This idea just struck me. Yup, you're correct: I'm making a RP. This is my first shot ever. I don't expect anyone to say it is good, because I only expect this RP to die out before even anyone cares. Well wake up people! I'm trying to make a RP-Living! Or maybe not. But anyways: Here's the deal.

Introduction

Welcome to the "Damn Artists" RPG. You maybe think it's a strange name, but it's a concept thing. This RPG isn't about being an adventurer in a fantasty-set adventure, or sci-fi land of rebels and state. No, my friend, it's something far different.

Yup, you figured it out right.
You're assuming the role of an artist. You ever wanted to be one, whouldn't you? I betcha did. Atleast I do - Heck, I even am one, just still underground. But enough crap, let's get on with the CLASSES you can be? Everything in this RPG is purely spontanious. There is no rules to what you can do, only thing is that you start in the city of "Dethroth." You can cooperate, make a band with other roleplayers, or make it big mainstream or be a lone underdog fighting with the music in the back. Here's the classes:

Rock Star
Description: You ever wanted to be one, whouldn't you? You get to smash guitars, and spend all the surplus money on wimen/men and booze. You naughty rocker! Rock on.
Pro's: Will always attract rebellious, rootless teens looking for carefree music.
Con's: The hotel & concert bill. And stage dives can be a bit hazardious.

Rapper
Description: Yo, homie, what's up? Rapping aren't just all about laying down the rhymes, but making it flow too. It ain't all about money and girls, some people are fuckin' geniuses with a mic, lyric, and studio. You studio gangster! Rap on.
Pro's: With a phat beat, and a killer lyric, rapping is easy and are quick cash.
Con's: People think you are a cheap sellout very easily, as rap is commercialized heavily. And there's alot hate in "the game."

Synthesizer DJ
Description: The electronic party nerd - or so it's told. Slick haired, componizing, melodical, trance-cranking tune-maker. Some make hard-house repetive music, others make masterworks with samplings, sounds and subtleness. They are a talented bunch of producers, those clever motherfuckers. Yet some are...not. Ripping of each other happen often, too.
Pro's: You get access to alot of smart equipment and instruments. The job pays well, DJ'ing at Clubs, as a side work. Might get rich on selling beats to rappers, and has alot of technical knowledge. As for music-making itself, they have most coverage on the melodical fields, perhaps feated by some pop stars/rappers/rockers.
Con's: You often find yourself as being "The other guy" in a band, on stage, or at a club, or even in producing/feating an album. You get in the background, while vocalists and front figures take up the fame, no matter how many shouts you get. You can of course be famous too, but it's harder for someone who can't really be physically heard..and there are skeptics against "modern" music suchs as this one, calling it slut music, etc..etc..

Pop Star
Description: There's no way around it..the Scourge of Pop. But pop doesn't completely suck: Except of that R&B trash, few other genres have reached this level of celebrity. For who doesn't want to be mr. or mrs. Singer-on-the-stage? Either you're for mellow, thoughtful pop songs with piano accompied, or party-party rough-pop-locks, or maybe even J-POP!? It's up to you.
Pro's: A very "succsessfull"-genre as it is, it's hard to really lose in pop, someway, even if you sucked you're probably being lucky and you're style ripped off and brought further down the musical evolution, immortalizing you yet no-one renembers you, but those who cramped your style, of course. There's always some name to take, in being a Pop Star. Some says it's the opposite of a Rock Star.
Con's: Some people HATE Pop with a passion. It's a gullible celebrity trap with mushy tons of romantic music and "sexy" pop music with makes people PUKE! Expect to have some enemies who will diss you on the internet. HORRIBLE! And bomb threaths, assasin attempts, anthrax letters: Make sure to have lifeguards..

I've decided to leave the game open, so you can do whatever you want and crawl in the music world and evolve in style along the way, taking sub-classes. My job, is just to decide what happens next? Enjoy. This is just a scratch idea. It needst not be taken seriously as something grand, just something simple and happy :)

Rocker: Black Metal (Is a Sub-Class)
As you choose a class, you get attributes of it. You do not need to describe these.

However, you can choose traits to swing the attributes to your favor.
The strongest attribute of a Rocker is Power.
The weakest attribute is Intelligence (Don't get offended here?)

A Black Metal Singer's trait is "Charmful Presence" which increases charm but also increases chanche of seen as Sellout (bad)

Basic attributes:
Charm (Helps on stage, getting groupies etc. but can backfire when the press realizes you're a cheap charmer. It's the primary attribute for Pop Stars, and the media just loves a good charm, don't they?)
Power (The real market power, will to stay in the market and being harsh and strong to the critics. You'll need this to stay alive in a hectic music market and FUCK the haters! The more power, the more endurance on stage to keep on, and energies to spend on making music. This is primary attribute for Rock Stars & Rappers)
Intelligence (The lyrical creativity, and the melodical creativity, and such. The real skill of making music, to know the branch. The more intelligence, the more "smart" music. This is primary attribute for Synthesizer DJ's, who need it when improvising on stage and the success of your audio products, it helps in leading a band too.)

