View Full Version : Aim Hijacking Program Warning
If you receive a IM from me or anyone else about a saddam game. Don't click the link and install that program. It passively sends messages to people on ur buddy list with the same message you receive from me or someone else.
It's called Buddylinks Messenging Intergration

Yeah, my friend got that recently. He found a fix somewhere. I'll ask him about it and post the link to the patch if I get a chance.

I definitely got that sent to me... I think I clicked on the link... crap.
Crap...I got that a little while ago and clicked. What exactly does it do to your comp?
Nothing. Just take ur buddy list and send the same message to all listed.

Warning! You're encountered an ID10T error!
I got a few "if i sent you a link, don't click it" messages from people. My response was "what link." Yeah for using an AIM version from 2000.
The scam only affected extremely gullable people, just like most email viruses...

Agreed. Well, that and that kickass UPnP technology! It's a savior for those with routers.:D

Why is it that some people can't help but be so spiteful that they try to piss off as many people as possible in rather pathetic and annoying ways?

ROFL. MSN messanger has had so many more problems than AIM, mostly because it's partially integrated into windows. Not to mention, Microsoft keeps trying to make it proprietary so that you need the MSN messanger program to use their protocol. If you want to use MSN messanger, that's fine with me, but just don't go around saying that it's superior to other IM formats, especially because of problems caused by stupid users.
Agree with Exedore, I cant imagine why anyone would use MSN... I mean wtf? Enough fo you complain about Microsoft, but turn around and use thier software anyways?
I use AIM w/DeadAIM (tabbed IMS/Logging/etc... no ads) and I am just fine. Thought about getting ICQ, but honestly whats the point? I cant imagine really needed ICQ that bad... hehe :P
That and I need to get a better "24/7 internet connection" meh...

Quickie question. Does it leech onto an open AIM port from your computer or does it work through using the AIM program? Just wondering, because I use Trillian, and the thought crossed my mind that perhaps I'm immune to being guilty of spreading it because I use a superior IM client. :D
I DL SOMETHING CALL VIRUS. IT SAY IT HELP MY COMP. I AM SO SMART FOR DLING IT. j/k.

Well, I haven't gotten any "messages" from you ;) So maybe you're safe ;)

Ok, if it just sends the same message to other people, what's the problem? Does the message have a virus attached or something (unlikely)
Also, why in the hell would you click a link that you didn't recognize?

I click on them all the time, because for the most part, they're all legitimate because of the nature of the linked media the person I received it from sends. How am I to know that that specific one isn't? Answer me that.

I had a similar problem long time a go, except it would spam this one link that said I was getting a new digital camera...
That's why trillian is awesome... along with mozilla of course.
Also, why would anyone install a strange program?
clicking a link from a friend, i understand but dloading a program?
that's why an av is important :)

There are so many weird media types out there, it's can sometimes be difficult to differentiate the legit ones from the crap. For instance, would any of you install something called the "Axel Player"?
