As your new (old) moderator, I'd like to announce a few things...

First of all, I think all of us, RP'ers or not, should thank Ender for the outstanding job he did as a moderator. I can't think of anything but praise for this guy. I'm pretty sure all of us appreciate the work he's done, and I think it's only fair that we post and let him know.

An RP Moderator. What's it all about:

The roleplay forum is really a specialty forum. Comparing it with the other forums, it's obviously very unique. We can't just post random stuff in this forum. As a result, it requires some special attention because things are done differently.

I'm not going to discuss roleplaying here, however, I'm going to cover some of my responsibilities and tell you what I will and will not be doing.

I'll be performing all the duties of a normal moderator. Deleting posts, spam, etc., and all that fun stuff. In addition, I'm going to be:


Providing general help for RP's. If you guys have any questions about RP's, or if you want general advice or my opinion, feel free to PM me! If you ask me to critique your 50-page RP, I may not get back to you in time but I'll try helping in anyway possible!
Insure that RP's run smoothly, and by that I mean making sure no one screws it up. However, it's not possible for me to read all the posts in the forum and usually, I will not be following each thread. Therefore, I request you to PM me with anything that you need done, and I'll try to do it ASAP.
What I can't do:


I can't override a GM's rule. I've had people ask me to do this before. Whatever the GM says, that usually goes. I can't make them change the story, or prevent them from enforcing some (stupid) rule. If they are being unfair to you in an RP, that's their choice. :/
Overall, I'm here to help you guys in anyway that I can. If you're stuck, I'm the guy you want to contact. I'll be more than happy to help you guys out in anyway that you need, and I'm always open to suggestions.

FYI, Ender wasn't a temporary mod while I was gone. I was busy with life and I left and then Ender was promoted. He got busy with life and was about to leave and I came back... weird how it worked out.

I like the idea of having seperate Sign-up/OOC/RP threads. Less cluttered in the thread, however cluttering it may make the actual threadlist...

AJ should make a new mod I think... is it possible to make sub threads? to have a selection you can select... that would make a Sign-up and OOC subthreads of a RPG thread?

ie: I make a thread "StarcraftX" and it would make 2 sub-threads... "StarcraftX: Sign-Up" and "StarcraftX: OOC"

Just a thought. :)

The short answer is no, Sikawtic. I'm the one who recommended this procedure to Ender because as Vhaeruan said, it simply clogs the forum up with OOC topics and stuff. The threads are usually revived once in a while, and when you have 10 people in one RP... having 3 threads isn't really worth it. It's personally annoying sifting through 3 threads for each RP. However, it's incredibly useful if you're in the RP.

That sub-threads idea is really interesting. I'd recommend making a thread about it in the support forum if you're really interested

It's sad to see Ender leave the community, and lose his moderator title, but even so, he was a skilled player of roles (Hence, roleplayer), and I salute all that he did in the back. He was definately one of my closest friends here on the forums in the roleplaying community, and I do hope his vision lives on for an excellent rolepalying community.
