With a fresh forum like this, it's best to start out with the basic stuff. So I ask you all...
What's your favorite race?

For me, Terrans. Mainly because they resemble us. In fact, in all (or most) games with different species, I pick the humans. I wonder why :/.

I never really played SC much, I couldn't really get into it really, though I did like playing as the Protoss when I did play it.

I play Terran, but my FAVORITE race is zerg... All the abilities are so useful. Ensnare gets rid of cloak, Plague helps take out BC's fast with groups of hydras, Dark Swarm protects ultras while they obliterate the giant line of cannons near the entry to your friend's base... Yea, it's great...

I find Zerg the most interesting, being a race controlled by a single "Overmind" that drives them to assimilate other creatures into their race. Lately I seem to be having more success playing Protoss, but I really play all three races.

Yeah, I knew the ORG split and this forum was in the works. I have been growing increasingly sick of BlizzForums for quite a while now. Even if this forum hadn't been planned, I probably would've ended up fading from BlizzForums as I did. You're right, though, the whole "departed" thing and a couple of cryptic messages were left in reference to my decision to come here instead.

I like all races really, they all have their own cool abilitys and cool units, I find it hard to choose.

I love the Siege Tanks, but I also love Hydra's and Dark Templar.

I guess I'll just vote for Protoss because they have more options when it comes to strategy (in my opinoin, that is.).

Well i like humans but I'm not an Xpert at them.I like protss bcause Ez to set up defence, just go out there and warp them in.I did like zerg but I need to know whats the best thing for zerg. usualy i get like 12 mutalisks and 12 devoures but now its ezier with protoss.

I like terrans most because they are a hybrid of the 2 races with more power. They have the cheapness of the zerg (infanary) and the power (nearly) of the toss (metal). The air is the best and most tactical. And you can have expandable troops. The can heal any unit and they hold the strongest defence structure. They hold the 4th strongest attack in the game and house the strongest power in the game (nuke). They exel at any postion defence, offence. And can snap back from defence to offence in a short time.

PROTOSS HAHA yea my favourite are protoss mainly arbiters for they can cloak any unit and can telel port ur unit anywhere and also the stasis shock haha really powerful i love it especially when unit are out numbering me i use statis shock and then get reinforcements and they go bye bye and also carriers rule with some scouts and dragoons and high templer own for 2 reason there spells and there archon meld i dont mind terrans either or zerg but protoss my fav rite now

For me I find playing the Zerg the easiest - grab the most amount of units you can to throw at the opposition and keep making reinforcements. The terran are indeed fun, but too much micro for me to manage, siege the tank, mine the area, Irradiate like crazy. I just prefer the Zerg I suppose.

I tend to have the most fun with Protoss and Zerg. With Protoss I enjoy rushing up the tech tree to get Dark Templar and Shuttles for a nice drop, rushing with hordes of Zealots, and... Well, those are my two favorite things to do. With Zerg it's fun to rush with just about anything. Hydralisks, Mutalisks, it's all good.

Terrans are ultimate. You could chose to manufacture a lot of marines fast, for quick attacks, or make powerful units such as siege tanks and bc's. Also, they are the only race in which you can do stealth attacks.

Yamato Gun, are you kidding that what 4 scourges are for and plus hydras can take a bc anytime. arbiters are better than wraiths because they can freeze and move a large amoun of troops WHILE cloaking them and wraiths..hmhmhm a hydra can match a wraith any time and while you have to pay for detectors ill have overlors which are cheap and expendible... lurkers do come under fire from sensor sweeps but usually if there not in a persons base they will just keep moving them around and besides if i got lurkers in your base within 7 mins you die game over...So really the terrans suck because they can be overpowered in the begining of the gamelater in the game they stand a chance but by that time people usually have carriers devours gardians bc and all that good stuff.

Zerg because I've mastered rushing with lings. All though in big maps and wait games I use the power of protoss. Then again a remote island bordered with two layers of turrets and a valkry wing against BCs, Carriers, and Guardians, enough turrets and you don't have to worry about drop attacks. Oh so confusing, so many good tactics. I'll stick to protoss simply cause they were my favourite in the SC campaigns.

When a zerg has 12 lings, a terran can have a few marines and several SCVs. SCVs have much more health then a ling and do just as much damage as marines; any player with good micro can kill 12 lings with SCVs and marines. This bit also depends on whether or not the zerg wants to fuck his economy over for this rush and win, or just mess up the terran early game.

