This is one of the coolest pieces of war making technology I have ever seen. Cornershot was featured prominently in an episode of Future Weapons, which is where I first saw this weapon. Desgined by former Israeli Defense Force personnel, it is intended for close quarters, room to room urban fighting. It utilizes a flexible frame, which mounts a a digital camera lense underneath the weapon to provide the user with a view of what is around the corner without exposing themselves. To help you get a better picture, look to this animation.

It can mount a vast arsenal of pistols, from .22 caliber all the way to .44 Magnum rounds, as well as a variety of 5.56mm and 7.62mm carbines and rifles as well as an awsome 40mm grenade launcher. Truly a revolutionary weapon. Tell me what you think of this unique firearm.

I already saw it on the show future weapons...

And I pissed in my pants. Seriosly, I play Socom 3 online, and I would do anything to get a gun like that. I mean, I could sit on my ass behind a wall and show the godamn pigheads a peice of my mind without moving.

Awesome peice of weaponry.

Yea that is pretty sweet. Just being able to see what's going on around the corner before actually being there would be really nice.

Lol, just imagine if you pointed yours around the corner and saw another one of them! :o

Hehe, it's a step towards a world in which no one dies in wars because we have robots to do all our fighting.

Uh, my inner physicist wonders what happens with the recoil in such a weapon. Firing straight ahead is reasonable because your body will absorb the recoil, and the weapon will still aim at the same spot after firing (if you do it right). How do you do it with this thing? If I point that around a corner and fire a single shot the aim will be all over the place!

I know what you mean, and I was wondering about it too. However, the most widespread versions accomodate 9mm pistols. I dont know about you, but to me a 9mm has almost no recoil. Plus, it has a stock to rest against your shoulder. Either way, it has proven to be fairly accurate in most situations.

Yep I've seen it before. They told us (Marines) that it would be in use "soon" well that was in 99 or 2000. Guess they either got some bug issues to work out or $.

Pistols--see "no recoil to speak of". Besides, since it's shoulder-mounted, there's pretty much no issues to be had. The worst pistol is nowhere near a shotgun, and a shotgun can be fired from the shoulder without much problem (unless you're a noob).

Wasn't the U.S. trying to stick guns on bomb squad robots? Oh well, shooting around corners will have to do until combat robots are perfected.

Muahaha, you can blame schwitzer for coming up with this evil scheme

But in any case....

Yes, hence me saying

Hehe, it's a step towards a world in which no one dies in wars because we have robots to do all our fighting.

In my above quoted post I was merely suggesting that one day we may have robots to do all our fighting for us. This new cornershot thing is just a very tiny step towards that futuristic utopia of exploding metal cans of death.

I think this is very cool. Have they made any prototypes of it yet? I'd like to see it in action.

They started out just with guns on bomb squad robots and here's what they got

From what I've seen of it though, it has some major drawbacks. The most being that the gun is all but fixed to the robot itself, so that fine aiming and quick target shifting is all but impossible.

Oh yes, they have made prototypes. It is already in full production, and Israel (Last I knew) was working out the kinks are getting ready to just start selling to anyone who will buy. Its already in service with 14 countries I believe.