Okay then. Thanks for the advice! Here it is:

New attribute:
Dexterity

Primary Attribute for Rappers. This attribute is needed mainly to perform lyrics, freestyle, but also making your songs 'flow'. For any of the classes, you need Dexterity to balance it up, being agile and stuff, this helps on live stage and any extra perfomances. The more dexterity, the longer an artist (rapper) can stay "in the game", and improvising needs also a tad bit dexterity. The backside is that you get less power, but what you loose in the hardcore you gain in vocal skills, speed, lyrics, and making tuneful 'beats'. Being flexible with the tecnical skills too, and variety - Musical dexterity serves alot of roles.

And 2 dice for your strong trait, or something...The attribute stats are mostly like attributes in WarCraft (Strength, Intelligence, Agility). No dices: You just choose your traits...RP Noob :) Anyhow, it's like in Fallout: A trait have a good side and bad side, and you can have two traits. The attributes come from which class you choose and traits - F.eg as pop star you whould get more charm..but less power... You start with 15 on all attributes, and then they are altered by which class you choose, and trait. For example:

Starting Attributes: 15 Intelligence, 15 Dexterity, 15 Power, 15 Charm.
I choose "Synthesizer DJ" as class.

Then I get +2 power, +2 charm, +4 Intelligence, +3 Dexterity
Current Attributes: 19 Intelligence, 18 Dexterity, 17 Power, 17 Charm.
Then I choose trait. Use your imagination here, but it has to have a good side and a bad side. The traits affect the attributes aswell.

Trait: Melodical Sense (My character has a great sense for the tunes of music, but lack in the more practical side of music. +2 Dexterity, +2 Intelligence, -2 Charm, -2 Power)
Management Skills (You have the blood of a producer in your veins, and are used to manage the music and the record label of a band. A useful skill, indeed, but some backdraws on the artist-side. +1 Charm, +1 Intelligence, -1 Dexterity, -1 Power)

Resulting Attributes: 22 Intelligence, 19 Dexterity, 14 Power, 16 Charm.
Synthesizers score more at theoretical skills than practical ones, as you can see. (And no, you don't write all this, you just write your traits and find out your resulting attributes) - This was just an example, this is not my character, my character is OleMurdoc the Horrorcore Rapper which is in band with Frattimonde the Nightstalker, the Black Metal Rocker. Thank you for your attention.....and people say I have not RP Knowledge? BAH! Hahahah...

To what I suggested, Fratt.
It isn't acceptable to make a band with members who aren't in the RPG, Protoss Chick. You're just one person, so it counts as if you are a christian artist.
And INTELLIGENCE 80? Power 30? Charm 20? Not realistic numbers. No my lady, you have to make better reasoning for this, you only reach those numbers after certain time in the game, and TRAITS are your properties of f.eg. "Smart but weak" or "Strong but dumb" kind of thing, just it affects the attributes. Your character will be lowered to these stats, since it will fit the game more fair, you wannabe-super-christian:

Intelligence: 25
Power: 20
Charm: 25
Dexterity: 18

No-one starts with intelligence at 80, argh. Are you illetirate? Sounds like you're way too used with hacking your character and boosting your stats. AND members for a band is taking from the RPG, not existing ones but those who're in this RPG, like me and Fratt, but we're already in a band but you can join ours, or whatever. I don't like happy christian bullshit anyways..and you can only gain attributes at start from choosing a class who gives you attributes and takes some, and then some traits to take and add some attributes... IF AP Student gives you a bonus to intelligence, it cannot be that mutch and it has to give some drawbacks..like f.eg..less power or charm...etc...etc..

Another rule made: No absurd super artists. You have to build your way to the top.

Frattaliac and OleMurder gets thrown out of the audition by some brutish security guards....Bitter and left behind, they plan their REVENGE on the INDUSTRY PUNKS..and get victory on their own, independant and underground...and when they win the crowds pleasure, they record labels gonna be sorry and in regret for turning them down...BUT! They have the only sample tapes of their songes and cannot get them back since they're unwanted. What now? (Frattimonde-time! Show me your solution, man.) :bigsmile:

IC: Alonso's label has been looking for a group, a different kind of group, that could open for him and possibly travel on his latest tour with him. This group would offer some type of music besides Latin pop and thus widen the demographic that comes to Alonso's shows. Possibly an unknown rap group or Christian singer.

While working in the studio, Alonso picks up a demo tape he finds lying around, and after listening to it, he gives it to his manager. "Wow this is crazy cool stuff! Maybe these guys should tour with us." Sure enough, it was the Twin Blades' demo tape which they had left in the studio. The manager contacts the label and a phone call is made to Twin Blades, in hopes that they might be interested...

At last we shall have revenge on those whom laughed at us.
Did Frattalic think for himself.

(Frattalic) "Isnt´t this great Ole? You and Me will finaly have our dream".

