Ok, we where having a discussion in the zelda screenshots thread (started by me :)) about what the best zelda game ever is, so I decided to make a poll of it.
Please vote, and state why you voted why you did.

Adventure of Link for me. It might be because it was more like a Role Playing Game than it was an Action Game. Not to mention that it was the first Zelda game to introduce spells and techniques to which Link can learn. It was also hard as hell when I first played it back in November of 1988. It took me a lot of months to figure out where the hidden town of Kasuto and the 6th palace at the three-eyed rock were.

OOT because its so well made, and accessible, and its HARD as HELL but its the funnest (is that a word?:shiftyl: ) game I have ever played. It has a brilliant story too. ALTTP came close, because of the Dark World music. :P.

A Link to the Past, Bitch!
But my vote counted for Original for some reason.
Orginal is great too! All you younguns need to go find an NES and play some good shit, none of this Ocarina of Time stuff.

It is so hard for me to choose. I have played OoT, WW, MM, and ALTTP and all were great. I chose OoT because it was the first one I played and was so fun.

my fav is OoT, but Hard as hell?! Its easy, but then again, that might just be cuz I've beaten it more then 10 times...

Well, OoT, WW, and MM have all been good for me. Very good games. OoT is pretty much what set the bar, and it set it high. Wow, if you think about it, going from SNES 2d to N64 3d... well, that's quite a feat and to create such a good game in the process. I have to applaud them for that, so for it's dynamic storyline, great gamplay and replayability, and the fact that it was their first 3d zelda game, I'm going to vote for OoT.
BTW, I desperately want to get Zelda for my NES. I wonder where I can get it...

Anywhere on the net that sells stuff. Like eBay or Amazon. Or else get Mario Kart:Double Dash bundle and you get LOZ, LA, OOT and MM.

Definetly eBay,m you can find practicly anythin there.

Red sox season tickets are just about the only thing i cant seem to find on ebay...
Ocarina of time for me. It was the first video game i owned, and it is still my favorite. It was and is the greatest, and i have played and beaten it so many times now i could probalby set some speed record...lol
I played some of the Majora's Mask one, but i really didn't like the time setup and stopped doing the main quest, but still a pretty good game, but it could have been a lot better.

BTW, I desperately want to get Zelda for my NES. I wonder where I can get it...Get an emulator. I would give you the ROM but I don't have it. It's really hard to find good sites that have ROMS
Edit: someone already said this
Well if you find it give it to me too! :)

Well, I do know where to get the rom, I have a few sites bookmarked. Still, ROMs don't compare to playing the game on the NES, nothing compares to playing a game on the original.

I bought a controller, it's just like a playstation controller, I use it to play Madden 04 on my computer. But I also use it to play emulators. It's totally awesome and worth it!

Link to the Past and don't even argue with me on this. You won't win and will suffer cerebral hemorrhaging afterwards.

personally i love most if not all of the zelda games
but for the more recent consoles:
OoT(N64)- great story
MM(N64)- challenging, gotta get them all!
WW(GCN)- easier, but it was a great continuation
but lets look to the new GCN zelda for great hope!
Ocarina of Time was the shit. Crazy fun, and lots of replay value too.

That's because your so used to the tried and true formula of linear advancement. In Majora's Mask too there is linear development, but it is more challenging to keep things in line. I thought it was a very creative game in the way it was made.
All of what I said however, is nothing when compared to Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Entering the Kokiri Forest Spirit/Tree/Dungeon thing for the first time was the awesomest ever.

More amazed at the use of the word awesomest or at the fact you didn't even mention LttP, I cannot decide.
The best moment ever was when Link whupped that fire turtles ass in dreamworld on LttP. So great ^^
I also am a fan of the first GB game, though odd as it is.

Yeah I was just about to say, you forgot to list the Gameboy games.