When I listed the top players, I was listing several that are in the top 6 or so, the fact that four are terran shows that terran clearly dominates the pro gaming scene. Furthermore, just by way of common knowledge you can tell that pro gaming is dominated by terran if you just think of all the players you know off the top of your head (going by the assumption that if you aren't really into progaming, the ones you have heard of are probably top teir). I'll do that now:

Those are most of the top teir BW players (correct me if I'm wrong) I could think of off the top of my head. This clearly shows that most of them do, in fact, play Terran, thus proving that terran do not suck. In fact, you could probably find many people that would argue you that Terran is to overpowering with their siege tanks

And as for Terran being to defensive, I suppose that's an opinion, and it's got the potential to be right. Terran can be played very offensively though, just like any race.

im obsessed with the 'toss.

meh, they may be a bit expensive but they can hold thier own in a lot of situations.

they have shielding, which u can recharge with a battery which are relatively cheap.

u can cloak practically ur whole attack force with a few well placed arbiters (thus giving u the element of surprise).

the reaver drop is a tried and true method of quickly laying waste to an opponents resource flow.

this maybe a late-in-the-game advantage but the carriers are nigh unstoppable when combined with scouts and arbiters, with a few shuttles filled with reavers and dragoons.

thier high templars are incredible, escpesially when they have thier hallucination being used. and the archons, omg, they are a main staple of any 'toss force, powerful in both air and ground assaults, these juggernauts if living power lay waste to any enemy they come across.

overall, the 'toss are well rounded with each unit having many strengths in battle.

I started as a newbie, like all of us. I started interested in protoss. i never really liked their air units, so i would make zeals n stuff like that. When i became a little better I started getting a good mix of all the protoss ground units, and some air units. Whenever I played zerg, i usually died. so i thought I would try them. all of the sudden I was really good with them. I have a mix of about 5 differnt combinations i like to use. I love the spell plague. Plague the bunkers n come back a lil later and there blown up because people are usually to busy watching everything els, then boom. game over.

Definately the Zerg. I don't like wwatching my units die, and that's one of the things the Zerg must put up with, but I love animals and aliens. So the Zerg are ALIEN ANIMALS! They look the coolest too.

From a strategic standpoint, I love how cheap their units are, yet how powerful. The Hydralisk is one of the most versatile units in the game, and it costs far less than any other unit of its calibur (such as Goliaths or Dragoons).

Zerg kick ass. Their cheap soldiers and wide range of abilities make them my favorite race.

Zergs rule. Nothin' beats the sight of 160 hydralisks moving towards an enemy's base en masse.

Also, usually I can regenerate my units faster than my opponents can kill them, so I can constantly send reinforcements, and eventually the enemy's base will fall. Even if my 150+ hydralisks are destroyed, give me 1 and a half minutes and they're back for a second rush - before the enemy can finish repairing his/her base. It's also damn hard to nuke a zerg base... and zerg lurkers make for some excellent drone defenders because they can stay below the drones as they gather resources, so if any enemies were to try to sneak up on them they'll get sliced up in no time. If they send in air units? Well I'll spend a few seconds making an army of scourges and poof... they're gone.

I like Protoss beacause they're more heroic and can be outnumbered and still win, for example:
one zeolot can take out around 3 zerglings, if neither of them are upgraded.
Ive grown a liking to Zerg, they are the only race that can have 400 units at one time (Zerglings).
Protoss are cool beacause they are all so powerful. 400 Zerglings vs 100 Zeolots would be fun to watch.

I like them because they sound foney and da Zerglin are cute.

And they're all biological. That means zip pollution and tons of fertilizer for Char's soil.

And because they have sweet units. I like running around with 36 Hydralisks. They're cheap, attack fast, attack hard, and they can turn into Lurkers, which are really fun with a rush, especially against Terrans.

I have to agree with whoever it was that said that Protoss on anything else than a money map get owned by 'ling rush. However, I've been attacked by rushing lings before and with a few zealots(3-4), 7-8 lings only slightly damaged a couple of them. Protoss just rule. Having to fight through a shield EVERY SINGLE time you fight a Protoss HAS to get annoying.

Well, I would like to vote for all, yet I can not.

I tink each race is balanced with their own strenth's and weaknesses. There is no race better than the other, or else everyone would have massed to that race and it would get pretty boring pretty fast (TvT... oh man -snores-)

Zergling = 1337 economy
Terran = 1337 scouting
Protoss = Power House

Zerg = Weak early game
Terran = Slow expand (IMO)
Protoss = Gas giant

I can't really favor one race, as I have had my moment with each race.
