Game Informer has a 10-page San Andreas preview showing now at E3. Every point here is all confirmed and official from the early release of Game Informer. The magazine has 12 screenshots.

Screenshots
- One pic shows the inside of a house, with rendered interior environments. There is furniture inside the house.
- One shows a helicopter with its searchlights on a runaway criminal.
- The others show how the main character can get fat, its a pic of him (fat) crossing the street with a donut shop in the background.
- One shows two other characters that are apart of the main character's crew.
- One shows a gang carjacking. Three guys with doo rag masks are carjacking other guys.
- One with two men sneaking around the back of a house about to rob it. They are crouching and carrying guns.
- Another one shows a california type pimped out car.
- The last one shows the background of LA with a smog sky.
- The rest are the three we have already seen.

General
- The game is more serious than the others, but the elements of comedy are still there.
- A full staff of reasearch personnel at Rockstar have been studying Las Vegas, San Diego, and Los Angeles for months to ensure that they truly capture the feelings of these cities.

Location
- The game will not take place in Los Angeles, San Francisco, or Las Vegas. It will take place IN ALL THREE as well as the countryside in between.
- Los Angeles will be called Los Santos, San Francisco will be called San Fieero, and Las Vegas will be called Las Venturra.
- Each city is about the same size as Vice City.
- Not all cities will be open at the start of the game.
- The entire game will be about four to six times as large as Vice City.
- San Fierro (San Francisco) will have hills. This city is more driving based.
- You can drive from LA, through the countryside, up a mountain, into San Fran, and onto Las Vegas.
- Driving through the desert won’t be empty and plain with a couple cacti...it will be vibrant and alive with weird things to see.
- There will be a lot more buildings with open interiors.

Graphics
- The graphics engine has been tweaked. Smog will be present in LA, and real-time reflections on cars, windows, and mirrors, as well as new techniques like radial lighting, which allows for more realistic shadowing, and soft-shadow lighting for interior levels will be present.
- Everything in the game now has independent models for day and night to give better lighting and shadowing.
- The game will have ragdoll physics, or “impact animation” in Rockstar’s words.

Vehicles
- As for vehicles, there will be pimped-out lowriders, and 90’s versions of some GTA3/VC cars will return.
- There will be bicycles.

Story
- Characters from the past will return.

Gameplay
- In the Las Vegas city, you will be able to buy and build a casino - and then run it.
- You can then gamble your money in the casino.
- Your character can dual wield pistols and potentially other weapons.
- You need to eat to retain your stamina. If you eat too much fast food, you become fat and pedestrians mock you for being fat. You also run slower. To remedy this, you can go to a gym to exercise.
- You can now rob homes. The robberies will require skill and planning, however.
- You can recruit gang members and use them to do four person drive-by’s. (seen here)

Weapons
- The choice of weapons will match the time in which the era of the early 90's.

Artificial Intelligence
- Enemy/pedestrian AI will be greatly revamped and they will think more logically. You can't beat someone to death in broad daylight and not have people notice and react.
- Your enemies will be smarter, which will make robbing houses take a lot of skill.

Music
- There will be a rap station, but there will be a variety of other stations as always.

All this Game Informer information was compiled and summarized from PlanetGTA, GamesRadar, user BTB at GameFAQs, and user Nasfive0 at GameFAQs.

The following features have been confirmed for GTA: San Andreas:
• Tweaked Vice City
• Entire state of San Andreas included, meaning three cities will be present in the game, each connected by countryside. Los Santos, a fictional Los Angeles, San Fierro, a rendition of San Francisco, and La Venturra, which is the Grand Theft Auto version of Las Vegas.
• Larger map, which is much more interesting and "alive" than Vice City. Hills have been confirmed, and even a mountain is to be included.
• Smog will be present in Los Santos to give it a "real life" feeling.
• "Characters from the past" will return.
• Ragdoll physics, aka "Impact Animation" similar to that seen in recent PC titles like Far Cry, Half Life 2 and Max Payne 2.
• In La Venturra, set up a casino, or gamble in those owned by others.
• Recruit gang members and perform four person drive by's. (Screenshot)
• Pedal Bicycles (Screenshot)
• House robberies will take place but require skill and planning.
• Stamina Meter. Carl will have to consume food on his journey across San Andreas, and will gain weight if he eats too much. Gyms will be available to work out in.
• More info as it is released....

Well, there goes about 4 months of my life.

No kidding . . . it looks great ^_^. Three cities eh? And a casino!? I cannot wait!

Hey, any word on the expected release date? If they're, by some crazy fluke, shooting for summer, I would be so content! I need something to tide me over for the summer, and this looks like it would last me for the majority of the two months.

- There will be bicycles.

Hahaha, SWEET! That will be all I will ride. :D

Hahah! Oh man, that will be funny! :)

This sounds good, and although I knew it was coming out, I never knew the details like this. Thanks! I'm going to get it for sure.

They shouldn't make this PS2 exclusive. I'm sure they will make more money if they come out with it on the XBOX.

Isn't it coming out for the XBOX as well? Someone said Microsoft bought Rockstar games? Probably a rumor because if they did it would have been BIG news.

Anyway, the game looks sweet, hopefully I'll have a new computer to play all these cool games coming out ^.^

Looks fairly good. I think I like all the new features, except for the eating part. That sounds like it will get a little tedious.

Anyway, I'll have to check this out. If I can find money after Half-Life 2 and some other stuff comes out...

Microsoft buys rockstar? No way. Too bad my parents are GTA-haters after all the crap that katie couric and all of the newspeople did after that idiot shot a car and said he did it because of GTAIII....ugh

Everything about that looks awesome. I can't wait until its out, because i'll be playing it at friends houses. I had an idea that there could be a gta online, where some of the people weren't NPC's, so that you sometimes got punished when you went on huge shooting rampages. Think of ten people riding on one of those buses, ninety miles an hour, with m-16's out the window, guns blazing? Now that would get an award from me.

Looks interesting. Though it has bad timing if it is coming out for xbox because some people will be saving up for Halo 2 which comes out on November 9.

Always thinking of Halo :) .

I don't plan on getting this game though, due to GTA-hating parents. Shooting cops isn't that bad is it?

they should make a "T" version without all the gore for people like us :p

Yup, thats how good it is.

Don't you just hate people who give the worst excuses such as that?

I don't think it's just the violence. Apparently there was video of strip clubs in GTA3?

You're thinking of BMX XXX. And yes, i do hate people who blame the stupid things they do on other people- especially video games. Like columbine being blamed on Doom.

Another thing that looks great about this is that the cities aren't right next to each other, because that's pretty unrealistic. It'll be nice to be cruising at 120 through some cornfields...hahaha

And i love 90's cars. This is going to be so awesome. As for radio, as long as they have the "She's on fire" station, i wont complain.
