The fansite chat revealed that there was going to be a two year storyline. Wow. I have got no idea how that could possibly work, but if it worked, it'd be incredible. It'd really be just like being in the world.

I mean, how could they include all the players in the storyline, and have them all know what's going on? Maybe one faction will have different information that another faction? It's so interesting. I wish I had the money to play this game, I really do.

I wish I had entered the beta now that I think of it. I'm so excited.

Well, I bet WoW comes with a manual! ^^

But I haven't got WoW! I really want to know about this two year storyline. I mean, I've never played a game that had a two YEAR storyline. That'd be so cool. Arrrrggghhhh.... oh well, at least I have more time to... program StarCraft.org...

Haha, the game has over a million year storyline! ^^

Its the time between FT and WoW first day that is unknown.

I read somewhere, WoW picks up four years after the last WarCraft, which I never played. But suddenly, I'm excited. Too bad the beta test wasn't open to New Zealanders :(

Actually, it said that the storyline would continually evolve. It would never end. Man, I wish I was a part of this whole thing...

Scauthra

It will continue to evolve. Now, it takes 3-4 years after RoC, not FT. FT goes about 4-6 more months into the storyline if I remember right.

So all in all, 2.5-3.5 years of Warcraft time has yet to be heard of.

Over time, the game develops into a ever growing storyline. Thank god. That is something EQ lacks... horribly.

Yeah WOW does take place 4 years after ROC and TFT is 4 months after ROC.
Now blizzard would likely have a warcraft 4 right?...so where would that take off from ?..(Yea I know I'm jumping the gun ..but hey..)
I mean it would be rad to have that continuity between wow and wc4..like they said they would have epic quests that would carry forward the plot of WOW as a whole.
I wonder whethere players could interact with legendary figures on these epic quests like Jaina and Thrall leading a band of the toughest, most adpet fighters (players) from WOW to Draenor in a quest to battle the demons there or whatever.
That would be very cool and i guess things like these could be used as a springboard for wc4.
Imagine If your chracter is one of those fighters, and depending on what you do your chracter could become a legendary hero in wc4.
Awesome :D

Well, I gurantee you see the legendary heroes in FT, RoC, War2/1 that are alive. I mean, they can not just disappear into thin air.

If there is a WArcraft 4, it will be way down the line and must take place in a time way ahead of WoW's for it to ever make sense.

TranquilNightElf

Well maybe not Way ahead of WoW...but defenitely after any expansion to WOW blizzard might hae in mind.,

No because every day in WoW is +1 day to the storyline. When WoW catches up with the timeline of Warcraft 4... see my point?

There was a 2 year or 4 year (I forgot which) storyline in a game called Anarchy Online that I used to play. It was fun because people would actively participate in on-going roleplaying that changed the world of the game. But about the 2nd year of playing, the storyline degraded into nothingness. I hope that Blizzard, being the able storytellers that they are, could provide what they promise.

And let's not speculate about Warcraft 4 yet because it's waaaay too early to even think it's a possibility.

Well Yeah that is of course keeping in mind the people at blizzard have already forseen a point for a beginning for WC4 in the future.

the sad thing is going to be like when warcraft 4 IS released then either they would stop WoW at that instant or let it continue into an alternate reality.

I hope that Blizzard, being the able storytellers that they are, could provide what they promise.

I don't think they'll dissapoint.
Smart of them to keep a 2 year storyline. If it were too long then it might degrade into nothingness as well.

And let's not speculate about Warcraft 4 yet because it's waaaay too early to even think it's a possibility.
Perhaps, but it's still a fun thing to do :D

For all we know, the Warcraft 4 storyline could be a chunk of an event that actually occurred in WoW :P. This way you wouldn't have to worry about the WoW storyline stopping, and actual player names in World of Warcraft could be used in Warcraft 4, which would be uber cool. Of course, that's speculation, and it will doubtfully happen :P. As far as I'm concerned, Warcraft 4 is a LOOOONNNGGG way off, so I'm not even going to worry about it.

