Friday Night

Friday Night my computer was blown out. Ya-huh. Went in looking for a spy program called dpusys.exe or something or other and found a backdoor. Dozens of spyware programs and a couple viruses trying to send their data back out through the firewall, but unable too.

Long story short...
I had to restart the computer. Not good with the jargon here, but I had to clear everything and start from scratch. The damage from taking all the spyware off was so great, and confuzzled the computer so much to the point that whenever it couldn't find that shit it was so used to finding, it'd freeze like an 8 year old boy in Michael Jackson's headlights and sooooo... yeah. I'm missing a lot of stuff. Thankfully, I burned a CD Friday before all this with all the songs not on my backup I made last Saturday... so, at least those aren't totally lost. However, aside from the music, I lost every picture, word document, video, winamp file, etc. Couldn't even make it to the MyPictures folder before it froze up.

Okay. That wasn't short. O_o

Yeah. Computer's finally back to functionality and that's why I'm back, though I doubt 2 days absence is enough to be missed. ^^;

Why didin't you back up everything before you wiped out your HD?

Also, you probably just could have gotten a program, taken them out manually, or just always go ctrl, alt, delete and end them.

Well if he backed up his entire harddrive, wouldn't that contain the virus too?When you back up things, you do not back up EVERYTHING. That would be stupid to do with CDs, and since you are trying to get rid of things, that is also stupid, even if you can transfer it between computers.

Basically, you backup all of the things you cannot get again, like JAD. Therefore, you will not be backing up the virus.

I wonder if you couldn't connect your HDD as a Slave on another system ..have it scanned and then copy the major data onto the Master

I guess this is why people always say to back up your shit. Strange though, nomatter how often I hear stories like this I never do anything. It's been about 1 year since I last backed anything up (even that was a fluke). The day that my hard drive chucks a spazz....

Just finished downloading my Yahoo Briefcase. :D 28.2 MB of pure crap.

Works in Progress, Signatures, JAD (still lost like last 3 most recent ;_; ), Avatars, and even some old Trigun buddy icons. W00t!

Hold F8 when you boot. Its quite useful.

Yes, but then you have to go through the pain of restarting if you want to download something. Also, some games don't work with it on.
