I found an older video card that worked with a seperate computer, but in attempt to install it as a secondary card on a different computer for a second monitor, it doesnt appear as a device nor does it feed any information to the monitor. It's an ATI Radeon 8500le, and as for my computer... I recieved it as a gift so I'm unsure as the specifics, but in "system information" it tells me its Model is a Dell DM051? I dont know why it's not showing up, I'm pretty sure I have the card inserted fully into the slot, but I dont see any lights nor do I hear the fan running, I'm not sure if I need to attach it to anything else O_o. I also dont remember if I needed to install anything, or if it came with any CD's, as basically I ripped it out of a non-working computer (virus-related complications) and the box is nowhere to be found O_o

All help is appreciated, sorry about my ignorance in this area >_<

As far as you know you can't run two video cards on the same computer without a "Crossfire" compatiable motherboard (ATi's two card tech) or "SLi" compatiable motherboard (Nvidia's tech).

For dual monitor i just have two monitors hooked up to my video card via a splitter that came with my card, an ATi All-In-Wonder 9600.

Is the compter's video card built on the MB? Is the video card that you our wanting to use a PCI or an AGP video card? One more question is your OS XP or an older version? If it is XP it runs dual video cards if it's an older OS I don't think you'll beable to run the second video card.

First of all, yes you can run two non-SLI/Crossfire cards in one machine, they just don't cooperate, per se. I assume that if you got the second video card in without breaking anything, it's a PCI card?

If you have two videocards, that means you can have..4 monitors?
I'm currently using 2 monitors, and I must say, its very handy.
Play wow on 1 monitor / watch porn (imean movies) on 2nd...its good. :P

it's a PCI card?
AGP card :/. It's funny, the only thing that happened when I inserted the video card and rebooted is that my computer did a chkdsk. I dont think I damaged anything O_o

The reason I ask is that motherboards generally have one AGP slot, so if you already have a video card in there I was assuming that you had no open AGP slots, unless of course your existing video card is an integrated video card.

Yes, it's integrated. I tried switching settings in my BIOS to read the VGA card as well, but there are none O_o.

Solved. My particular brand of computer doesnt have a VGA slot, but oddly the card fit into the PCI express slot anyways >.<
