Do you think that there are other intelligent beings out in space?

SHISHKABOB, why can't we hear what you believe before you ask others to comments? Such is the idea behind this forum, otherwise this is better suited for Member's Lounge.

Maybe he's just trying to act like the observer new members usually are.
But yes as Nuts said ..what do you think on the matter

IMO life should exist outside of earth albeit not in a form we'd easily recognize

I think life exists on other planets, and there is probably intelligent life somewhere. The probablility of this is huge but i wont go into statistics (because they are all wrong).

Some things have to be seen to be believed, others have to be believed to be seen.

I doubt that we are the only intelligent life forms. There must intelligance out there somewhere. If not intelligant life ill bet there is some mold growing on an asteroid.

Then again life is such a mystery, such a fluke that this planet could have the only life in existance.

If you wish to actually know. I DARE you, I outright challange you to read "Abduction to the ninth planet". I can give you a word document copy, or you can click my homepage feature and you will be taken to the site where you can read it online. If you really wish to know, its you're prerogative.

Isnīt this perhaps a to common question that has been worned out?

Same as with, "Does god exsist"?

Neo
05-24-2004, 12:56 PM
Well as opposed to Does God exist, there seems to be much more proof suggesting that Aliens do exist and are visiting us xD

Heck some Astronauts/Cosmonauts claim to have seen stuff moving up there all the time, a snake, a ship that followed a shuttle for awhile... etc...

Its neat actually.

And besides, when you have these groups of people experiencing Alien encounters (IE: in AFrica a group of 62 children claimed to have scene a "landering" of a UFO and a couple of aliens -- on top of that to this day none of them refute thier stories, and all of them describe it the same way, with very little varying details, exceptsome think that they are warning us, others think they are telling use something, etc... But most of them agreed that they eyes "were terrible")

Whatever... >_>

Personally I dont care if Aliens are visiting us, just stay the hell away from me ;D

Though who knows... The "grey" type aliens have always evoked a strange fear in me... YOu know I miss those old Ancient Prophecies shows... those were fun :)

I donīt think Greys exsist.

If there are aliens, then I think they look more like us.
Perhaps there are Super-Technolity cunning Blood Elves out there.

Or Zerg.

And what makes yoiu think that? Is it just that all the usual pictures have aliens with a humanoid body? I personally think there are intelligent life forms in space because there just has to be using probabillty. But I think the aliens will look much different than us and behave totally different.

GrassDragon
05-27-2004, 3:46 PM
I think they will look much different too. There are too few planets with our type of enviroment (I think it's called the Goldilock's enviroment or something like that) to have aliens living on the same type of planet as us. And if their planet is different, one would assume that they look different because they've adapted to their enviroment.

I'm not exactly positive what the Naga or Covenant are (covenant is Halo I think, Naga sounds like Warcraft), but I don't think aliens will look like anything we have seen before. The human imagination just cannot think up weird enough stuff, everything has to be more-or-less based on a humanoid form.

Perhaps there are those that are energy based.
Kinda like Wraiths.

Likely there are aliens that will resemble humans, and then there will be those that a totally weird. It seems opposable thumbs are almost a pre-requisite of using tools, so most higher life forms have various similaritys.

GrassDragon
05-27-2004, 10:36 PM
Opposable thumbs may not be a prerequisite for using tools. If aliens had another form of limbs like many tentacles, or weren't fully corporeal, they might not need opposable thumbs.

Yeah, there are many other ways. The chances of seeing an alien humaniod is VERY unlikely.

Let's just play that old Pink Floyd song into a giant sound transmitter...

Is there anybody... OUT THERE?

Read this- http://www.cnn.com/2004/TECH/space/05/27/baby.solar.systems/index.html. It says our solar system is not unlike many others formed by the milky way. That means there is higher chance of aliens.

Guys I can not agree more, aliens do exist, after all space is vast and would be at least too lonely for us to live in, not to mention that we would end up suiciding as there would be nothing to wage war against!!! :)
Well think like this for a moment anyway: In some part of this universe there is another race having the same thoughts that we do and we are the aliens for them, its cool!!!
Or if we encountered another sentient form less technologically advanced would we contact them and enlighten them or conquer them? What would happen to us in the same situation? After all,all are politics and we have nothing to do with it as we will never know till its time to play the footies' part!!!

I am a strong beleiver in other lifeforms out there.
They may not look like ET or Alien but think about this.
Every star in the sky is a sun. So there must be life out there. There could even be a form of life for every star out there. Heck the aliens could just be spacebugs!

I don't think you understand this correctly. Have you ever looked at a hertz-russell diagram?

Here is one- http://www.telescope.org/btl/data/hertz.gif
There are many stars and many are not like ours. Some are hotter, some are cooler, some are bigger, some are smaller. You get the picture. Also it is very unlikely that any life would be formed on a star. Maybe a planet that is near the star. Also space bugs isn't really what shiskabob was talking about. There is a difference between life forms and intelligent life forms.

I believe there has to be some sort of intelligent life form out there... If there is there has to be thosands, and there could be at least one race that is humanoid. I've never played Halo what do the covenant look like?

Why hasn't beliving that there is life on other planets ever been considered a valid religion? Is it because you don't worship anything if you believe?

Frattimonde

Kinda Like this!
But this Is one of many, since the covenant Is a unity of several species.
This one Is callled "Elite".

Because of my relilgion, I strongly believe in alien life, exactly like us, but far too far away to contact unless technology gets to the point where we can go into "hyperspace" or "warp" or whatever and jump from place to place instantly.

Ever hear of the Miller-Urey experiments? Its an experiment that mimics what earth's enviroment was like when it just cooled. the result in the end mixture were amino acids, nucleotides, and lipids. These manipulated each other, and theory goes sooner or later when they all came together, they formed the first 'cells'. Its gotta be possible that this can happen somewhere in the universe, as there are billions of planets. Who knows, aliens don't even have to have cells. They could be made up of carbohydrates for all we know, if the materials existed on other planets... maybe there are other forms of atoms that we havn't discovered that make up the aliens. Impossible to tell till we find one (and maybe even then impossible), but I strongly believe that there is something else out there, somewhere.

Yes, I have heard about the Miller-Urey experiments. The way amino acids were created was by having mini lightning bolts. They somehow create amino acids when they react with the surroundings.

There has to be aliens out there. And yeah, actually they could live near shitty stars (or stars that aren't like ours, rather). For instance, if you live far enough away from a Red Giant, the water (if there is any) wouldn't dry up. If you were close enough to a white dwarf, you wouldn't freeze.

And of course, we must imagine the fact that maybe some lifeforms aren't water-based. Maybe they're gas-based, energy-based, whatever. But this would allow them to survive in much more hostile environments than humans.

I personally think these two facts (okay, one's a fact, one's a theory) significantly improve chances for alien life. And like everyone keeps saying, it doesn't have to be intelligent. It could be semisentient sacs of gas-based flesh, for all we know. But yeah, if there's the possibility for all that life there is still a possibility for sentient life.
