Hey I am trying to make a map where at the beginning you choose which race you want, if you want to be offensive or defensive and then how much you want of say Starports and Factories or for Zerg how many Hatcheries and what design. The map is similar to 2vs2 Zero Clutter maps and my question is will I be able to spawn a town hall (CC, Hatch...) right next to the minerals?

I am using SCMDraft 2 and I think I have the basic hang of it.
Thanks for any help in advance :)

So it's like fastest but without actually doing any of the building? Sure sounds fun :/

It's possible, but the more options, the more difficult. And it would be pretty susceptible to breaking under a LOT of situations.

Lost Temple would be better, but it does sound good. Defense will have to be extremely good, because offensive people almost always win.
1 or 2 cannons do just about as much protection as 20 or 30 :/

It would be VERY simple actually, just stack the three main bases on top of each other, then after they choose their race at the beginning, and then remove the ones that they don't want and there ya go... The rest would just be locations for the buildings and you're set ^.^.

Do you stack the three bases so they all show up at the beginning? I was thinking that I would just set a condition "Player 1 brings at least 1 terran civilian to "ZergDefensiveStyle3" and from there I have a lot of actions, most of which are "Create 1 Hatchery at Location "HatcheryDefensiveStyle3""

If you could elaborate, I would really appreaciate it. Thanks :)

p.s. to all you haters, this is a map that my friends and I decided we wanted, so I took the liberty to create it. And if the public enjoys it as well, then SO BE IT.

No, it's impossible to spawn a unit within the SC unit where they can't belong, therefore you have to stack them right by the minerals and then destroy what you don't want.

I've run into a slight problem: I was just making locations to spawn zerg buildings (in legit places) when this happened!: Unable to add location: Location limit reached. And this was about to be the 255th location (255 is important in SC I think).

Is there any way to override this? Is there another program that will allow me to have more than 255 locations?

Please help and thanks in advance.

p.s. Someone should think about a Q&A Sticky for the forum.

this is the best thing you can do

But what about the zerg buildings? They have creep and I think that would interfere with the terran/toss buildings.

In addition I think if I had bases overlayed (which I think is a good idea) at the beginning, I think it would go over the 1650 unit limit.

If you stack units at the start using a map editor creep won't effect them, so it wouid be fine and the creep would go away fast enough that it shouldn't matter too much.

And no, 255 = hard coded into StarCraft, you can't go over that.

The creep may pose a problem, because if you stack the 3 bases at the beginning, the Hatchery will start to produce creep, and if the player waits for more than just a second or two to make his choice, if he does not choose to play Zerg, the creep will still be there when he starts the game, which will be an obvious bug and problem. I can't think of a solution, though...
