern manner.
"Another sniper!" I buzzed over the intercom "I got this one, could've had the last one too, next time don't jeopardize your position."
My rifle went off silent as the other scientists in the room, obviously scared half to death. I scan the battle field from what I can see the buildings remaining are empty and most of the soldiers are covered behind the rubble, flames exploding everywhere.
"I think I like this fire man." I thought to myself
"Colonel, permission to try a crazy idea?" Pyro if I remember correctly his name was asked the colonel.
While I don't especially like recklessness on the battle field i figured this would be worth watching.
Still awaiting his response I continue scanning the battle field looking for any major threats, leaving the standard soldiers alone, Cael however wasn't picking off random soldiers.
"Cael!" I buzz over the intercom "Stop with the shooting you're position will be jeopardized. I suggest moving soon the soldiers know where you are." I tell him as I see a rocket wielding soldier aiming right in Cael's position. I fire my bullet knocking the launcher out of the mans hand, at almost the same time he is melted nearly in two courtesy of another of Pyro's fire fast balls.
"Cael, that was close, did you even see that?" I buzzed to him "Get a new position NOW or you're gonna be toast."
Chaos engulfed the area as Gork drew a phosphorous grenade and his over-sized pistol and ducked behind cover. He saw the car he was supposed to target suddenly pass across his view as he looked around for it. Smiling and lighting a cigar, Gork jumped up from his cover.
Shots suddenly flung past him, and he could hear the whistle of the bullets going past his pointed ears and felt their heat upon his face. His smile even bigger, he pulled the pin on his grenade and threw it into the target vehicle. The grenade landed in the lap of the driver's seat and exploded, boiling through the seats and ruining the upholstery.
"Cova' me while I rig dis sucka up! 'Hara, give ol' Gorky a 'and 'ere!" Gork shouted out, running up to the disabled vehicle.
Gork took out a wrench, some detonator pins, and mold-able putty as he lined the windows with plastic explosive. Imahara helped with rigging the car and bashed out the front windshield, placing napalm along the sill. Gork placed a pipe bomb beneath the driver's seat and pushed the car onto the path he wanted it to go.
Right in the midst of the enemy.
"Alright, 'Hara. Go find me a good sized brick, I'll cova' ya." Gork said to the other demolitionist, blowing out a thick cloud of cigar smoke. He fired his pistol at the enemy as the lizard went to his job.
Imahara returned shortly afterwards carrying a large cinderblock.
"Will thissss ssssufficce?"
"Anything will, just put it on the pedal." Gork said without looking at what the lizard had gotten. Gork reached into the vehicle, set it to neutral, and went around to the driver's side to make sure it would work as planned.
The Orc spun the steering wheel so the car would go straight, or reasonably straight, and set the fuse on his pipe bomb. A shot skinned his ear, causing the Orc to grin widely in blood lust.
"Alright, Hara. When I yell 'brace', you hit da dirt. Got it?" Gork yelled out to the lizard, putting on his goggles. Imahara nodded, taking cover. "Good. BRACE!" Gork yelled out, and backed out of the vehicle as he put it into 2nd gear.
The car suddenly burst into life and shot forward and just as Gork had planned, it exploded. The explosion sent everyone sprawling with a huge shockwave and the sound going out for a split second. Flaming debris shot up, and even a few robed enemies caught fire.
Gork's smile got as wide as it could, and a feeling of happiness filled him. The feeling one only got after doing the thing they enjoyed most. In Gork's case... this was blow things up. He lived his pistol and opened fire, waiting for most chances to blow something else to pieces.
Pyro looked at the colonel, who asked, "And what by chance would that be?"
"I plan to attempt to melt the barricades between us and the attackers."
Parkinson responded, "You DO realise that you'll have to concentrate for a long time and not get shot, correct?"
"Sir, yes sir."
"And if you succeed, you'll be pretty much out of commission for the rest of this mission?"
"Sir, with all due respect, I don't believe the attackers will attack again if we destroy their ranks now. I believe this is the brunt of their force, and thus if we win, they won't be prepared to send another at us."
The colonel thought for a minute before responding, "Fine, but it's your body. If you get shot, don't come running to me complaining. Understood?"
