Subject: Terran Legion Rules and Regulations.

Body:
1: All Terran Legion members must first and foremost be members of the Warboards Starcraft Clan.

2: All Terran Legion members must abide by all current, and future, Clan rules and regulations.

3: The Terran Legion Commander has final say on any Warboards Clansmen wishing to be in the Legion.

4: The Terran Legion is a voluntary body within the Warboards Starcraft Clan. No Clansmen who wishes to play with Terran is required to join the Legion.

5: All members of the Terran Legion automatically participate in the Warboards Starcraft Clan Ladder, but any battle where a Legion member faced a Zerg opponent may have their replay submitted to the Terran Legion Commander to be considered for Legion Rank, which will have no bearing whatsoever on Ladder rank, and is merely used for bragging rights within the Legion itself.

6: Terran Legion Rank value will be determined using the same scale as the Ladder, but with the following exceptions:

Each sub-rank (ie: A-1, A-2, etc.) will have a specific Rank title associated with it, which Terran Legion members may list in their signature beneath their Ladder rank. Each Rank has a score-value associated with it, which must be attained before the Rank is "earned". The sub-rank values are as follows:

1 = 1800-1999
2 = 1600-1799
3 = 1400-1599
4 = 1200-1399
5 = 1000-1199

Private = 999 or lower

When the point value of 2000+ is reached, the player is immediately bumped up to the next level of Ranks, and their point value is reset to 1000

The Ranks are as follows:

A: Generals
1: General of the Legion (GotL)
2: General
3: Lieutenant General
4: Major General
5: Brigadier General

B: Officer
1: Colonel
2: Lieutenant Colonel
3: Major
4: Captain
5: Lieutenant

C: Military School Cadet
1: Cadet Captain
2: Cadet Lieutenant
3: Cadet Sergeant
4: Cadet Corporal
5: Cadet Private

D: Senior NCO
1: Master Sergeant Major
2: First Sergeant Major
3: Sergeant Major
4: First Master Sergeant
5: First Sergeant

E: NCO
1: Master Sergeant
2: Sergeant First Class
3: Staff Sergeant
4: Sergeant
5: Corporal

Everyone below Corporal is a Private, and everyone entering the Legion (ie: everyone right now) starts at 900 Rank value. You must win battles to prove your command ability to rise in Rank.

7: To achieve a rank, you must meet, or surpass, the minimum Rank value. Each Rank can only be held by one person at a time -- the Rank is held by the highest-scored member, with each member holding the next rank down. (ie: You could be a Staff Sergeant with a Rank value of 1275, only to have the Sergeant below you get raised to 1300. This would bump him to Staff Sergeant and you back to Sergeant. But, your Rank value is still 1275, so your next win could still bump you higher to the Sergeant First Class Rank). In essence, the person with the highest score earns the Rank associated with his/her score, and everyone else below him/her is given the next Rank down, in order.

7B: The one exception to this rule is the General of the Legion (GotL) Rank. When a player achieves the Rank of GotL, that player stops accruing increases in Rank value (but that player could still lose points, if they lose a Terran Legion battle). For another player to become GotL, he/she must beat that high score. The new player is now given the rank of GotL, and the original player drops to the minimum score (1800) for General and the GotL Rank value is changed to the new High Score.

8: After GotL has changed hands for the 4th time, all players are reset to Private and all Rank values are reset to prevent the GotL Rank Value from becoming astronomical. (ie: there will be 3 GotL during each Ranked season, with the 4th immediately resetting all score values)

The Terran Legion Rank can be publically showcased underneath the member's Warboards Starcraft Clan Ladder rank in his/her signature.

ie: (using your rank, U-238)
Warboards Starcraft Clan Ladder Rank A (3rd overall with 1370) 8-2
Terran Legion Master Sergeant (1810)

Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, Terran Domion and Confederacy constituents, to the Terran Legion Official Topic! Here we will discuss our battles, announce our intent to join, and brag when we kick the Zerg into the core of each world we find them on!

