As you enter the City you see a wonderfully bright sign that reads...
*Welcome to Empire City*
You look down on your letter and yes this is the place. You come in
and strike your best Super Hero pose.
"This is going to be the start of a wonderful career." you say out
loud not caring of the stares that you get. "I shall help this town find
The Great Protectors."
"Yea right buddy, you and the rest of them." says a random person
pointing to a a large line of people in various outfits that look back
and mutter their disgust at you taking the spot light off of them.
But you... you are unamused and decide you are going to be the one.
First things first, you must register. You look back down on
the letter and read it one more time...
*Greetings from a friend at Empire city. Things have gone from
bad to worse here and I think that time is in dear peril. The Great
Protectors have disappeared, as a matter of fact any super Hero with any
real great powers have too. People come to our town and disappear within
three days of getting here. It’s just like the minute they get here
they vanish. I, no I mean we, need your help. I have heard of your noble
deeds and heroism beyond measure and ask of your help. Please come.
I thank you immensely,
The Book*
You think back to the News that you had seen the night before and how
you vowed to make it all right. Your name would go down in legend as
the man who saved the Protectors. You strike one more pose as you
ponder this and head off ready to make your name.....
Yup, this is a super hero story and you play the part of a super hero.
Only one problem is that you don't have that great of a power. but you
have the courage (or just aren’t that bright.) to make things right.
And this world isn't that all that matters? The setting is in every
comic book of the golden age. Some of you are from different settings or
places. This is the capital city of the world where the Heroes
virtually wiped out the villains, or so we though because they had to do this didn't
they? But how? That is were you come in..
Character sheet. If you can't guess it, don't play.

Notes: This is a free formed RP. I have a general idea were we are going but if you have an idea or side quest use it and we will work around it. just don't do to many at once and make it somewhat within the realm of the RP. And yes it is going to be a semi-serious RP. Your first post should be your character getting to Empire City with your character sheet at the end of it. The next post is you registering. who ever does that first sets the stage and character for the rest of your charcters visit to the office so make it good.

Edit: I thought about it and I guess he might be a bit too strong. So I took away his ability to walk through solid objects, that should crapify him enough.

I'm going to do an intro post and get this underway like Q said in his opening post. First the introduction, second the registering...
---
A bitter wind swept through the deserted streets of Empire City. Matt Anderson, a skinny man with short, unkempt black hair wearing a dark hoodie sat in a coffee shop holding his Almond Rocha cappuccino between his hands. He raised the warm liquid to his nose, and slowly inhaled, filling his lungs with the bitter-sweet aroma.
«How the hell am I going to get it done? Ugh, I'm going to kill myself» A voice rang through his mind as he took a sip of the liquid, holding it in his mouth for a few seconds to savor the flavor before swallowing.
He slowly glanced around, his eyes locking on an attractive young women hunched over her table, furiously working on something, presumably homework. At first, the voices that came to him used to disturb him, however, he was becoming more accustomed to them. At first, they used to randomly come to him but now he was able to tune them out, or sometimes, direct it at a specific person. When it had begun, he didn't realize how violent people really were and what kind of thoughts they harbored, but now, he was getting used to them.
Matt slowly stood up and began walking towards the exit of the small coffee shop. Dark clouds ominously hung over his head, and the wind littered the streets with trash. Matt had given up his small-city life at the college for this? He knew it was worth it.
He sighed, and pulled the hood over his head, and began walking towards his apartment. As he walked, his mind went over the letter that The Book had sent him... he would register tomorrow, and help protect this city.
OOC: Wow, my first RP post in a long, long time. You should be honored, Q. Kind of serious right now, but I'll make it more light-hearted as time goes on.
As for the setting, I was thinking of it being cold, and October in a big city... I'm probably wrong though. Haha, who knows, maybe you want Empire City to be on a small, remote Tropical Island. That'd be kinda fun.

In a small dank room...
"Has the prisoner released any secrets yet?"
"No sir, but the mind control ray has at least allowed us to program him. It is still posible that he does not know anything."
"That could be but release him and keep me posted."
The man sits in the chair, bloodied and Semiconcious He is tied into it and a lone bulb hangs above his head. A metal clang is all he hears from outside his room as his bonds are released and the wall in front of him opens to the outside world.
He does what anyone in this situation would..
... He runs.

