This site has other forums besides the Members Lounge! I'm a little disappointed that so few posters actually care about the Blizzard games :(

So here's the deal: I post some current or upcoming games, and you pick out all the ones that you feel like posting about. When this poll is over, some of the most popular games gets their own forums (at the staff's discretion).

I never stop tooting this horn, but FFXI. Another expansion is in the works from what I've heard, and in my opinion its one fo the best Multiplayer games I have played. Playing this kinda made me realize how mediocre Blizzard's games are, and I was a Blizz fanboy too. Ontop of the praise I have given it, it has won many awards.

The problem is that if nobody posts, we can't establish ourselves as major forums :)

You gotta spread the word about WarBoards.org! I am working up an incentive system to encourage you guys to post. The more on-topic posts you make in the gaming forums, the better the reward. And the rewards are pretty awesome! I'll explain more in another post tomorrow.

The WoW boards seem pretty active for a fledgling forum, and they'll only become more active once the beta begins.

Warcraft3 isn't all that dynamic right now, and as mcflurry_1982 said, most of our discussion has been done to death. Perhaps if war3 gets a patch in the near future, the forum will become more active. I've been hearing about a few possible imbalances that may require a patch to fix.


Back on topic, I vote for Half-Life mods OTHER THAN kiddiestrike. I especially like Natural Selection (http://www.natural-selection.org) which is a hybrid RTS/FPS and is very well done considering that HL is pretty old and the mod is free.

I played Natural Selection a few times with a buddy of mine, and I was astounded at how great it was! It required so much skill and different tactics, in comparison to several of the other mods I played. It's really more of a teamwork-like mod, which is cool.

There are lots of games that I really like - like Deus Ex and Neverwinter Nights - that I don't really see much discussion potential arising from.

Maybe you could make a "Game Anticipation" forum, where people can discuss upcoming games as they're been developed. If a game looks like it's going to have continual and consistant discussion after its release, it can be elevated to having its own seperate forum, whereas games that are fizzers can be dissed and forgotten ;)

If you want to do a forum on Half-Life Mods, then I would suggest on HL itself -- instead of restricting it to just one mod. But, no offence intended, almost all CS/NS/HL - crazed players all end talking like idiots "OMG I FR@GGED THAT B!ItCH!!!!" or whatever... :p

You should just make a forum for now thats like "Other Games" or something, and simply work from there as more and more people show up to talk about/obsess over games youll see which ones are more popular to "talk about" online.

It would be really neat, I think, to have an "Old Games" forum though, for old SNES games/etc... cuase sometimes those things just own :D And who wouldnt want to discuss SoM, FF6, Super Metroid, Megaman, Zelda, Old Mario Kart, etc... ^_~

Battfield 1942 crushes many of the other World War Two games multiplayer wise, since many of the levels are nicely done as well as you have multiple ways of going about what you want to do and multiple ways to kill/die. Call of Duty though, is amazing in single player, where it shines. In Battlefield 1942 the easy bots have a tendency to blow themselves up with grenades even their own allies (including you), in Call of Duty, the Allied and German units start pounding away and the levels are nicely done.

Heh yeah. In multiplay I perfer the Medic or the Anti-tank (bazooka) types. Simply put medics have the ability to heal themselves thus surviving longer than the average Assualt type and are able to heal your comrad.

The Anti-tank though, people laugh at me for this, is extremly strong as well. When I use any vehicle that I intend to stay with I use the Anti-tank. My reasoning: if I'm in a tank to tank battle and somehow manage to survive: usually one fish will finish off your enemy as well. If I'm in a plane, usually I'll get shot down near an enemy base, thus there are usually plenty of enemy vehicles that will be taking off or driving away. Also in my opinion, Anti-tank is better than the engineer because of it's ability to fire shots at vehicles at a distance instead of having to get close to blow up the enemy vehicle. Of course you lose some of the power that the ExPacks give you and the mine laying ability, but sitting in the grass and having a tank explode because you put a fish up it's ass is just as fun.

Snipers are alright too, but you have to know when to use them or what map to use them. On a map like Bocage, where you have a huge map but ususally only small areas where combat takes place (the main roads toward Spawn points) you can be a sniper and get on their side of the river and start picking them off, from behind. It takes them quite a lot longer to figure our where your coming from (thus allowing you to find a good spot and not have to move). Also it's so fun getting on the German side (where there are large bocages) and sniping the poor German snipers from behind or on the side and the idiots who try to swim across the river.

I think 5 was the one where they introduced the charging buster where you could hold down the button to build up your attack. To me that was revolutionary :P.

There's a new ending, too. When you blow up the one spaceship, it shows a marine and an alien, fighting over a gun. When they see the spaceship blow up, they give up and hug (?!). Funny stuff.

That isn't new. All you have to do is beat it on legendary and you get the super cool footage.

I'm trying to consider what/how you'd like to best go about this..

Considering a Square Enix forum, one or two others, and possibly Schwitz's Game Anticipation forum. What do you think?

As much as I'd love a Square Enix forum on itself, I don't think it would thrive.

Your best bet would to start off with a general non-Blizz RPG forum, and then add subforums as we need them from there. IE. If we do end up getting 20 threads a day on Square Enix games, then we'd move onto a a subforum from there, etc.

I'm not too sure about a separate RTS forum, as although there are quite a few other great RTS games out there (Ahh Age of Empires II), I don't think there are enough to pique the interest of enough people to allow the forum to thrive. I do, however, think something like Schwitz's Game Anticipation Forum would work out quite well. It would cover all of the games that people have interest in, but do not have the support to have their own forum.

It's great that Warboards is branching out though ^_^. Perhaps if we do get the support for other such games, we can begin to form other ORG sites ^_~ (I believe a Halo site was being discussed by a few members in the Site Discussion forum).

Room to expand about Blizzard... hmm. Square Enix might not be a bad idea, but seeing as its mainly just FF games, I dont see the point (granted they made a few others like Kingdom Hearts and such). Something like EA might do better since EA has a wide variety of games.. sports, racing (the entire NFS series kicks ass) etc. I assume we're staying with PC games, or are you going to try your hand @ consoles as well?

I agree with Radlin in the sense that I don't think a sole "Sqare Enix" forum would thrive on it's own, though I have noticed the lack of that very subject so far. I'm personally on a HUGE Final Fantasy XI kick right now, and the next best thing to playing it is discussing it with other fans. Unfortunately, other forums I've tried to join that deal with the game are generally littered with retards.

Anyway, I think an RPG forum (as in RPG games and MMORPGS, not playing "I slash your throat with a speedy roll of my d-20 +4" text games.) would be very welcome!
