Im looking for a digital camera in the 300-400$ price range.
I don't need SLR, but manual realease control would be nice.
Im looking for 6-9mega pixels, internal recharable battery.
Thanks.

Im going to the Canadian Rockies in a few days, and I need a working camera soon.
Any hints on what to look for is helpful, both in selection of a camera and the rockies.

I'd try to help, but the best advice I can give you is to make sure you get something over 4 megapixels. Other than that, I'm really not a camera specialist =P

When you say that you don't need an SLR, I'm not sure what you mean. SLR isn't a feature so much as it is a better camera. SLR gives you not only the ability to see exactly what you're shooting, but it gives you the added flexibility of using different lenses for zoom and macro photos. The versatility of an SLR with regard to features is usually better too.

An entry level SLR can be had within your budget, but if you're going to do it, I suggest going with a Canon, which would run you at least $500 or more. If you don't want to go SLR as you indicated, I would suggest staying away from anything pricey as you will most likely be throwing away money on the most recent advancements which likely won't have much impact on your end result. The difference between 6mp and 9mp is not noticeable to the average person.