Robert Schmidt
"Bob's Hovel"
Introductions?
It was around mid-day, what little light reached the bar was grey and caught the dust that swam in the still air, Bob poured another shot of Whiskey into the dirty glass in front of a drunk patron and scratched the uneven stubble that covered the lower half of his face. Why wasn't he shaved if it was still just mid-day? It was a Wednesday that's why.
However that wasn't important, a large ammount of light poured down the stairs that led up to the streets and two heavy boots stomped down into the bar kicking up an unnatural ammount of dust.
The man was tall, clean shaven, well dressed and carried a shiny leather breifcase and a shiny black fedora. How he got his Fedora shiny is anyone's guess, but he had and he stuck out like a sore thumb in the dark and dusty pub. He smiled when he looked at Bob and approached the bar putting his fedora on the bar and his breifcase on the floor beside him as he sat down literally beaming. He made Bob feel uncomfortable in his own skin, like this man represented pure evil and wanted everyone to know it. This was confermed when he spoke, his perfectly straight teeth as shiny as his fedora.
"I heard you didn't renew your Property insurance, I've come to help write up a new contract for you."
His teeth flashed as he spoke, there wasn't enough light in all of "Bob's Hovel" to cause that. Bob had a hunch that his teeth were actually generating light.
"I didn't renew my insurance because I don't need it. This is a safe place to hang up your hat and have a drink. The man guffawed, Robert hadn't understood the true meaning of Guffaw until right then and he didn't like it.
"A safe place?!" The man asked, "You're in between a drug house and a Mafia-owned restaraunt! You're Stairs come out on an alley nicknamed "Hell's Hallway"! It's so dark in here you could drop a lit match and LOSE it! Well actually..." The man continued running his finger across the bar collecting a thick layer of dust. "The match would probably set this whole place on fire. Hell! You could keep a live tiger behind the bar and it'd probably be a SAFER place to drink! That's why you need insurance!"
A normal man might agree with these facts, might be hypnotised by the man's glowing teeth and his ridiculous shiny hat but Robert Schmidt wasn't normal! He was a hero! But he knew this man wasn't going to take "No" for an answer so he decided to reschedule the man's appointment for him to discuss insurance. After explaining why he couldn't talk right now, and giving the man a date to come back the man glew brighter still, replaced his hat on his head and picked his breifcase up off the floor.
"I knew you'd see it my way, I'll be back to meet you next week then!"
"Oh no no no!" Bob said shaking his head, "I'll be out of town next week, you'll be talking to a friend of mine that'll be covering for me. I trust him to take care of my bar and it's insurance while I'm gone."
"Oh," The hellspawn said, "Well what's your friend's name?"
"Tomy," Bob said fighting to keep a straight face. "He lives in the area, so I'll let him know that you're coming."
A short goodbye afterwards the glownig man was gone and the dust recovered where he and his shiny accesories were sitting. He'd be well taken care of when he came back next week, although Tomy wouldn't be too happy with him. As Robert had already negotiated insurance with Tomy's family; The Irish Mafia. Bob smiled, it might be unethical to trust a crime organization with him being a hero and all... but he wasn't a hero yet so there was no problem.
Without looking he poured the drunken patron at the bar some more whiskey and started cleaning glasses.
(OOC) You see, it's logical. Robert isn't a hero yet, so he's allowed to accept the Mob's offer for insurance. Once he is a hero he can keep the Mob along because they're already partners and the Hero's moral code means trusting your partners and looking out for them. Turning in the mob (being useful and all) would be less ethical then working with them because that would be betraying a partner.
Aren't loopholes fun? :D I'll get to Empire City by next post (OOC)

Kazen Tourvand
The Beginning
Kazen walked slowly through the slush that pervaded Empire Cities streets. other people walked around him, oblivious to each other and minding only their own business.
After crossing several streets he reached his apartment building and unlocked the front door. But instead of going into the warming embrace of the buildings interior he checked the mail.
Inside there was a red envelope. It was addressed to Kazen but the return address was missing. It appeared hand written, and simply smelled of ancient secrets.
"Well thats odd...I wonder who put this here..." Kazen said to himself absentmindedly, pocketing the note. He then reopened the door and walked inside.
Later, he sat in his small storage room. he had modified it to become his home studio. The walls were covered in drawings and diagrams, displaying suits and other outfits. Along with these sketches were several samples of cloth. Kazen happened to be studying one particular drawing. It showed a black costume with a sweeping cape and the letters DM displayed in white on his chest. it came with similar white gloves and boots.
This costume was in reality hidden in a cardboard box under his bed.
Suddenly Kazen heard a noise coming from the kitchen.
"Who's there?" he shouted cautiously as he rose from his chair. He silently opened the door and looked at the interior of his apartment. He approached the kitchen and came face to face with the source of the commotion.
Himself.
"Oh god! What have I told you about going out when I'm not here?"
The double shrugged nonchalantly and took off his heavy winter jacket. "I came in through the window and I stuck to the back alleys. I needed to take care of some business."
"Fine. But try to tell me before you do this again?"
The double turned away. "And if I dont...?"

"Well, this will do." said the man behind the counter. "Welcome to Empire City. Good luck and god bless."
"Yes, Thank you for I shall be the one to put this city right. I alone am the INFILTRATOR and I shall save them all!!"
He strikes his pose and actually seems to rise for a moment before hearing someone mutter something in disgust.
He floats back down and then hears a voice. "Welcome then. Come here I have something to show you."
He looked over to see a man wearing a black and white costume that bekons toward an alley. He shows him a box. "Here, open it. Its yours to help you with on your quest mr. Infiltrator."
"Why thank you fellow compatriot." he grabs the box but as he looks back up the person is gone, having climbed up a wall just then.
"Well, that was generous. ANd I never even got his name." He opens the box just as it explodes sending the remains of his costume all over the buildings causing damage to them as well.
<occ> yes DM yes, as for the rest of you a rather large bomb went off causing destruction and chaos. Your citizens need you

The Brawler
Main st. West - Empire City
Bombs?!
Finding criminals was hard for The Brawler, he had to survey from the sidewalk just like the citizens he protected and when he was starting had some misunderstandings with police officers due to his costume. He thought about trying the normal hero shtick where one stays perched on a rooftop observing, silently, waiting for danger to strike. But damn it all those buildings were tall and he might fall and break something. Looking up at the roof-tops The Brawler sighed slightly and spoke out loud.
"The only way I'm baggin' a Criminal today is if they send off a flare or sumthin'!"
As he finished talking he stopped and looked around, almost expecting fate to mock him, but alas irony was on break and he laughed.
"Here I was thinkin' that would be a good set up for a gag or sumthin', like tha-" His words wer cut off by a large explosion and what looked like flaming clothes went soaring through the skies, straight up and falling straight back down.
"... damn you irony..." So he went to work.
