Ok, I was online playing some team melee and team ctf, and i was wondering how i could get such templates on a mod, or map of my own? I open up the "broodat" and found 3 ver small size teem melee templates, the question is, how can i harvest these template things, into something i can work with, and put itno a mod? Basicly, I want to know how i can put the "team melee's" effect, of having a set number of peple all one one team, into other maps, like a ums map or something?

If you mean make a Team Melee map, or a mod, then I have no clue.

It's possible to do it with a mod. I have a mod on my computer that does it, but it needs to be upgraded to work with 1.11.

This text file explains to the best of my current understanding how to play a team melee StarCraft game with a use settings map.
----------
Background
----------
I began this task several days ago, because of an intense need to be able to play a team melee game with a special map my organization designed to teach airpower tactics to students . I contact ed one of our technical POC's at Blizzard and asked about the possibility of designing this option into an upcoming patch. Our POC stated that their programmers where greatly involved in current projects and would not be able to get to it right away, if at all, but they would put it into the consideration pile.
Undetered, I spent several hours researching on the internet to see if anyone else had found a way to make this work. I was disappointed with the results, no one knew how to do it, and I was even told that it was not possible to do this.
At this point I realized I would have to do the work myself. My research had led me one place in particular that seemed promising. It discussed the ".got" files inside the "StarDat.mpq" file. These ".got" files contain the information on the settings used when StarCraft begins a game. I decided to attempt to merge the "Use Map Settings(1).got" file with the "Team Melee(1).got" file. After several hours of attempts I was sucessful, and made it work.
I've done a small amount of testing on our organizations starcraft map with three people logged into the game (2 people on 1 team, 1 on the other) and it worked flawlessly.
-----------
Limitations
-----------
1. You cannot play against a computer opponent. The option will not show up in the drop down list when you start a game.
2. You must be careful to set up the map properly (See Playing Section below)
------------------------------------------
Playing a Team Melee with Map Setting Game
------------------------------------------
1. You will first need to design a Starcraft map using Staredit.
Here are a couple of items you will need to remember when setting up the map:
For a 2 team melee:
Red must be in Force 1
Blue must be in Force 2
For a 3 team melee:
Red must be in Force 1
Blue must be in Force 2
Teal must be in Force 3
For a 4 team melee:
Red must be in Force 1
Blue must be in Force 2
Teal must be in Force 3
Purple must be in Force 4
The other color players can be distributed as you wish.
Players can be computer, human, or neutral, as in normal use map settings games. If you plan on having 4 people connecting to a game, you must have 4 human players extablished on map. In other words, the number of human players on the map is the maximum amount of people that can join the game.
2. Once the map is set up, you will need to run the Team Melee.exe file included in this zip file. I have include the Team Melee CWAD also for those interested in looking at what I've changed. Select OK to bypass the information screen and double-click the StarCraft Icon. (Note: Every player on each team must the team melee.exe file in order to play)
3. Once Starcraft is up and going, began a multiplayer game as usual. When you get to the point where you will be chosing the type of game to play, select "Team Melee w/ Map Settings" (This new option takes the place of the normal "Team Melee" option), then choose the number of teams that will be playing.
4 Once the game is started you can have the other players join in.
Note: Force 1 will always play as red
Force 2 will always play as blue
Force 3 will always play as teal
Force 4 will always play as purple
5 Once all players have joined, have them click on the force that they wish to be apart of.
6 Click start to begin the game.
7. Have fun!

There is a CWD that has all the files needed to do exactly what Owen explained, it can be downloaded from somewhere, if you want I can try to find the link to it for you.

CWADs are what were used before MPQs became fashionable in '02. They act the same way as MPQs, just not compatible anymore.
BTW, if you don't know what program opens a CWAD it's StarDraft.

Isn't it possible to compile a CWAD into MPQ format?
StealthyDeath

Yes you can with EXE2MPQ, but the CWAD has to be self executing and not in it's .cwd format.

It's still hosted on most of the older sites(e.g. www.starcraft.org, www.campaigncreations.org).
StarDraft's patch loader no longer works, but everything else does like the built-in GRP Editor, Arsenal II, and MPQ Extractor.

Uh, Rhino? We have a bit of a problem. It's called, "Stardraft is a complete peice of shit". I swear to god, it is the most horrible, and evil program in existence, (next to icecc anyways). It wont let me load ANY cwads into it, and whenever i try to click ok, it just reads off like 3 different errors, then says "you may see malfunctions." The proggram doesnt do a damn thing! Whats going on?
it says stuff like: "PatchOpenFileEx()Fail", then "PatchCloseFile()failed",
"PatchGetFileSize()failed, ERROR: STORM.DLL version not supported! You may see malfunctions.
Nothing is wrong with my damn storm.dll. It works fine with every other custom there is, why is stardraft such a lame-ass program that i want to kill whoever made it?
:smash: Smashy the evil stardraft! :smash: Smashy it good!!!! :smash:

That happened to me. Before I got BroodWar. Do you have BroodWar?

maybe thats because stardraft doesnt work for versions above 1.07?

Listen to Nahotnoj, he knows. Storm.dll 1.11 naturally is too different from 1.07/1.08 so that's why it's getting those error messages.
When you open StarDraft, select the 'CWAD Manager' not the 'Patch Loader'
When you're in the CWAD Manager, just go File > Open, then open up the CWAD, select all the files listed in the CWAD, navigate the left pane to the location where you want to extract the files, and then drag from the right pane to the left pane and the files will be extracted. Does that help?
