View Full Version : Ending boss?

Well, what/who would you like to fight for an end boss? A cerebrate? Clone of Kerrigan? Ultralisk? Something new? kinda wondering.

Well, as long as they do not make the storyline to much in depth. Like I do not want Nova going in killing Duran, killing Kerrigen and over throwing the scourge. She can go kill Duran all she wants and she can reveal the hybrid race, but she better not overthrow the Zerg command.
It will be good no doubt.

I think Nova's "final great dead" should be infiltrating, arming and destroying a large, heavily defended building, personally. This building should, of course, have some special significance to the game and storyline. Maybe the final cutscene can be of her making a hasty exit as the building is erupting all around her - dunno.

The final scene of her fleeing a exploding building isint to original and you know Blizzard will step over this. ^^

Jackson Hauler. By the end of the game, she would be considered a threat to the former Nova Squadron. Based on past experience, the last advanced Ghost, Kerrigan, was infused into the Swarm and eventually became their master. If not that route, Nova becoming a rogue element would make her too much of a threat to their organization and would have to be eliminated.
Scauthra

So what you are saying is the confederacy (or UED) will consider to much of a threat and murder her? That would indeed be a new ending. : )

Maybe a showdown with one of the zerg heros.

Dunno, mabye you could have something really cool, like say....
Nova plants a nuclear bomb inside a Protoss Carrier. While that's happening, the Carrier is being attacked by Wraiths. Nova sets the timer to a minute and a half, and activates. She turns around, fires her gun into the side of the wall, and the wall detaches. A huge gust of wind comes flying into the room, and Nova looks back. The timer says 45 seconds. She turns around, and jumps out. It goes into slow motion, and Nova turns in midair, sees a Wraith flying at her, and grabs onto the tailfin.
So, the final boss would be the other terran Wraiths, with you on the back of one, firing at them with one hand. ^_^
Dunno.

I don't think any of the heros is going to die in the game. Maybe the last level will just be a lot harder then all of them.

I could see something like a Cerebrate being killed, but I'm with stealthy on this one, I just can't see Nova killing off a main character from the Starcraft saga, they could always create new characters though.

I just got done with Fire Warrior,(which rocks,BTW) and I fought a bunch of midlevel bosses, and one real hardass boss at the end. Maybe it'll be like that. Zerg heros, and Torrasque at the end.
I hope there wouldn't be a final boss...but more like a final level that's extremely hard. Like a group of ultralisks through a Nydus Canal, for example.
Something new, and creative would be nice. A single do-or-die boss fight occurs way too much in video games these days...but I won't be surprised if this is the case with Ghost.
i think the zerg shuld get destroyed by terran

Nova walked silently through the corridors of the fallen Terran Battlecruiser. The latent protoss energy swirled all around her... but... this was different. Somehow... she knew. This energy was... tainted.
She reached the mess hall. Before her were dozens upon dozens of dead Terran. Alien insects buzzed around the carcasses which must have been there for a long time. One skeletal figure sitting at the captain's table gripped a mug that said "Fill Her Up". It showcased a picture of an ambled breasted woman.
Nova's first observation was everyone in the room seemed to have died in a single instant. Each body was still in a chair at a table, appearantly enjoying each other's company. This could only mean something... killed them all at once. Otherwise, why wouldn't the others run after the initial attack? Whether it be to counter or flee?
It was then Nova heard, or rather, sensed the incoming attack. She ducked just in time to avoid a motion above her head. She saw a slice in the wall, but nothing to fill it.
"Dark Templars..." She thought, taking evasive action.
It was then she knew the templar must be stuck in the wall. A sudden crackle of energy brought the alien out of its cloak.
"What the?" Nova said, her rifle already shouldered and her eye on the sight.
The Templar's eyes blazed crimson, but beneath a pulsing purple... infection? Nova couldn't describe it. It could only be an infested Protoss. It was then she saw the others come into sight. All of them had the same "creep-like" muck growing out of them like a horrible fungus.
It was then they began to chant.
Making no sound, they're minds buzzed around Nova's. She heard their screeching torment as they combined their consciousnesses and began to move towards each other. The seven or eight Dark Templars grabbed each other and crimson archs of energy seemed to electrify each and every one of them. Their chant became more and more frenzied.
They were merging.
Nova backed away from the towering, burning sphere of crimson fire. Limbs began to form within its depths. Pink at first, and then molting, discarding the purple muck. Zerg carapaces emerged from on the limbs, but now it appeared the dark templar's flesh was tainting the carapace and not the other way around. The final result was a bipedal zerg/protoss hybrid that towered 5 feet over Nova.
Its tail, ending in a mace-like ball, whipped back and forth. Its mandibles were of Hydralisk origin, but much more complex. Acidic bile dripped onto the mess hall floor. Its eyes were those of the burning templars. It burned with such intensity, Nova's shadow danced behind her on the wall. The monster's front appendages, three-fingered protoss with Zergling claws protruding from each digit, but much larger, crashed to the ground. Each appendage was big enough to hold Nova in its palm. Still towering over her, even while on all fours, the beast let out an ear piercing shriek. A ridge on its back rose, revealing hundreds of Hydralisk spines.
Nova just held her ground, took aim, and said aloud.
"If you're done freshening up... let's get this over with..."

