Well in starcraft 2 there are some things that I would not want to see. I woul d be happy with 3d but I would hope to see the still 200/200 max instead of 90/90. I also hope that they keep the same minerals.

I am about half and half on the hero and item usage. IE starcraft heros and items that you can buy in shops like warcraft 3. Basicly I hope that they don't make starcraft 2 exactly like warcraft 3 because if they do I am going to continue to play regular SC and broodwars.

I want to mainly keep the hell away from the gameplay most of the time. Just add some new units and terrain effects with hills and stuff. No stances, levels, experience or any of that crap. Simplicity is the key.

I agree with NastyApe. StarCraft II better not be like WARCRAFT\WARCRAP. Everyone is already sick of seeing WarCraft everywhere.

I would hate to see it still in 2-D. :\

Personally I would like to keep it in 2-D becase on most computers it would run better.
Also i would like to see that blizzard actually have 'deep' story line in starcraft 2 like the original starcraft and Brood wars do. As for adding new units well the could but that might not make it better as far i can tell.
On top of that I would like them to keep the control interface the same and not change or complicate it any more then necissary.

You sir, are a gawd. Making a bunch of drastic changes will take starcraft away from its humble roots.
People keep suggesting a new race, but that would offset the balance and complexity of each existing race.
As for hybrids or Zel-Naga, I think "creeps", basically critters that attack, would fill that role nicely. And maybe even a few creep buildings, but no new race.
As for experience & level growth, we know that units receive cover from high ground and tree doodads right? Well maybe depending on kills and supply, a unit would receive a permanent cover bonus for each number of kills.
Supply comes into to account to balance things out, say it only takes 1 kill to give a zergling a 1% cover boost, where as a Battle Cruiser would have to accumulate 4 kills to receive a 1% cover boost. However no unit can exceed a 50 percent cover balance.

I want to see the same gameplay with a few new units and 3d graphics.

I personally don't care about 3d graphics, if they do it that's fine but 2d is still fine with me :)

I hope the gameplay doesn't change, period.

The other thing that I think is essential starcraft is the feel. It's dark, brooding and just damn cool. That's something that CANNOT change if it's going to stay as successful as it is now.

Keeping the 200/200 unit limit keeps the rush-happy tactics, which also keeps me happy

I have often thought I would like to see nothing change at all. You can't improve on chess and I think Starcraft is as a perfect an RTS as chess is a board game. Though after a few hundred games of chess it's natural to want a nice shiny new board.
I would like to see just a mass enhancement of graphics and sound and nothing else, I would like to see all unit attack abilities, defensive abilities and movement speeds preserved, just everything a lot clearer, every fight with much more detail and I would be happy.

more units, better editor, more tilesets, more lenient tilesets...

what about slightly different unit appearances for each tileset?

I want new races, units and abilities.

Graphics aren't all that important, SC is good without top-notch graphics. So why not add new content? It wouldn't make sense not to.

In 1998 the graphics where top notch.

Having units actually talk and relay information to you would be helpful. I know that's what the advisors are meant for, but I tend to be a little bit more urgent when my marines are screaming through their microphones for the sweet carress of death or a medic, or having a sudden panic attack when confronted with a task they know is impossible. I know I would lose it if a zergling were trying to rip me apart to feast on my kidneys. I need to be able to sympathise with my men so that I can be a more effective commander. Marines don't just simply walk into a base, start shooting stuff, and die with the thought that the next squad will have better luck. A marine in that kind of situation would be as nervous as a cornered mouse, trying to find a way to escape the monstrosities of flesh ripping them apart, screaming bloody murder until a tentacle or claw or other means of mutilation finally give them a death that no being, no matter how cruel, should ever have to suffer.

I like the sound idea. Though they probably shouldn't make any of the sounds too gruesom...they should keep it with the T rating.

DBCooper:

Hmm...

I like that idea a great deal, it'd be awesome to have some of your units periodically chime in depending upon the situation they are in. Suddenly one of your Marines comes onto the advisory screen and crack a joke to his fellow comrades to lighten the mood while they await orders. Out of nowhere a Firebat screams profanity at a zergling as he roasts it's carapace. A marine screaming out in pain due to being low on health asking for that sweet nurse with the tight ass...

Well, heh it would require a good bit of programming depending upon how complicated this system would be...but I do think it would add quite a bit to the game play.

Moving on...

I'd like to see the following myself:
-Water Units (To obtain and defend submerged minerals and gas)
-Even bigger maps for more wide scale battles...
-Weapons of Mass Destruction that actually do mass destruction...
-Interactive Terran (Swamps that slow you down and your men actually have to weight through, weather, high grass that actually goes up to your troops knees, ect...)
-3D graphics that are not as Cartoonish as Warcraft but instead stay true to the dark nature of Starcraft...
-Animals that actually fight back or run/hide depending upon species
-Smarter AI that learns from your tactics. Be interesting to tie in DBCooper's idea with this and have your PC enemies taunt you during battle or what not from time to time.
-Ability to transport Minerals and Gas to other players via special transport units that can be destroyed. (thus loss of the carried minerals and gas)

Meh...there's prolly more but the think meat aint working very well at the momment.

What the hell... why the hell didn't anyone else think of submerged minerals and gas?!
That's brilliant!
Originally I was considering hybrid units... vehicles that can walk on land and skim across the surface of the water. However, now that I think about it, I'll add to that. These hybrid units shouldn't be able to submerge. The submerged units would be constructed on the water surface by SUV's (the ability to support themselves over water; cheap upgrade) then sent in to submerge. I also like the idea of the terrain slowing down the unit movement.

Finally, I'm thinking the whole bigger ships idea could lead to ships greater then battlecruisers. They'd probably simply be called Battleships, considering battlecruisers in real life were actually lighter versions of the battleships made to move faster (though they failed but that's beside the point lolol). The manual said the warfare between the terrans used to be an arms race, though they moved on to smaller ships that were harder to track because they were faster. The top models eventually acquired cloaking to make it EVEN harder to track these menaces (an idea that stuck with the wraiths).
Due to this, the largest ships became inefficient and had to be removed for financial reasons (a decision made by the confederacy). Eventually the largest ship remaining was the battlecruiser. It's yamato gun and laser batteries as well as sufficient armor made it a powerful artillery tool in both space and atmosphere.

The battleships would then be brought back by Mengsk's dominion in StarCraft 2. Heavier, and larger then the battlecruiser, but reoutfitted to meet standards. In addition, it's also more expensive and rather slow but proves highly capable of holding it's own, or providing a longer lasting, mightier distraction. =P

It'd also feature plasma technology, something rather new to the terran's in the way of air artillery and significantly more primitive in nature then protoss advancements, however proving to be immensily powerful. The eager, tech enthusiast may even research as far as nuke silo housings for battleships. Battlecruisers, would also recieve an increase in laser firing rate, and cruising speed from the battleship's support electronics. A sentinel (those non-physical psychic ghost guys) might even provide the battleship with necessary energy to perform various tasks. =P

Freighters (also terran) could be used for the gas and mineral transportation. There should be an advantage to all that though, considering it might not be the worth the risk for the enemy to know to target your freighters. Maybe having one of the players upgrade their financial and munny abilities, would somehow allow for a transfer to increase mineral and gas value (thus increasing the amount of minerals and gas you recieve from that player or actually lower unit cost temporarily when the next transfer arrives; unit cost would rise back to normal if you lose all your freighters, or suffer a certain number of unit or building losses). Reminds me of AOE2. XP
