I just got this game and I suck at it
I can't get past the terran campaign and every time I play a skirmish my base gets rushed and destroyed
so can anyone care to help me? or are you guys going to flame me?
and I have another question
what do zerg and protoss eat?

Replay, please. It's kind of hard to help without one.
Zerg are carnivorous and eat anything they can, as well as inorganic material such as wood, plastic, concrete, cardboard, metal, and coffee. Protoss sustain themselves through the Psi and need no physical food.

LOL!! Coffee...yes, it sustains all things. To bad the Protoss can't enjoy it's fine delicacy. You know, I always wondered why 'lings were so damn hyper. Guess that answers it. But my question is, is it that normal Foldgers Cup stuff, or is it espresso.

/me shrugs.
For that, you'd have to ask them.

Yeah...I remember when I couldn't get past the first levels...so long ago....
Just keep trying. And don't use cheat codes. (If you don't know the game had cheat codes, forget I said anything :) ).

The game AI is really kind of stupid. Looking back, it's hard to understand how I could lose against it. But I DO remember losing.
What you need to get better at is probably this:
Do things. All the time. Build workers all the time (ok, when you have 50-60 of them, you can probably stop...but it took me a good time before I figured out I should build more than the initial 4).
With workers mining all the time, you'll find you have minerals and gas pouring out of your ears. This isn't good either. You want to spend your money.
You spend this money on buildings that create units, or upgrade them, and of course the units themselves.
Start with a building that creates units (first off for Terran would be Barracks, for Protoss the Gateway, for Zerg it's the Hatchery...but you already have one of those). Make sure 1 (ONE) unit is always building from it.
(The ability to queue units doesn't mean you HAVE to use it...and 5 queued marines is 250 minerals...200 of those minerals could go into building a Factory...and by the time the first marine is done, you'll have another 50 minerals anyway).
When resources pour in so fast it's still increasing despite your units building, it's time to build more unit-production buildings (again, here it took me some time to realize I could, or SHOULD, build more than one unit-producing building of each kind).
So if you're Terran, don't build 1 Factory. You should end up having built atleast 6 (if facing CPU). More is better, but overdoing it a bit against the CPU.
On battle.net you might find yourself building over 20 factories.
(Sidenote: Next step is to learn which units are good for which situations...so when I say "build factory" it depends entirely on which race you're facing, and what you're planning to do. Most terrans facing Zerg will make a shitload of marines and medics, so they build a lot more barracks than just one).
Crazzles, how many workers do you build after your first 4?

The right answer, by the way, is not a single-digit number.
Seriously, every level in the T campaign can be won by HM tank push. The Z AIs are so stupid that yes, you can even beat them with HM tank push. Requires very little micro to pull off - just macro like crazy and you'll win.

Actually with AI you can just bunker up and they can't even kill you, which is the reason many people when they play online for the first time just get all cannons / bunkers and turrets / spores and sunkens and like 1 factory.
Also, it is commonly mistaken that you need only 1 worker per mineral.
You should have more than that (3-4 for each mineral, if you get to much expo and send some to the expo) and 3-4 workers on a gas.

You can't win with bunkers... leapfrogging takes way too long. I actually figured out on my own that the best strat was to HM push every T level, and it actually worked, despite taking more time with Z. They just don't seem to know how to mass muta/ling ;D

Yeah, exactly my point that after playing campaigns people tend to just get defense - instead of offense.

Lol @ middy (about the comment on the correct number of SCVs made after initial 4 not being a single d number. :D)
Personaly I make em until I'm so wraped up with other things that I forget. (which is usually about the right time to stop anyways.)
HM Tank push is the easy way to beat the missions :( The missions are where I like to try stupid strats like massing wraiths. :P

Or mass vessel+SCV :D
Did that on BW 3... absolutely hilarious. Irradiate everything, then dmatrix SCVs against sunkens. Took about 2 hours, but it was worth it :D

Lol... isn't that from a custom campaign? It was like the second mission of terrans where at the end, you get chased by impossibly lots of zergs...