It would suck if Nova turned out to be Kerrigan, just with a nickname, and the whole game was about her missions up until the infestation.
.... Nah, I kinda doubt that.
She might face Kerrigan or Duran at the end, but who says she has to kill one of them. Maybe she'll fight one of them and then be a hero in SC2.
Valjean
02-16-2004, 8:35 PM
Bah. I don't want Nova to be a hero in SC2. I just don't see it happening...I can see her being the first to find a hybrid and then kicking it's ass. But after it's beat, a last cinamatic starts. The hybrid makes one last move before death. It uses a psionic attack on Nova, and then, the hybrid gets up with Nova distracted and then, you see the world through th eyes of the hybrid. You see it raise it's arm. You see nova clutching her head.
Suddenly, the screen goes black. You hear the sound of a blade moving in the air and a loud scream. Then, a loud thunk. Then it unfades and you see the hybrid, breathing heavily. Then it falls over as well. The camera moves down. You then see Nove, lying on the ground, bleeding, eyes open.

Dramatic, I heavily agree with you that she'll most likely fight a hybrid at some point in the game. I don't know about her dying though, although SC did have a tendancy to kill alot of the heroes in the game. I just can't wait to buy it :mad2: ....

Impaled on the scythe-like blades of the Hybrid, Nova is pulled into the reactor core with it. As she bleeds to death from massive internal and external damage, she presses the detonator, setting the nuke off. The reactor, that would have been used to radiate chaotic energy to taint every Protoss in the universe with Zerg pysche; making them slaves to Kerrigan, explodes in a massive, earthshaking explosion. Thousands of Zerg are blown to pieces as Nova's fellow Terran take off into the air. As they are leaving the planet's orbit, a huge red dot flares on the surface.
It cuts to an award ceremony in Nova's honor. Blah blah blah.
Then! =P
The best part, it shoots to Kerrigan's master hive, where a bluish energy penetrates the walls and strikes the dark queen. Her eyes suddenly glow with the dark Zerg/Protoss hybrid fire and a new voice passes her lips. It is Nova's.
"So ends the reign of the queen of blades..."
Her skin begins to peel and molt as the Zerg/Protoss muck flourishes on her and on the surrounding hive(s).
"Now begins the reign of the Queen of Immortals...
The Zerg and the Protoss have found their place in the universe. As one, we will conquer all species before us. The universe will be of one terrible mind... and peace... will follow."

I have two ideas here:
1)Your average "Kill the last boss, possible short, timed, gameplay sequence where you have to escape something, roll cinematic, roll credits endings":
Nova vs. Kerrigan, Duran, ect., the Enemy, severely injured, flees after Nova wins, and lives to fight another day.
2)The relatively unused "Fight off a large mass of enemies while waiting for something to happen" Ending: Simple. Nova is holding off a massive Zerg onslaught, maybe a Boss-like thing at the end (Torrasque or a Hunter Killer or something), end of game.
Valjean
02-18-2004, 9:13 PM
Torrasque or hybrid would be the best ending bosses...maybe if you kill the ending boss like for example a Torrasque in 2 minutes, you'll get to go onto a secret level where you fight a hybrid and find stasis cells and stuff. More Hybrid treats. And you also find Duran using infomation from old confederate instalations and crap. O.o MORE FORESHADOWING!! >_<

Remember that this is going to be a crucial point in Starcraft's story, or so says the FAQ. Killing off a hero is a possibility.
I wish Blizzard would make a SC Ghost expansion for PC as a real shooter.