Hell, that kokiri forest was the time i learned to use a n64 controller. Can't beat that...Maj.'s mask was creative, but i just didn't like the whole thing. I spent a lot of my time hunting with the bow trying to amass huge sums of rupees in the bank...can't compare to Oot, maybe the new one will do it.

Sure, it was difficult...for all my friends when we were in fifth grade. I got the Master Quest re-release for Gamecube. I beat the original OoT (not having every played it before) in about 3 days. The OoT MasterQuest, however, is quite tricky. The puzzles are insanely difficult, but the number of enemies is lowered substantually, thus cancelling out the difficulty in my opinion.
I hold that A Link to the Past was the most fun. The Legend of Zelda (NES) holds a close second. And you don't have to own an NES to play it (although I do have an NES), or break the law. You could be like me and get the Zelda Collectors Edition...Zelda...Link's Adventure...OoT....and Majora's Mask...all on one disk...
Yes, I have three friggin copies of OoT...

I voted "A Link to the Past".
Mostly because it was the best. Heh. Umm, i loved ooT but i though it was pretty much a copy of ALttP with all the stuff and the story progression and whatnot. Anyway, i voted it because after playing it i saw ooT as a bit of a beefed up conversion, and im a fan of originality. ooT probably has more things to do, and is more playable. Damn this was a hard vote.

Well I have two.
For the gameplay: ALttP! It was quite challenging and fun to play, a true classic.
For the story: OoT! Omfg, that story is so great. I play it constantly and I just love the epic storyline, and all the characters are great too.
I like stories more, so I voted OoT ^_^

Lol they still sell it here...no one bothers to send the new games to Maine...
you can probably buy it used at an EB/Gamestop, or eBay if you dont mind waiting two weeks...

I need to buy Oot, but I can't find it.
I dunno if they have these things in Canada, but there are flea markets/Swap Meets where you can buy like N64 games for around 15 bucks.
I like those, they even have SNES games for very cheap prices ^_^ Too bad I no longer have the SNES, my very stupid mom gave it away >.<
The only downside is that they might not have instruction booklets.
You can also do what maeg said, buy it used online.

I love the Oracle of Seasons and Ages games. :)
I recall there was also another Oracle too, she was in those two games I believe. :)
Forget what she's the Oracle of though. :(
And I know she's in OoA, not sure if she's in OoS. :tu:
But I suck at OoT and WW for NGB though. The part where you go inside the tree was awsome though. =P

I don't support console game emulation, but it is probably the fastest and easiest way for you to find and play games from back during the SNES era and sooner. There are a list of sites that have video game roms and emulators to which you can download for free, but you will be downloading them at your own risk.
Maegtelluma

I tried to get some n64 emulators going, but they were far too confusing for me, i had no idea where to get games...ugh...its not worth your effort unless you really know what you're doing.

Seriously, we should all post links of cool places. (Or PM or something, you paranoid bastards)

I think I liked Windwaker most, though it's just barely ahead of a Link to the Past and the Ocarina of Time. Just barely. The only game I actually didn't like was Majora's mask. It just wasn't my thing.

the stupid internet just deleted my lenghty synopsis on why I heart the Legend of Zelda. So, to put it short and simple, I love Link to the Past. It was the first game I ever owned and it sparked my continual obsession with the blonde elf boy... er... What I mean to say is, LTTP singlehandedly changed the course of video games with it's sharp graphics and fantastically addictive story. Even by today's standards, the game is a masterpiece. Of course, the second choice would have been Ocarina of Time, but you can't beat the best, even though they are both up there. Anyway, best game ever is Link to the Past - No questions asked.

I picked OoT, because i liked it the best of the ones that i have played.
As a side note, there is yet another zelda game coming out. Go to nintendo.com to find out more about, though about all they have on it is a movie. It looks really cool and uses the 3D animation like in OoT as apposed to the cell shading of Wind Waker.

yeah, i started a thread about it a while ago.
I think its safe to say now that OoT won.
