F.E.A.R.
Operation Devil's Nest
First of all, this Role Play is completely separate from the events of either the original F.E.A.R. or F.E.A.R. Extraction Point. In truth, only the paramilitary unit and the mysterious events that confront them are similar. For those of you not familiar with the game, please read on anyway. It is quite easy to understand, and I hope that you will join.

Background of First Encounter Assault Recon
In 2002, the United States government formed an elite paramilitary organization dedicated to combating paranormal and supernatural threats to National Security. They called this unit First Encounter Assault Recon, aka F.E.A.R. This special forces group is a black project unit, and as such very few are privy to information about them. They have complete authority to use deadly force, and are not subject to orders by 'normal' military commanders. Once in the field, they act autonomously. Given the nature of their duties, F.E.A.R. operatives must be both physically and mentally hardened, and they must be able to handle things most people have never dreamed of.

The Briefing
Arriving at your desk just after ten am, a little after morning physical training, you find a folder marked 'Classified'. Taking out the files inside, you sit down and begin reading.

Operation Devil's Nest

-Situation Report
On October twenty ninth, the year two thousand and six, all contact with the American cruise liner Morning Star was cut. This relatively new passenger vessel was carrying over fifteen hundred men, women, and children on a voyage out into the Caribbean, including our primary objective Senators Dick Charles and Sarah Reeve (Both fictional). Approximate location is known, but GPS systems are completely scrambled due to unknown factors. Vessel was due in port three days ago. Coast Guard patrol craft spotted the Morning Star yesterday night at eleven twenty two pm. Radio ails were met with a lot of white noise, static, and one long scream from an unknown female. Flag signalling was attempted, but also failed. Coast Guard personnel spotted, through long range copes, series of flashes and distant sounds. Possible gunfire aboard, craft carries armed security personnel on board. Information was relayed to F.E.A.R. four hours ago from Langley, Virginia. Coast Guard reported sightings of what they call a 'dark, hooded figure' moving around the top decks. Suspected of causing the events that led to the ceasing of all communications. Navy Seal nits are unable to investigate, as are Delta Force. F.E.A.R. selected as point unit.

-Objectives
+ Investigate the events that led to the loss of the Morning Star
+ Find and escort Senators Charles and Reeve off of the craft

-Insertion
Insertion via fast patrol boat in nine hours. Entrance into craft is granted by aft speed boat dock used by tourists. A Uh-60 Black hawk will fly the team to our Miami office, where we will talk more in depth.

-Extraction
Extraction will be accomplished by UH-60 Black hawk off of port pool deck no more than twelve hours after initial insertion. Contact by UHF transmission when requesting dust off.

The Standard Weapons of F.E.A.R. (All weapons will be called by their true names)
The Heckler and Koch USP-40 Pistol
Standard side arm of F.E.A.R. operatives, the USP fires a .40 round from a thirteen round magazine. It comes complete with a rail under the barrel that can support lights or laser sights.

The Heckler and Koch MP-5/10 and 40 Submachine Guns
A further model of the incredibly popular MP-5, the MP-5/10 and 40 models fire 10 mm or .40 caliber rounds respectively from thirty round magazines or sixty round drums. Drum mags drastically reduce recoil, but increase the weight of the weapon and they also decrease manuverability. Lights can also be attached

The Heckler and Koch SL8-1 Assault Rifle
A new assault rifle designed by the veteran gun smiths of H and K, the SL8 uses a time tested operating system inside an all new synthetic frame. It fires a 5.56mm round from fifteen or thirty round magazines, and can support light attachments or low powered scopes.

The Steyr Scout Bolt Action Rifle (New for the RP)
A now popular Austrian bolt action rifle, the Scout fires a 7.62mm high powered round from a five round magazine. A space in the synthetic stock holds a second magainze for quick reloads. This rifle will support a variety of scopes and IR scopes.

The SPAS-12 Combat Shotgun
Built by experienced Italian Shotgun makers, the SPAS-12 is a powerful, versatile combat shotgun that fires 12 Gauge shells from an eight round tubular magazine underneath the barrel. This weapon can fire a varietly of shells, from bean bags to powerful slugs.

Grenades
A multitude of these explosives are availiable to F.E.A.R. operatives. They range from smoke and tear gas to high explosive and new plasma models.

All weapons below this point are fictional. For purposes of increased realism, some weapons from the game have been cut, and the remaining weapons are regulated.

10mm High Velocity Penetrator
The HV Penetrator fires powerful 10mm spikes at super sonic speeds that can break through armor easier than almost anything, and are incredibly deadly. It has a twenty five round magazine, but the mags are bulky and only a few can be carried. (Two extra, tops)

Type-7 Particle Weapon
The Type-7 is a brand new laser device that fires ionic beams. These cause immense heat, enough so that a human struck by this weapon is almost instantly vaporised. However, the great energy drain kills power cells very qucikly. ( Twenty shots )

Okay, got some signups. That is good. Reko, drop the rank from Captain to something lower than Sergeant Major. Otherwise you would be leading the RP, and I am the Team Leader. Plus, you are carrying two main weapons. So sorry, but that is a no go. You can keep either the Particle weapon or the shotgun, but not both.

I've sent Captain a PM asking some questions to help round the char out (mostly background related). Unsure if we have stun grenades (or if they'll even be useful here), and am willing to change those to a different type if necessary.