The last boss has to be an Overmind. Maybe a cloned version of the original that has been developing in secret on a far-flung planet, or maybe it's a whole new Overmind. Perhaps there are more Zerg out there in the universe being controlled by separate Overminds, each group slightly different. A whole new race of Zerg could arrive to try and wrest control from Kerrigan. Or something. Whatever.
The overmind is still there, controlled by the terrans. But then again, I have my sc mixed up since I didnt play single since 2000.

I would like to see her fight Duran...Then after you beat him he starts laughing then vanish's after he's revealed his true self again.
There is already an Ultralisk boss...I believe i saw that in a screen shot once.
As for the whole "wraith" idea it sounds a bit anti-climatic to me. I mean the final level of this big adventure is a fighter that you could destroy with 1 missle turret in starcraft?

Well, it's good to know that your necromancy skills are in good condition. ;) It's usually not a good idea to revive a thread over half a month old, although there are exceptions. Oh well.
I personally would rather fight a ghost that has more than the skills you have. A dark Nova, I suppose. That way you would have to use a lot of skill.

Well, there have already been screenshots of a few other ghosts (they looked like the ones you could build in the original SC). I bet fighting those will be like fighting female assassins in Half-life and Return to Castle Wolfenstein (funny how they both had them...), only hopefully a little harder.
In any case, I hope Nova's not another cliched, smartass hero. She should act the way she fights: elitefully (if that's a word, hehe). And not too much talking to herself either (if it's possible).
Am I the only one who thinks spore colonies look goofy in S:G? I don't like the way Siege Tanks shoot either. You'd think in the year 2500 (or whenever) they'd figure out how to make artillery shells fly through the air faster than 5 mph. Oh well, I'll still get the game, and I'm sure they'll make it work (though I'm a bit skeptical... they have lost a lot of people since the original SC, and not to mention they're working with another game company).
Anybody else's thoughts?
Oh yeah, and by the way there shouldn't be a final boss. Just a cool last level!

Choice 1: She has a mission objective to detonate Daggoths Broods (Biggest, and most likely hardest) Main Hive Cluster while allied forces hold the broods army on the front lines. At the final stage, after she has planted the bomb and set it for 5 mintues, Nova sees Duran working on some sort of Hybrid "Psi" energy, she stays hidden. All the sudden the Psi energy shoots up into the cealing and disappears for a second then you hear and huge rumbling sound and all the sudden the walls start glowing blue. Then the camera changes to the external hive view for just a second and the hive starts to *grow* into a Xel'Naga looking building. With Reinforced Walls, and giant *saber* like tower at the top. Back on the inside of the hive, Nova sees duran take with him a small test tube, (Most likely Terrazine Gas). She start to run after him... She loses him inside the deep and maze like hive passages. She stops for a moment when a dripping sound can be heard just behind her ear... she looks behind her and sees nothing, looks to her left and right and again nothing. Then hears the strange noise again... the camera slowly looks up and you see, a Monstrosity, it looks like a lurker but has protoss armor, and a voice system. It also resembles a dragoon, but has 6 legs and a distinggwishable head. It walks down from the cealing but you cannot see it, its footsteps get louder and louder. Until you see it in the light... And then there is some climactic boss battle (sort of like in LOTR ROTK with Shealob:P ) that is timed, which you have to beat within 5 mintues (Or you die and are seen evaporating into itty bitty pieces of dust). Once you beat the creature the game pauses the timer and cuts to zoom in on the body. It starts whizzing and fizzing, and explods from the inside. What you see inside is a blend between machine and organisms. Then the remaining timer is resumed and you hear a slight voice come through on your comlink. "Ghost Nova we have emergency evac coming in to pick you up outside the hive" now have to run like hell to get to the dropship with a small group of marines covering the area. Once you get onboard, and into space.... the camera moves to a port hole, which can see an entire continent from the planet explode. A marine asks Nova, what was going on down there?! She Replies: Something that never should have been created..." then Fade out "The End"
Or.... we have
Choice 2: (All cinematic) Same plot but different after she plants the bomb. Nova hears a strange *gargling* noise, and continues walking through the hives corridors. When she sees a room with a silver glow coming from the walls. She walks in... the camera views her walking around this glowing room, when her shadow (yes her shadow) moves off of her body and into this glowing wall. She comes up to the edge of the room and sees a slight reflection of herself. She focuses her eyes on the reflection and the focuss slowly becomes clearer. Once it is in full focuss it looks exactly like her. But, it starts to fade... until it is suddenly gone. Then it reapears, same as before slowly coming into focuss... but this time, it is an unthinkable looking monster with red eyes, large fangs, and dark black skin, with diseases and infections all over its body. Its demonic looking eyes seem to point at Nova. She becomes startled and one of her gadgets flies off her body as she stumbles backwards. The device goes into the wall like the wall was liquid. She slowly gets up and puts her hand up to the wall and the same thing happens. She removes it almost instantly. But too late... the demonic creature that stared at her through the *mirrior* grabs her. Fade to Black. A voice starts to talk, "Welcome Nova... I've been expecting you, now you shall know your true fears, and its energies." Fade with nuclear explosion sound "To be continued".
What does every one think of those 2?

