With the influx of new features to warboards I was thinking that it would be pretty cool to have an interactive warboards stock market. You could buy, sell, trade, or just hold on to your favourite stocks for fake monies, and your warboard's net worth could be displayed under your avatar(or if you want to make it simpler for the admins just in your signature manually.) Just a suggestion, I think it would be really fun.

Hahah, I've never seen anything like that, but that'd be really cool. I'm not sure how the stock market would work, but perhaps each person could create their own stock. (i.e. Black.Ice, Inc).
Karma, etc., has a positive effect on stock prices. Going long days without posting decreases value, or something to that effect.

There should also be a randomness factor to it. Every few hours a script is run, and the stock goes up or down in value. Winners of contests... maybe even activeness in the IRC should make it go up :P

I like the idea personally, if well planned that is.

I think that we should start out with a semi-non player based stocks. So you could buy somthing noncommittal like QOO, or somthing of that nature, but not PCY(Protosschick99). That way you don't make it such a popularity contest where Kong Inc AKA SKPY is worth a lot more than [newperson's name] corp AKA NWB, possibly making the founder of NWB depressed and the such, which is not, in my opinion, the point of somthing as stupid as this. We already have reputation for popularity contests, we don't need to back it up with OrgStock sales of NWB being the lowest in recorded history.

the stocks could be character names from games like thrall, kerrigan, or Deckard Cain

I like the idea, but I think we should just use real stocks, at least in the beginning.

Coding a stock market application would be a horrendus waste of time, as there are already websites that simulate markets. Sites like invesopedia allow you to make a competition that people can join and buy stocks in, but it just wouldn't be integrated with this site.