As for the two year storyline, it's going to be great eh? You can tell that Blizz is really going quest content-heavy on this. There will doubtfully be a boring moment in WoW, if all goes to Blizzard's plans. This just adds even more to the fact that WoW is worth the monthly fee. I mean, I'd pay a heck of a lot more than 10 a month for a game that lasts 2+ years :P.

I just can't wait to get to actually lay seige to the opposing faction's cities! It's going to be so great!

They said they were going to have a 2+ year storyline, and... they're going to cater for both good and not-so-good players, casual and hardcore players. And -everyone- is going to be involved in the storyline.

I mean, imagine that, would everyone in the whole entire world be doing the same quests? Or would they all be told the same things at the same time? Or would it be more complicated, where everyone has a different piece of the puzzle, and because of the way WoW is set up, they all have to meet people with different skills and experiences.

So, you'd go to some dungeon or somewhere (instance thingy is so cool) and then you'd see something, and one person would be like 'What's that?' and then the other person would be like 'Oh, I saw that thing in blah, the town was under attack, what is it doing here?' That's how I see that one person would tell another person pieces of the storyline.

Or maybe, something like the ORG split from the Legacy network would split. Some major event would happen at a certain time, and everyone nearby would see it. And then for the people who missed it, they'd wake up, turn on their computer and when they turned on WoW, they'd see all these signs, and all these dead bodies and whatever, showing that something had happened. And so the story would progress.

That is so cool!!! Imagine that, every day in this world is one day in the WarCraft world. Is that cool or what?

I wonder if as soon as you buy it off the shelf you get 1 year membership included in the price. That'd be so much easier.

Um, the original game will probally run for around 50 dollars. And each month will be around 12.

12*12=144
144+50=194

You would rather pay $194 dollars for a game, instead of 12 dollars per month?

BSTRhino
02-12-2004, 10:14 PM
Well, the thing is, it's difficult to ask for a Christmas present that is $12 per month... I think I'm more likely if I take the lump sum option.

Anyway, isn't it in Blizzard's best interests if we show them the money first? They should give us a discount for that.

Graeme
02-12-2004, 10:34 PM
Aye, BSTRhino. As with almost every MMO game, if you do pay in a lump sum, the cost of the payment is greatly reduced, depending on how far ahead you buy. They usually have 3 month packages with x much dollars off, and 6 month, and 1 year, etc.

I'll likely go with 3 month packages, just in case anything goes wrong with internet, my computer and whatnot. I generally don't like wasting money, so I'd rather not pay for something I may not be getting :P.

Yeah, you're right. But I'm broke. I only have $6 New Zealand. That's like $3 american. That's why Christmas is a good time to get a lump sum.

Ryzom is gonna have the world form to player actions as well. We will see if that works out.

In Warcraft 4, it be sweet if like, when you make a unit it has the name of a player who was in WoW. ^^

Hopefully the game comes w/ a month free trial as with most other MMORPG's.

Two year storyline? I take it that Blizzard thinks that WoW is going to last 2 years before another game is the highlight of their new projects.

Nah, WoW will be 10 years before it starts to plunder, IMO.

Haha Scau, I said just that a few posts up :P. Perhaps you read it, but it only sunk in a subconcious level :P.

What I said a while ago:

Anyway, I agree with you on WoW lasting. I have my bets WoW will last a good decade before it really dies out. I mean, I know people that STILL play Diablo (one), and that game's been around forever :P. World of Warcraft will be at least 10X better than Diablo, and it will likely have 10X the popularity :D.

The two year storyline is the best part in the whole game. As they said in that HomeLAN interview, everyone will be lead to experience the storyline first hand through quests. It'll be so cool, because everyone will be experiencing the storyline at the same time. Day after day... I can't wait!!!

And I do agree, WoW isn't really competing with the RTS games. I know that once I start play this, I will be addicted to know what is going to happen next in the story. And to think that I have to work with other players to find the next part in the story... man, this game is going to be so cool.

When you think about it, Blizzard is like, god of the World of WarCraft world. If they wanted to, they could make Britney Spears appear in there. They could do whatever they wanted. It's so cool.

Well, after the two year storyline ends, I suspect there will be another storyline to go with it. But that doesn't leave any room for WarCraft 4. WarCraft 4 just won't be possible if World of WarCraft is going on at the same time.
