It isn't possible to change the computer to not hack at all, unless you hack into some of the more hardcoded stuff.

Okey everyone, settle down. -_-

Whilst it'd be better if the computers had to scout before they knew where you were, I don't think it's really that big a problem. What annoys me with computers is when they 12 Zeal/Ling rush.

yeah that sucks because if you are terran it is almost impossibble to fight of a 12 zealot rush with out losing half your defence and the finally when you do kill all the zealots, the next rush comes from another computer and this is when I ussually die.

I'm finding that with many strategy games is the AI doesn't really scout at all, they know were each mineral pile and opponent stays. Some computers I have played against have tech'd before, but that has been very very rare in my game experiences.

The computer doesn't hack. The AI doesn't understand the concept of scouting or flexability, so it needs to know where all of the resource nodes and player bases are.

The AI is very predictable and is not as challenging as a human player. Brood War Terran AI almost always constructs 2 Rax, 1 Acad, 1 Fac and pumps out 17 units. 10 Marines, 4 Firebats and 3 Medics. Before they leave their base, they construct one Bunker and load four Marines into it. Then they wait for the final units to be trained, unload the Bunker and then attack.

That is exactly why whenever I play computers I use StarCraft and not Brood War. The Terran AI is slowed down by Medics. It sees them as a necesity and therefore gets and Academy and Vespene gas to buy Medics before attacking. In original they simply rush you. Oh, and for whatever reason, Protoss likes rushing with three Zealots in original and I've yet to ever see that done by a computer on Brood War. I haven't noticed any different with Zerg.

Whats really odd is when you get Toss computers rushing to DTs faster then is almost humanly possible... heh.

The thing about computers is that they can control every single unit and building at once, as well as issuing commands (such as training units) right when it is possible (i.e. when enough resources are gathered). This means that, obviously, if a computer and a human both teched to the same level using the exact same build order and under the exact same conditions, the computer will always win.

The computor AI was cranked down alot during the expansion, (maybe to make newbies feel better)

The zerg rushes with Hydralisks in Original but never 6 pools. After the main 3 comp attack the zerg either turtles, mutalisk rushes, or mutalisk/hydralisk attacks. They when the have 2-3 expos they go mad taking the middle and mass hydralisks. They drop zerglings on your 3rd expo and either tech to defilers/ultras to support mass hydras for the giant last attack. Or masses guardians/mutalisks. Sometimes combining both.

The protoss attacks with 3 zealots, but 1/5 on 3cv1p they wait and tech to goons. They turtle after the main teir II attack. And solo making 2-4 reavers and striking at the same time as the terran with zealots/goons/reavers and expo at the same time as the 2nd attack. They then make 2-6 carriers (something the comp never does in Broodwar). And 2 arbitors. They strike at the final strike with the terran and use carriers and templar supporting the zealots and dragoons.

The terran expand madly at the begining. After the main attack they try again with seige tanks and marines to beat you down. They expand while attacking and give up on expansions after losing them too much. They mass ghosts and rines near end (sometimes attacking with only ghosts) They train wraiths alot and harass your mineral lines, near the end of its AI script it attacks with a hoard of marines and ghosts backed by 6-10 tanks, 6-12 wraiths and 2/5 1 battlecruisers at the sametime of the zerg and protoss mass attacks. They are the first to hunt your expo and like to place 1 marine at each spare expo along with the burrowed zergling the zerg place.

wow, that sounds really "cranked down."
