ive been pondering this question for ages. could you please state your opinion. all votes would be appreciated. because it seems that everyone is going on pgt these days.

Sure. PGT is very challenging, but you should play a few games to see how it’s like. If you play hard enough, you might just beat someone. Everyone joins PGT, not just PROs. You might just stumble into someone.

Im in pgt, I just never play there. I want to learn a bit more before I play with the big boys.
If you feel your ready go for it, you learn a lot playing people there.

Well even though it's not full of pros don't expect to go in there like a hotshot and start pwning because it's not going to happen. Most of the people in the D level are as good or better than most of the good players on B.net. (the ones that are actually "good"). Play it some and see what you think. You may like it you may not.

PGT is challenging. As soon as I get my normal landline connection back up, I'll be going back in. U238 is right about the player skills - losing 90% of your games at first is just about a given :/

Ya well u can expect to loose more than 90% of u'r games on pgt if u're under midy or u238s skill level....i for example have played around 7 games on pgt and i lost everything never even got close to winning but it helps you improve... so my advice is to play on pgt and not to give up even if u get owned in u'r first games...

If you want to joing PGT because all your friends moved there, then move there.
If you want to join PGT because you want to compare your skill to those on PGT, then move there.
If you just want to play SC, it doesn't really matter if it's PGT or not, does it?

Well lets see there's at least 4 active people on pgt. (Me, Ahzzy,Gladstone and lammy) I'm not sure if chronic plays pgt or Jays.

Yes if you play pgt then you'll probably end up in D- for your first 2-3 seasons. After that you'll probably sit in D and might advance to D+ if you're lucky.

lol mat. dont take it so hard on yourself. i mean, most ppl on pgt have been playing since it came out. ok, maybe not that long, but like, 2-3 years at least.

Why is PGT necessary to improve skill? There are plenty of good players on b.net.
Sure, maybe I'd only win 1 game out of 100 on PGT, whereas I win about 50% of my games on b.net (which is painfully obvious from my stats...78 wins, 78 losses...and everytime I win, I know I will lose the next game, because so far I have never had over 2 wins more than losses...gah), but that doesn't mean I can't get better on b.net.
I think saying "you get better playng against people better than you" is only true to some extent.
Besides, losing all the time takes its toll on the ego :concern:
Oh, btw...while we're on the subject: Since so many seem to move to PGT, I tried to do the same last night, but no matter which account name I typed, it kept saying the name already is in use. Including names (that I tested) like "Ndiugvasn3487". Something seems very wrong. Is there something I should know about?
O.o how can that happen? You did go to pgtour.net and register there right? You have to do that first before you can use b.net-x.

Haha tell me about it my ego is at an all-time low on bnet i have like 19 wins and 62 losses...on pgt i got 7 losses...in the last 2 weeks i haven't won a single game.... :/
And yes blupp no matter what name u type in bnet-x u need a pgt account...

Ya well although i'm demoralised as hell the fun of the game is what keeps me playin and it'll prolly keep me playin for a long time...

Losing shouldn't be demoralizing. It should wake you up to practice more and learm more. Look at what you did and what he did in the replay. Then figure how to counter it and proctice doing that either against a comp or by yourself. Eventually you'll learn that losing isn't a big deal. After all you can always create a spoof account when you do become good and use that until your old one expires then recreate the old one. Just don't let it get to you. There'll always be people better than you and there'lll always be people worse.

i just joined PGT. Im in the [D] channel on Battle.net x. im new to it and im wondering HOW DO YOU JOIN GAMES?
like i go to the games and i dont see anything on melee or one on one. Is it my connection thats preventing me to see the games? or am i missing something... help plz?
You've either got a "black list" or there's currently no games pubbies open. When picking up a game on pgt it's better to spam in the channel with something like "D 1v1 msg" while looking for games. If you do have a "black list" you can usually fix that by either creating a game and then leaveing it or just logging off b.net-x and logging back in.

Hmmz i had this problem too and it seems you can't join or create any games unless u've got the latest pgt map pack in your download folder(well at least that was my problem)...

hmm. my biggest problem is that on west im just too dam concerned with my record. im afraid to lose thats why im getting rusty playing UMS all the time. ill try to improve on labor day, get over my lose-a-phobia.

i still cant join any games on PGT and i still cant see any games either. i tried to make a game but whatever i type for the game name it says its it exists. What can i do?!! this sucks...

I told you download the pgt map pack and put it in your download folder in the maps section of where u installed SC...also verify that u have pp on and the latest version of BW launcher...