I am in the process of setting up our first tournament, where the Terran Legion and a Zerg brood both find an uninhabited planet at the same time. Who will take it? And who will die?

The planet will consist of four continents in a standard "tournament" fashion, with the first continent consisting of 8 total battles (8 Terran Legion, 8 Zerg), with the winners of the four battles moving on to the second continent, the winners of those battles will move on to the smallest continent for two fierce close-quarters combat, and the victors of those two battles will move on to the giant triangular island, code-named 'Veeland' (lol), where the final captor for the planet is decided! I will get with U-238, Middy, and Ahzz about this soon so we can make sure everything is fair and just.

(with these battles, there is a chance that there may not be an equal number of Terran/Zerg winners in the early battles -- I am working on contingency plans for these scenarios, and will hopefully have something for you next week)

Anyway, your first post here should announce your official entry into the Terran Legion. After that, you're free to chat away. Just to reiterate, we are not a separate entity from the Clan -- we are Clan members, but we rally to our own banner when the Zerg rear their heads.

I will get a website especially for us soon. I might even work on it a little today after I wash the car.

I would lastly like to thank the current Clan Masters, Middy and Ahzz, and U-238 for approving the rules and allowing the Terran Legion to become part of their hallowed organization. I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say we are all honored to be able to claim affiliation with the Clan. Even if they do allow Zerg players. ;)

EDIT: Since U-238 seemed confused about this, I'd just like to say that just because I'm a part of the TL does not mean I won't be playing as Z for the official tournies. I just want to practice my T without the problems of going through pubby games. That's all.

Yes, thank you for bringing that up, U-238. You can be "in the Legion" and not participate in tournaments/'wars'. When we are organizing a war, before it starts we will designate who is on what force.

Don't come to me when you know a tournament is coming and want to participate. I will come to you, and I will make sure everyone has an equal opportunity in each war. If you're not chosen for our first tourney, don't worry. You'll be in the next one.

*cough cough* lol... In time you'll learn it'll take more than working some techniques to beat experienced players... The reason for this is, that since your experience isn't really... huge or anything, you don't know all the stuff about sc that are required to create effective techniques. By your amount of sc experience, you'll just get flawed techniques that are easy to counter or not very effective. The best way to even out the odds would be to watch replays of progamers and gosus and learn buildorders and techniques from those.

Yea I had been toying around with the idea of a zerg "swarm". However since it's so unbalanced atm I'm not sure if I should implement that yet. As for a Protoss one... hmm Jays is the only one who play's P.

Dark Mirror, skill at commanding your units better than the 'other guy' is part of any military strategy. Don't worry about rank, or no rank -- worry about improving your gameplay, which all of us will be doing at the same time. And we will help one another, which is the whole point of the Legion to begin with.

The legion has suffered a crushing blow today as the protoss and the zerg swarm have defeated our leader...veeger...(u can blame me for the swarm part..blame nw.lost for the toss)...but alas he has escaped and lives to fight another day for he is not defeated... right now i cannot stay any longer but when i return i expect all of you to help each other and to see that such things won't happen often in the future...i for one am going to help veeger improve his skills(and the first thing i say to you: Don't build so much static defense...) and i hope all other members of the legion will do that... not just help our leader but help each other... That is all for now...

My defeats today hardly count as Legion defeats -- they were my first two games against human opponents. :) I've always been a defensive player, in every game I play. I will have to adjust to a more offensive style of gameplay.

Speaking of something completely different...I've seen reps where mutas are stacked, and it seemed very effective for harrass. The same post also said you need x mutas (think it was 7) to kill an SCV in one blow.
Ie, to make that kind of harrass effective, you'd need 7 mutas atleast to do it, and you'd stack them.

I'm wondering if the same thing can be done with wraiths? I assume stacking is easiest by selecting them and right-clicking on something, like a mineral patch? Can that be done with wraiths too? And how many wraiths would be needed to kill off an SCV in one blow? Or probe/drone (I know SCV's have 60 HP, and are most resistant, but how about probes and drones..how do they compare? Drone has 40 HP, no armor...probe has 20 shield, 20 HP...but shields take full damage from all kinds of attacks, right? SOMEONE GET HERE WITH AN SC CALCULATOR ASAP!)

