Recently, I've started getting more money, and I decided that I want to get a new computer game. Does anyone know if the origonal Diablo is still available in stores aside from in the battle chest? Also, does anyone know of a demo of it I might be able to download so I know what I'd be getting for my money?

But there is a demo for download: http://www.blizzard.com/diablo/
Go to the bottom of the page. Then click on PC DEMO or MAC DEMO. Then there opens a screen with download sites. Not all of these links work (some can't find the page, for one of them you have to register with some download web-site,...). I actually found just one link that worked...Just search a few minutes for a good link.
The one that is the blizzard ftp is usually good..
Nope, only way I know of is to purchase the battle chest. You might find a PSX version of the game in a video game store or something...
But for the PC I doubt youll find just itself for sale (it would be like $5)

Glad to here it, but will you have time for both of those games? It is something that really should be thought of cause you never know. You might get addicted to one, then never play the other, then thats a wasted 40-50 buxX.
</sarcasm>
On topic though, the Diablo battlechest is fairly cheap compared to most games, probably because it's so old. And there's no online fees, so you can play it forever and never pay again. Like me, been playing for 2 years, best 35 bucks I ever spent. Now I sound like an infomercial...

Ok, opinion of people who've played both: Which is better, Diablo or Warcraft?

I've played both StarCraft and Warcraft 3 a little, and Diablo 2 (Expansion) a lot. Diablo has a lot of strategy involved (I've played probably around 20-25 characters, most of them really weird builds, and I still have lots of possibilities for the future). I've completely forgotten the storyline of Diablo now, it's just building my character. But if you play multi War3, the storyline doesn't matter much either. Replay value of Diablo is high (lots and lots of different character builds), War3 is along the lines of StarCraft for replay, maybe a little more because of the fourth race. I play Diablo much more than both Star and War3 now, but RTS isn't really my kind of game. I like planning out the characters, and trying to figure out how different skills work together.
Your a StarCraft player though (I assume) so maybe RTS is your thing. Or maybe you already have a RTS and WarCraft would be too close.
Your choice.

Diablo is better than WarCraft III in every way, at least to me. I was really disapointed by WCIII, but "yo soy lovin" Diablo II.
D2 is fun and all, but War3 has that "new feeling" to it. Plus its fun seeing D2 items in War3, and characters/units obviously designed with D2 stuff in mind...
War3 is just kickass for Campaign type stuff -- I mean its awesome. Soe people get into the Multiplayer, I didnt, but I loved the Multiplayer UMS games, they were so fun, the way people did things is just... amazing.
But D2 is fun as well, so many different character builds and stuff.

I think you can still buy Diablo 1 at Best Buy becuase i see it there all the time, it's only $9.99, too. But perhaps the Best Buy i go to is just out dated, it really wouldn't surprize me. :p

well, Starcraft doesnt have items, and I wasnt asking if you can get them in multiplayer, I was wondering 1. what is mp like, and 2. Can you get items, in any form of the game.

Multiplayer is much like single player with they exception your always playing online (by mp i assume you mean battle.net). Your character is stored on the battle.net servers, and you access them through your account. You can play by yourself even when your on battle.net, by making a passworded game, or you can play with other by joining or making public games, or making passworded games and sharing the password with friends. When playing with others (generally) you party together and quest/kill things together. Advantages of mp are you don't have to rely on your own build to kill everything, and experience and item drops scale with more people in the game.
One of the big things in the game is finding and trading for equipment. All of the equipment you can wear, and charms that you can hold in your inventory, affect your stats and skills. They can have everything from elemental resistances to faster running speed to increased attack speed. Magic and rare items, "roll" these bonuses randomly for items, so there is some luck for finding the perfect rare item. Unique and set items have predetermined "mods", and a specific name to identify them, like "Bonecrusher" or "Tal Rasha's Guardianship". Also, wearing more items of the same set give you extra bonuses, which would make you want to invest in a whole set. This adds a lot of room for customization of characters.
