Ok, First off I only really have access to Custom Games right now, and I can't get on b.net. However I'm practicing against the computer. I still can't take an easy computer, mainly because I'm an old starcraft player and I'm having trouble adjusting to the high starting resources.

I have already found that I prefer playing night elves, but I am willing and I want to learn human, as well as Undead. Any help people could give me especially in the area of starting, and micro. Is the Ward a good starting hero? Or is PoTM? I keep hearing that KotG is the best starting hero, why is that? the damage on the treants isn't enough to make up for the PoTM with the aura on... Or is it to use them as a meat shield?

After the most recent patch, I would have to say you would definately want to consider Priestess of the Moon with her Trueshot Aura and Archers. This is especially beneficial if you have an ally who also has ranged units.

It's probably easy to start off playing Human, as they're more straight-forward. Night Elves need a lot of micro to play well.

For Humans, you'll want to start off building an altar, barracks, and a farm, and then getting a total of 5 peasants on your mine. Any hero will work for you, if you pick the right skills. Paladin should be Holy Light/Devotion aura, Archmage you'll probably want Water Elementals and Brilliance Aura, Mountain King varies, and Bloodmage is Flamestrike/Siphon Mana. Get about 10 or so peasants (5 gold, 5 lumber) and then pump some footmen, but don't forget farms. Once you have a few footmen and a hero, go out and creep a bit. Get your hero to level 3 if possible. You'll probably want to tech to tier2 about now, and build a blacksmith so that you can get riflemen. Once you get to tier2, build an arcane sanctum and get some sorceresses for their slow spell. Priests and Spellbreakers also help. You'll probably want to get a second hero as well to help out. Later on, get some Knights.

You'll want to creep as much as possible until you're ready to attack (around 50 supply for a first attack, or ~60-70 supply for others). As long as you keep heroes alive and use your units effectively (melee counters range, siege and range counters casters, casters counter melee, etc), you'll be fine.

If you want help with NE, the best hero to start with is probably the warden for her Fan of Knives spell, which is a great Area of Effect (AoE spell). Blink is a good secondary spell because it can keep her alive. Start out by building your alter and moon well and then filling your mine. Then make 8 or 9 wisps (some will be used up in buildings) and put them on lumber. Around 150 lumber, build a hunter's hall and an Ancient of War (AoW). Then build a moonwell and second Ancient of war when you have the necessary lumber. When your AoW's are done, start making Huntresses and go creeping. Use moon wells to keep your units healthy. Once you have 30-40 supply worth of Huntresses, try attacking your opponent. Huntresses are strong early on, but are weak against ranged attacks, so try to be quick with them. Also, shift out injured Huntresses so that they don't die. This should be enough to cripple the easy computer. If not, start making archers to replace Huntresses, and tech to tier3 and get Mountain Giants with their hardened skin upgrade. Use their taunt ability to draw damage, while the archers dish it out.

zsnowboardinz, what are you talking about? The Priestess of the Moon most certainly has Trueshot Aura. The Keeper of the Grove has Thorns.
