As stated in the title, My CD-drive overheats rather rapidly when I play Starcraft. This causes starcraft to commit acess violations and crash (sometime the whole comp crashes).
I would like to know if there's a no-cd patch so that I can play SC without it crashing. I have googled it and found some sites that claim to have them, but I've never heard of those sites before and don't want to risk my SC data.
Yes I have the Official SC and BW cd's.
Also if you know of some way to stop the overheating that will do also. I've got all the front slots on my comp open, and a fan near the CD-drive. I don't know why it's overheating.
Thanks for any help you can give.

Your really in the wrong section buddy.
But anyway, I use Clone CD, it has a CDROM emulator, so I just copy the image the hard drive then put the image in the virtual CDROM, it's quite easy.
There are quite a few types of this sort of software.

Sorry about the section thing.
Can you give me a url for Clone CD please? When I googled it there did not seem to be anything like what you described.

Try bit torrent or some other P2P program.

Does the company that made it have a site? I'd rather not install a P2P program just to get the one file.

Google, Daemon Tools.
You'll be glad you did.

Ditto (http://www.daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/download.php). And that's what I currently use. ;)
Welcome to the crew, btw, Vector. :)

oh uh creepcolony has one
Zerg_Eater, do you even read? It has been stated timeless time over that asking and supplying for no-cd cheats cracks is against the rules (http://www.warboards.org/faq.php?faq=faq_rules#faq_faq_rules_badtopics) and we gave him a legal solution anyway. :P
Provided he's a newcomer (and that most likely hadn't read'em), he's got 'some kind of an excuse'. I just can say the same for ya, since you've been around for quite some time now.

Vector, another option, if you don't want to have a 650+ MB cd iso sitting on your harddrive is to use the BWLauncher. It's used by both pgt and wgt (both respected starcraft gaming organizations) and allows you to play without the cd.
Link to the BW Launcher site can be found here. (http://www.bwprogrammers.com/)

Use clone cd, alcohol 120%, daemon tools, bw launcher, etc.

the WGTour launcher has a no CD..
but anyhow yea... back in the day before BW and when CD-Rom drives were kinda crappy, I got one of the new-fangled (at the time) 40x CDroms.. after several days of continuous play my starcraft CD eventually exploded in the CD Rom drive lol... they wouldn't take it under warrenty either.. I had to buy a new starcraft and a new drive lol.