Wriaths would work I suppose but vults a cheaper and I don't think wraiths stack as readily. Also most muta stacking is done nowadays by grouping an overlord with the mutas. This keeps them stacked really well.

Well, that's absolutely not what I was asking.
And they do less damage to ground. THey do more than twice the damage to air.
And I'm not asking because I want to use it as my #1 strategy. I was just wondering if it could be used to harrass in the same way.

wraiths good for harrassing. I dunno how to stack them, but just ff on workers, and cloak when aa arives Oviosly wont work if detectors are around:P

Just click on a mineral patch repeatedly, or click on one wraith in the pile repeatedly. They'll end up stacked to some degree or other.

But you're better off getting a tank or saving for a vessel (depending on MU) with that gas.

Basicly it's the terran division of the warboards clan. We made up some lighthearted fun and are bringing up some friendly competitivness among clan members. Basicly all the terran members play against the zerg members and have a freindly competition to try and get bragging rights over which race dominates the warboards clan. Vegeer is also trying to make up some sorta storyline with it to. We were planning to do a protoss area too but there arn't enough P players in the warboards clan so it's not feasible.

I'm pretty sure the first few ladder seasons were won by toss. It was toss vs. toss in the finals. I forget who won, but it was because he abused shuttle/reaver before reavers were given a cool-down period after being unloaded. Basically, the dude was so fast, you couldn't even see his reaver and it looked like the shuttle was firing scarabs.

I did some computer work a few weeks ago, switched around the RAM sticks I currently own, putting my two 258 MB sticks into my 'gaming' computer to put in my room, and leaving the 64 MB stick in the family computer. Silly me for thinking that would be enough (lol). It took 10 minutes (I timed it, 10:23) to download CNN.com. Yeah . . .

My sister was holding out on me, however, and produced her old computer that she hasn't used in years now. A computer with a 128 stick of RAM inside its rusty inards.

So, I'm back online! When I start my new job and get my first big paycheck, I plan on buying more RAM to help out, but atm I have enough to at least be online and deal with stuff.

Also, big news! During the week if you wish to speak with me while I'm at work, go to the CWAL II site run by Ktan and a few other WB regulars. Please, please come! Most of the members are school kids, and as such I'm there alone for most of the day! But, it isn't blocked (yet) by the Plant filter, so I can get on. :-)

- All these development in non Z strategy was all for nothing as blizzard decided to change ladder maps to the nightmare that is "The Gauntlet" and other similar maps. Muta battles were basically considered to be the only strategy on these maps. I remember that at one point the top 20or so ladder players were all Z. Korea which up until this point in time was considered as the land of zvz, start to dominate around this time. Fortunately classic ladder maps like LT, styx and rivalry were introduced back not long after BW.

- I don't remember too many things around the release of BW. As I recall, the top players during this period were Kali-oldschoolers (Pillars, Maynard, etc), grrr, zileas, soso, gadianton, and some time later Slayer. One thing I do remember though was the huge rant about TvP back then. DT, and the much better dragoons back then led many Terran players back to belive that the matchup was almost unwinnable. This inevitably led to the development of metal. As I recall the pioneer of metal was some player called busdriver or something in the foreign scene, and st.eagle in the korean scene. This development of metal by itself created one of the largest debate in the sc history between its avid followers and the top traditional terran players."

vZ: 4rine 2 bat 2 medic at expos seems to work pretty well, so long as you scan beforehand to make sure you don't land on lurks. Or, the classic turbo newbie 2tank at expo cliff.

vT: early game, 4goli works pretty well, and then we start seeing those massive drops (20+ units) later on, which seem mostly goli/tank. Tanks on cliff can also work well, if you can get some turrets there, too.

vP: 4 vults in main (mine gateways and pick off probes), or 2 tanks on expo cliff.

I think those are about the main ones.

