I'm more of a WoW player these days, haven't had SC installed in a long time. I'm one of those folks who likes the game a lot more than he is skilled at it, you know? I love playing Starcraft, I'm just no good at strategy.
One thing I am good at, though, is losing things. And I've lost my sound files I edited out of the .mpq back when Queen of Blades was new on the shelves. Any help for a Zerg fan, even a Tauren one?
What I specifically want is the Queen's acknowledgement noise: kind of a howl-whistle-gargle-honk noise. It was my email notification noise, and I've never found one which is a suitable substitute. Any help? I really don't want to buy the game again for one .wav file, you know how I feel?

Go here: http://www.creepcolony.com/utilities.shtml and download Brood War Sound Utility and you'll get ALL the voices.

Welcome to warboards Palehoof:)
PaleHoof, you can also get WinMPQ (http://www.warboards.org/showthread.php?t=16586) (an *.mpq archive handler similar to WinZip) and extract the sounds directly from the Blizz's games archives. You also should need some reference files to each game, which are located here (direct link dl') (http://zezula.net/download/listfiles.zip) btw. ;)
And most and what should be done 1st of all (to be told in my post) - Welcome on board. :)

Is it so hard to give a person what he wants?
Queen Sounds (http://www.fileden.com/files/2006/8/30/194561/Music/Queen.zip) (.zip/.wav) Here you go mate.

No, it isn't. But that way, he will have the rewarding feeling to have solved it by himself. :P
And my indications also provided him the tool to extract other stuff from Blizz' games, like for instance models from WoW or even sounds from WC3-TFT. See? I had an underneath motive by telling him that. Next time, try to see below the surface for complementary hints (before posting along those lines). :smirk:

Ok, thanks for the bashing.. yet again.

No problem, mate. ;) You can sure count on me.
Side note: Don't take me so hardly, but maybe it's just me (along with my 'professional bias'). I seriously prefer the do it yourself approach, even if guided by others, than the "ask some one to do it for ya"... again n' again.

Well... not really that far... but I agree that it's much pleasenter when you are pressed by time to just get a link and get what you want fast...
Ah well... it's probably just me...

Many thanks, all. I got the files I needed and more than that.
I was so tired of the mail mod I had. Every time I got new mail in WoW Homer Simpson screeched at me: "The mail! The mail is here!"
