I have four computers hooked up to a LinkSys router that feeds into Verizon. Many times are internet connection goes down . I then unplug, and replug the router and it works. Usually when this happens the router is EXTREMELY hot.

So where ist he problem located and how can i fix it?

Extremely hot? That sounds like the router is overheating which causes the malfunction of disconnecting from the internet. If I were you I would check if the heat can get out of the router or if it isn't placed on anything that submits heat. Also placing a fan nearby could help.

Try moving it a bit, making sure that's there's a little bit of space between the surfaces so that air can flow through. If you place it on a carpet or other soft surface, the airflow underneath it can be restricted, allowing it to overheat.

Carry your refrigerator into the room where your computer is. It's not that hard, get some other fellas to help you, and get those sliding things that go underneath it from Home Depot, it's real easy to move. Unless you have to carry it upstairs. In that case, it can get a little tricky. Take your fridge outside, and put it underneath the window to the computer room. Tie some strong cable around the fridge, run the cable over a tree branch, and then feed it through a come-along. Hoist the refrigerator up and in through the window. Now plug it in, and stick your router inside it. Problem solved!

Wouldn't that cause the electrons to slow down and cause futher problems?

Actually, since it allows for a better dissapation of heat, the electrons would encounter less resistance and speed up. That's how superconductors work.

Yes, but if it cools down TOO much, then... oh wait, my brain just switched on and remembered what it learned a while ago. Nevermind, I remember now, I thought that if it got too cold, it slowed down, but I forgot about what I had learned before.. Bah.

Do all posts degenerate into spam? Just wondering.

Well, your question really was answered by Exedore, and the thread should have died after his post. It was hammocksleeper who started the spam, and I just added to it (but in my defense I was correcting Whiteknight).

I do have a question though; did Exedore's solution work?