So now he has a new fresh un-scratched copy of Broodwars. He is trying to get the campanies done first so he can remember what each unit does. So soon we all will beable to kick some zerg butt as a Terran Legion and we shall not show any mercy. That is all!

What happened is he was going to drop screen several times throughout the game, towards the end he was schooling kirby and then kirby dropped him the next chance he had. So he basically had two choices. Lose to kirby fair and square or get dropped by him when things were in his favor. It was a terribly disappointing game.

It was a PvP btw and here it is... need WGTlauncher to watch it though.

I got sucked back into the Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind Universe again, and found myself rarely coming here, and instead focusing all of my attention on Elder Scrolls Forums. I also ran into some severe financial problems during my month of unemployment -- but I have a good job, with an excellent pay, and soon I will begin to recieve an amazing profit-sharing bonus at the end of each month, which will greatly enhance my income.

By the end of February, I will be caught up on bills, I will have all of my utilities in my name instead of my grandfather's, and I (should) have a laptop with an Alltel Wireless PC card and wireless connection plan, basically giving me a connection as good, if not better, than DSL and the ability to connect anywhere in my city I wish.

Basically -- Molly and I were drowning for a while, but I see a light at the end of the tunnel. And that light is getting closer every day.

No, no one from the Legion was there last night, but I did manage to find op swbk on my own (thank God for Mat Geo and friend lists), and was able to get a few games in. I'm still getting killed mercilessly, but I am starting to improve. I was able to fend off a full assault my last game vs. Protoss.

well yeah its kinda true. atm I'm the only active member, there are some who are on time to time but thats about it. Warboards clan is dead and it'd take alot of effort to get it back working. You'd hafta wipe clean the whole team, advertise, create some times where people meet and play such as tourneys and all that. clanwars too. At the moment I'm way too busy with way too many projects and stuff going on I couldn't keep this clan alive for long and after I'd stop spending effort on this, which would happen soon, I'd lose my interest alltogether. Especially since its so hard to have people come in time. Also, many of the members the WB clan had now belong to other clans and forum teams such as shakuras.

SC: that's too bad about the clan. Having said that, there are plenty of active clans for us to play with. I don't see any reason for that to affect us.

Dark Mirror: I have many projects in mind for the Legion, I just haven't had any time to work on them due to worrying about financial issues. I'm about caught up now, so I hope to start them back up.

I have 2 single player campaigns involving the legion; the first based on the events that took place during the TL RP here on the OR forum, and a second involving a specialized team of Ghosts (which I believe I mentioned in the mod forum here a while back).

I also had a 16 map tournament planned between the Legion and the zerg members of the WB clan for domination of a planet. I was hoping to use this fictitious planet as the basis for our rivalry with the clan, but with the clan not active, apparently, we'll have to think of something else.

I'm still having trouble connecting through the computer with this thing, but by the end of next week I am going to be buying my sister's old laptop and an alltel pc card. I know I'll be able to get back in the game then.

I also had a 16 map tournament planned between the Legion and the zerg members of the WB clan for domination of a planet. I was hoping to use this fictitious planet as the basis for our rivalry with the clan, but with the clan not active, apparently, we'll have to think of something else.

It's not "active" however I think it could still work. It'd just be between the warboards members. However, with no more lammy, I fear the mighty Ahzz brood will overtake the legion.

Okay, test has proved to be positive. With the exception of a, "no brood war = no respect" comment from Ahzz (my bw is still in my cd case, but I had vanilla right here on the desk, so I used it for the test), everything worked well, and my connection is 10x as fast as my old dial up.

I can't play any right now, as I have to be at work soon, but have no fear! I will definitely return tonight (I get off at 11:00, EST) and see if I can get a game or two in.

Yeah, I know the feeling. I got stuck on Oblivion, then I found my old copy of Lords of the Realm II (best rts ever), and started playing through it again. All the while trying to make time to write my novel, live up to my promise to help a member of the elder scrolls forum create a "spy network" mod for Morrowind, and fighting requests to make a sc mod.
