View Full Version : Live Diplomacy Frequency

Since it seems like this Live Diplomacy went fairly decent (although we're going to be speeding things up on the GM side by making it more automatic for future ones), I want to know how often people want a game of Live Diplomacy. I'm pretty sure most future ones would be in the fri - sun mark, since most people can make it then, although it should be flexible.

Cast your votes for frequency.

I voted for three weeks, but I wouldn't mind, so long as we have them at least once a month.

Once a month. SO four weeks man. I missed out on this one but it sounded awesome I gotta get in the next ones.

I'd say once a month as well. Sorry I missed the last one, but maybe I'll be able to play next time.

Whiteknight, I think you put too many choices on the poll. The spread is so diverse, I'm not sure we can get a good reading off of it. =p

Perhaps, but then I would have put it at half month, month, two month, etc, which is basically what it's split at now. I was also hoping to have a few more people vote, but it seems like many have ignored this thread.

I'd prefer it to be once every month or so at this stage. Reason being I've finally mustered some people together from school who actually seem to be keen on diplomacy. Cool, huh?

Every month. And I wouldn't mind a game or two in the forums in the meantime, as well <hint>.

So what happened to this idea?
Someone get on this shit ASAP please. :)

Alright, alright. So I'll restart my little pet project.

I just spent the last half hour or so messing around in the #orgnetwork channel, tweaking a simple little Python bot script that I gleaned off of O'Reilly. After a bit of searching, I found the documentation for the raw commands that the enterthegame.com server uses. With this information, I should be able to build a nice little irc bot.

Over the summer, WK stumbled upon a feature-complete (as far as I have tested) diplo judge written in Python. I began converting some of the tools that came with it (map maker, power assigner) to Python, as they were in other languages. School began, and the project largely died.

Seeing that the judge itself works, I plan to utilize at least part of Winter break to creating an IRC interface to the judge. It probably won't be ready for hosting a game for some time, but I will definitely be needing testers. I'll post more updates, and probably a thread, as I actually get underway. One more final to go before I can ease up on the classes.

Oh you know I'm down to be a tester.

As I said in IRC Modred that's pretty kickass. I didn't know some IRC bots were written in Python. Haha, that's what we're doing our stuff in right now (1st Year Computer Science). If you need some help I could attempt to try :>.

And you know I'm down for Live Diplo.
