im not sure if you are aware of this, but they have come out with SC books. one of which is called liberty's crusade which is a rough overview of the terran campaign through the eyes of a reporter. during a discussion with raynor, liberty is told that raynor had a son who was enlisted in the ghost program and was "killed." for all we know he could very well still be alive.

Holy shit... I don't know what to say really.

But how old is Raynor really? Isn't he like 29? The kid would have to be at least 14 to enter a program like the ghost program (I'm guessing), so that'd mean Raynor knocked up some chick when he was only 15. Perhaps he broke up with her. I also recall in the queen of blades (I think), that Raynor might of had another girlfriend but broke up with her.
Of course, he was obviously single when he developed a thing for Kerrigan about a decade later.

So ya. About his son. How would his son have "died"? And why would he still be alive? Just an interesting thought. Maybe the son abandoned the confederacy, marked himself off as dead and joined Duran's cause! Raynor may have rejected his son and ignored his existence due to depression, the fact he shouldn't have done what he did with his girl when he was young, or whatever else.

Duran was already affiliated with the confederacy at the time, so he may have been leading what looked like a secret rebellion (under the guise of an confederate officer) that generated anti-establishment fools (no disrespect intended... =P); of course Duran knew it was something more, cuz Duran's an evil genius and we all know that. =P

So that'd mean Raynor's son could be among the mercenaries who had been waiting until Duran made the drop-by return trip. Raynor's son could have acted as one of the sentrys in an effort to guard the mass research and experimentation operation that led to the hybrids.
Maybe he's Duran's right hand who survives Zeratul's invasive investigation.
It'd be interesting to see Raynor engaged in violent hand-to-hand combat with him, only to have him say "James, I am your Son!"
Raynor: Noo!!! Not true man, not true! You kiddin' man I know you trippin'.:D

So that's what I've tried to work out about all this.

N O! Ghosts are like spartans, taken at an early age and trained as soon as they show psionic potenatal... so he could have had a chield later on. Also, blizz wouldnt make a plot like that. the real plot is truly contained in the games.

It aint exactly an unoriginal plot... I mean boyfriend/girlfriend issues, and son/daughter reclamation adds depth to any story. Possibly even more depth if its a violent, action sci-fi, space warfare storyline based off a game. =P

Raynor: Noo!!! Not true man, not true! You kiddin' man I know you trippin'.

Dude i couldnt have said it better, specically with the "trippin" part. =D

Dam, i need to add the Starcraft Novels to my christmas list. Screw the halo books (which i read like a million times) i trade any halo book for a Sc one.
