View Full Version : Cain finally stops being a selfish dick
So I was doing the rescue Cain quest last night and after I freed him and he opened his portal, it didn't close, even after he went in. I was actually able to use it myself to return to town. Glitch? Did Blizzard do some mod-fu on the servers? Did Cain just stop being a selfish wrinkley dick? You decide!
Actually, I'll be playing again today and I'll check with my barb.

Heh, it's generally referred to as "Catching a ride with Cain", and is considered a glitch.

Yeah, that happened to me the other day as well. I was mildly confused. The portal appeared to remain permanently open.
I also recently came across an 'infinite keys' glitch with my assassin - I've checked after opening each locked chest and there's no diminishing my pile of keys. Awesome.

Uh, assassins don't need keys to open locked chests. :P

Sorry to burst your bubble, Mr. Crazy Tom, but your self-proclaimed infinate keys 'glitch' is in fact a (somewhat overlooked) feature. To quote the manual:
Even the most novice of Assassins is a past master of infiltration, and no lock has been made that they cannot circumvent. Hence, an Assassin needs no key to open locked chests.
And there you have it.

Does this glitch also apply to other quests that have npc-opened portals? I hate running out of townportals and having to hunt for the nearest waypoint.

Yeah, I've gotten Cain to keep his portal opened sometimes. It can be pretty handy I guess.

Er... just keep a Tome of Town Portal in your inventory... it's cheap and easy to maintain...

What I meant was that I always forget to refill my tome...
I suppose I'll just have to make it a habit to fill up my book everytime I'm in town...

I don't own the manual, a guy who no longer plays D2 gave me his copy so I'm not too surprised I didn't know that. Still.... makes me sad.

It's not in the manual. It's in the booklet that comes with the expansion pack.