Shit. That was good. I wouldn't be surprised if Blizzard made a special trip to the forum to ask to use your idea. I thought that would be a good ending boss as well, a Hybrid. Nothing is known about them, so the fight would be completely foriegn. Really good ending. You get two cookies and a doughnut for that one. :cookie: :cookie: :donut:

How about this
Out of the space a single piloted wraith lands down on the outscirts of the planet Charr and a pair of heros, a ghost and a high templar, jump out sprinting up a cliff side. Running up to the end of the cliff and front flipping of the ghost Nova is seen soaring above a hoard of advancing zerg preparing for what seems to be an assult. Nova lands on the other side of the cannon and grabs the high templar who barly makes it and hoists him up. they continue sprinting ahead. Then she stops looking at the creep covered ground and scoping in the distance to see sunken colonies. Nova and the high templar exchange glances and the templar raises his hand making two halluciantion of Nova and sends them running to the far right. Nova herself cloaks and goes disables the sunkens signaling the HT to follow. They get into the heart of the departed zerg base only to find ultralisks to meet her. The HT is taken out right away in a Cini scene leaving Nova to fight them and run up to a building to find Kerrigan sitting in a throne. A cini shows again with Kerri telling Nova she expected her to show up faster and reviles it was all just a set up. The Zerg are not going on a assult but excaping the ready to blow planet. Then Kerri introduces you to her "special pet" which is a new zerg unit. Large as a ultralisk, flys like a mutalisk, shoots like a hydralisk, and stabs like a....ultralisk. There is also a timer to defeat the boss and excape the planet that is about to explode. You see her run back to the wraith get in and the planet blows all in one cini scene. Then you see a sparkle and a wraith flying out of the blast.

What if Nova fought another deranged ghost? How pleasant would the sound of psionic abilities clashing in an epic duel to the death be?

Or if she fought Duran, or one of the Xel Naga. That would make it fit into the Starcraft storyline.

This thread still exists after all this time? Kinda scary. Then again it's also dissapointing the game hasint gone anywhere, from what we've seen since this thread started. : (
Anyways, depending on the story in the game we can't really figure out who the end boss will be. Perhaps a hybrid, or a special brooded zerg, mutated to a dangerous degreee that it could overthrow Kerrigan if it so choose to. Perhaps even a traitor to the UED that's gone mad with power, has secret information that he stole to make himself a ghost. When Nova finally reaches him he infuses himself with the energy, but his body can't take it and he starts to shake. He fears his death then quickly fills himself with a counter agent, but he mistakenly took the wrong needle and filled himself with zerg mutation liquid. The two mixtures take control of his body and he becomes a bit taller, muscular, psionic controlled and deformed, like a hydralisk. Half zerg-human.
So Nova would be up against a Ghost-Hydralisk hybrid. I dunno! x.x

This thread has been deragned with the thoughts of "let's have ghost fight a dark ghost or something" i mean, thats really redundant from all the other games out their IE the new metroide prime, where Samus has to fight a Dark Samus and tons of other games, I do like what The_Maker and Carnage had in mind tho. That would rock

Here's an idea. Since this is mostly a stealth game, maybe there won't be an actual 'boss' at the end, but just a really hard and puzzling level that reveals all sorts of neat stuff about the sc universe. Or maybe the last boss won't be so much a boss as a target. Like assasinating duran. The level is really hard and in the midst of a huge battle nova is supposed to stealthily take out duran without getting killed by his hybrids.
