Operation Silent Blade
A Warhammer 40,000 Role Playing Game
The room was suprisingly empty, given the fact the men were pulled right out of their afternoon manuvers and told to report immediately to Briefing Room 3. Standing at the front of the room was something most Guardsmen would never talk one on one with in their entire service carrer. A Lord of the Imperial Inquisition. He seemed impatient, but as soon as all of the men sat down he launched immediately into a flurry of words.
"Before I really start, this is mission is going to be highly dangerous and highly secretive. Step out now if you are not interested. This will be your only chance."
Not a single man stood and left.
"Good. I am Lord Gerdian of the Ordo Malleus, in charge of observing and combating the forces of Chaos on this planet. As you all know, the fighting between the Imperial Guard the armies of Chaos still rage not one hundred kilometers from where we are sitting now. Why you were sidelined, I really do not care. What I care about is stopping Chaos. Intelligence reports indicate the presence of a high ranking enemy officer in a city past the front line. His rank is equivalent to our Colonels. Reports also indicate he is the ranking officer for the Lost and the Damned army on this continent.
The city of Housen is one of the largest on the planet, and home to several very important key points in the Chaos army. There is an ammunition depot, a barracks facility, and a vehicle park. These are secondary objectives. The first and formost is the killing of this officer. He is quartered some where in the center of the city. Where exactly, we do not know. You have all been selected because of your personal talent. Be it demolitions, stealth, impersonation, or another, they are all important to the mission.
Your standard weaponry and equipment will be confiscated upon the completion of this briefing. Your standard issue side arm will be replaced by a sound-supressed autopistol. Your long arm will be your choice, however I highly recommend not taking a Lasweapon. Stealth is absolutely essential. If your unit is located, you'll have five thousand Traitor troopers breathing down your neck faster than you can curse Horus' name. Black carapace armor modified for quiet movement will also be issued.
Insertion behind enemy lines will be out of a Lander at high altitude via grav-chute. You are being dropped approximately three kilometers outside the city to the east, any closer and we risk anti-aircraft fire. Three regiments are advancing on their extreme western flank to draw troops in that direction and give you a little bit of a break. Move into the city, locate and terminate the target, and rendevous with a Lander for extraction. If you are not at the extraction zone, you will be presumed dead and we will not send another. So if your still in the ciy, find a hole and hide cause we are preparing for a massive push straight for Housen.
Gentlemen, that is all. I do not need to remind you of the ramifications of being captured. Betrayal is something we can ill afford, and you are each going to all be issued a suicide packet in case the worst should happen. Report to the armoury to pick up your equipment, and then meet the insertion Lander on pad twelve. Good luck men, I pray to the Emperor that you are successful."
With that, Lord Gerdian exited the briefing room leaving the selected men to their thoughts.
