Problems with installing...

I've just gotten Diablo II, and I'm having a problem. My CD is scratched, and a file named "d2char.mpq" is corrupted and/or unreadable. I can't return the disc because I've borrowed it from a friend. Does anybody know where I can download this file?

Is the file on the play disk? If it is the play disk that is scrached then you are probably screwed. Aside from searching google you could have somebody email it to you (if it is small).

You need a new CD, the file is to large to send over the net in an email, and besides that, it setup cant install it, it will stop the installation... so it doesnt matter if you have the file or not.

BTW, If it is from a friend I hope you two realize that you can only be on diablo II one at a time... you both cant be on it with one set of cd keys (one for diablo II and one for the expanasion)

No, Neo. I just need that one file, then I'll reburn a new CD with the file on it.

As for the CD key thing, my friend has his cousin's key who lives in california for me to use. :)

make sure you have different keys for both classic and exp installation ;)

Um... That didn't quite work... Not exactly something to send while away. It got nearly 1/4 of the way, I believe, and died. I remember seeing it starting to fill in on MSN, but I had to go to work. When I came back, ZDS had messaged me nearly and hour after I had left, saying it didn't finish. By then, he was offline. Well... At least I know it'l take like 8 hours, but still, it's better than some connections o.O

Ugh. I got the same error when I was installing it, so me and my cousin can't play it over the LAN anymore (one of us uses the the D2 disc, and the other uses the D2exp disc... we both play the original game). But hey, D2's on sale on amazon.com for 16.00 right now (plus 8.00 shipping, unless you want to wait 2 weeks, and then its only $2-$4). Of course if you're lucky, you should be able to find the game in a store near you. And how do you plan on getting d2char.mpq onto the CD? isn't it write-protected?