"Yes," Ole said, and saddened - "The last ones we tried at, who we left the tape behind at, are suing us for stealing OUR tape, which they claim belongs to their record label. I know it's a good thing to get picked up by this woman, but she has the tape and not we."

Fratt looked angry at OleMurder, and said: "Well, whatever! We'll deal with those hoes in time. They think they can screw around and steal our stuff to get ahead of any "threaths" to their mainstream power, fuck them. Let's go to that chick on Jah and Heavy Stuff office, and get our tape back. Then maybe we'll join her ship."

OleMurder and Frattaliac went to the rock-mobile, and drived in hot rod to Jah and Heavy Stuff office, in heavy pursuit by Mainstream soft-crap records bikes close behind...

Frattalic and Ole rushed In to the office and throw up the door to womans office.

"We are here and we have something to ask". did Fratt utter.

(Woman) "And what would that be?

(Frattalic) "Well we have heard that you intend to squeeze us on money, by saying that you did the tape".

(Woman) "You should have thought twice beforeing giving us that tape".

(Frattalic) "But what use Is It for you when you don´t have anyone that sing like us".

Frattalic rolls on a instrumental version of their tape and begins to sing with his dark voice.

"Darkness, arise!

all Infidels. Turn to them dust.

Spill their blood, rape their hoes!
Destroy and mutilate their kin.

(Deep and loud Growl).

Ole puts on a mean face and a smiling grin, then draws a Desert Eagle towards Gracie and says; "I roll the dice, Russian Roulette and you are dead,
The bullet pierce,
Now what was it that you said?
Fight fierce, or suffer fierce!"

Gracie yells in fear: "Let the man go! I'm..I'm...at gun point here!"
The punks leave Fratt alone, loosing the grip. He falls down, knocked out,
and then Gracie commands, with regained fury and passion: "Arrest him!"
The punks seize Ole's body, and disarms him...

He becomes so mad that actually totally knocks out one of the punks, he deliverd a so strong blow that Itdid broke the punks jaw.

Suprized and frightend the punks step aside.

All of a sudden Alonso Quejana walks in from behind. His bodyguard, having figured out that something bad is going on, pulls out his own gun and fires in the air. This startles Ole, and he drops his gun. Gracie runs for the door, but she is too late. Ole has fired a shot into her side, and she falls to the floor, her left arm extended just beyond the threshold of the door to the outside. A huge firefight begins inside, as the studio security rushes in. Alonso is caught in the crossfire and a bullet grazes his forehead. He ducks for cover behind a wall in the sound booth. However the window in the booth is shot out and shards of glass pierce Alonso's face, blinding him in one eye. In a fit of fury, Alonso Quejana gets up and sprints as fast as he can to his locker, where he also has a gun. However in all the commotion he first tries to enter the wrong door, and upon turning around, takes a bullet in the head. By the time the police and parameics arrive, it is too late for Gracie and Alonso.

With the Mainstream Label leaders dead (Alonso and Gracie), OleMurder runs out the backladders of Heavy Jamish office, but FrattaliaC is left behind, in the hands of studio security! There is no hope to save him now, but OleMurder can return later, to rescue him. (Dexterity save successfull, but Power dice failed - Therefore had to flee.)

And so was Frattalic put in Custody by the punks.
Now he sat there In that cold imprisonment, full of despair.
For the first time of his life, Frattalic felt affraid.

"Where`s Ole? Will he get here In time to save me?"
Did Fratt think to himself.

He could only hope that Ole would be able rescue him.
Or else he would might not be alive much longer.

"Where are you? Save me someone!"

OleManiaC managed to flee the clutches of the mainstream punks, but FrattaliaC is held in custody until they can convince him to sing forcibly for them to make music, which he refused since they whouldn't return the tape. However, in the chaos Ole got the tape - But what does it matter, when he lost his brother in arms? He quickly plots a plan to rescue him, and it involves getting into the sewers.

But well outside Heavy Jam & Ish offices, there are security guards surrounding OleManiaC - No way to escape! OleMaster rolls a dexterity dice, but fails! It all seems futile, when....His much well-kept hidden asset, POWER, comes into play!

Up from OleMaster's pockets, he has a porable microphone, going on battery, and uses the instrumental on the tape as beat! Suddently, he begins battle rapping the security, rolling a successfull power dice and fending them off with wicked battle rhymes!

After this, Ole is still wounded from the battle before, and as his powers are exhausted, he decides going to a clinic, and get patched up for his gun wounds. The plan after this, is to render fat from a liposuction clinuc, render fat (with good amounts of human salt) and with that make soap, from that - with enough soap - make nitroglyserin, and with enough soap you can blow up about just anything. That's what the plan is - To reach the deep prison of FrattaliaC from the sewers and blow an entrance into z'there. But can it be done withouth getting caught?

(OOC: Fratt, I'll also leave that part to you to tell, to see if I can handle my buisness - Be reasonable about my strengths and weaknesses too.)
