I was hoping Modred's Battle for Osiron might pick up again, but I think we have lost, irrepairably, one of the lances, so alas -- we must start anew.

Here, in the introduction, I'm going to give a short history of the Clans, because surprisingly few people really know what is going on with them, and then I'll take a moment to describe the scenario for this RP. I'm going to assume that most people who are interested have at least a vague idea of Battletech history (ie: Star League, Succession Wars, Clan Invasion, etc.), if you don't just PM me and I'll be happy to enlighten you.

The Clans are of two opinions regarding the invasion. The Crusaders believe that the Inner Sphere should be completely overtaken, and forced to accept a new Star League, and that the denizens of the Inner Sphere are too immature to do this on their own. The Wardens believe that the Inner Sphere should be protected, even from itself from time to time, until they mature on their own, and create the Star League of their own volition.

Clan Jade Falcon is Crusader -- they have an intense desire to reclaim the whole of the Inner Sphere, and reform it to the Clan way of life.

Clan Wolf is mostly Warden -- they believe in defending and protecting the Inner Sphere until it matures.

As an insult, the Clan Wolf Khan (leader of the Clan) was selected as the IlKhan (leader of the invasion), but he was killed during a kamikaze three months into the invasion. This caused a one year halt as the Khans all retreated back to the Clan homeworld to select a new IlKhan (as tradition dictated).

During that year of rest, a second Star League was, in fact, formed. The new Clan Wolf Khan was, again, selected to be IlKhan, and not long after the invasion was restarted, the leader of Comstar (the religious group who have a monopoly on the HPG communication arrays that allow Interplanetary communication) came to the IlKhan and offered a duel. Comstar forces and Clan forces would clash on the planet of Tukyyad, and if the Clans won, Comstar would give them Terra. If they lost, they had to stop the invasion for 15 years.

Long story short, they lost -- but Clan Jade Falcon felt that Clan Wolf had betrayed Clan principles by making a deal with IS forces, and initiated a Trial of Refusal. Clan Wolf used this as an excuse to fully invade Jade Falcon space, and after a few months of terrible battle, Jade Falcon emerged victorious.

Clan Wolf Khan died during the Refusal War, and his two lieutenants both took extremely brash actions. Phelan Ward took over half of Clan Wolf forces into the Inner Sphere, and into wilfull exile (Wolves-in-Exile) to defend the Inner Sphere from the next invasion.

Clan Wolves-in-Exile claimed Arc-Royal as their new home, and have spent the last ten years setting up what is known as the Arc-Royal Defense Corridor, preparing IS defenses along the Clan Jade Falcon border for when the invasion recommences.

After the plan with Clan Wolf is brought to light in the Inner Sphere, Comstar splinters into two groups, Comstar, who believe that what has been done in the past is fine, and Word of Blake, who feel that those now in power are corrupt, and have betrayed the original faith as laid out by Jerome Blake back during the Star League era.

The Word of Blake left for the Periphery (the outer rim of planets), they built their strength, then launched the "Jihad" against the Inner Sphere, culminating in them resting control of Terra and its surrounding planets away from Comstar.

Okay, now for the story.

Desert's Fangs is my (personal) Wolves-in-Exile mercenary unit that I play with at home. They are a mercenary unit, but they are all Wolves-in-Exile clansmen, and perform contracts solely for the Wolves-in-Exile, helping prepare and defend planets along the JF border.

Their first mission was to save Phalen Ward's freebirth son (if you don't know what Freebirth is, I'll explain it later) who had been kidnapped by a Word of Blake fringe group, demanding that Wolves-in-Exile give up control of the Arc-Royal Defense Corridor to Word of Blake forces.

After he was successfully saved, Word of Blake began to assault factories up and down the Defense Corridor, and Desert's Fangs was sent to defend Graus (I will provide star maps tomorrow). It is now three months after Desert's Fangs was contracted to protect the two factories located on Graus, and they are finishing up fending off a WoB attack upon a factory just South of the capital city, a distress signal is broadcast from the city itself.

Their defenses are being overrun by a Clan Jade Falcon assault team.

Okay, there are four distinct forces present in this RP -- Clan Wolves-in-Exile, the Desert's Fangs, Clan Jade Falcon, and Word of Blake. My plan is to have one "sub" GM for each force, and anyone who wants to join can decide which force they want to play with.

Do not ask to be a commander -- I will PM you if I want you to do so.

Desert's Fangs: Veeger
Clan Wolves-in-Exile: Gordomay
Clan Jade Falcon: Ragnarox
Word of Blake: [Pending Response]

Again, anyone who wishes to join can do so and choose any force they wish -- all I ask is that we try to keep things even. If Clan Jade Falcon has 6 players, and Word of Blake only has 2, I would rather have the next person to join to help Word of Blake out. If the number of players are relatively even (within 2 away from one another), then pick any. If you're not sure, just PM me, I'll tell you where I feel you could best be used.

LOL -- Tanis pointed out my lack of character sheet.

'Mech: For your 'Mechs, I am going to be a prick, and require you to select only Classic Battletech Canonized Battlemech specifications. For a full list, click here (http://solaris7.com/Armory/ArmoryList.asp?A=TRO). Clan Jade Falcon is limited to Clan technology 'Mechs (TRO 3050 and later), WoB is restricted to Inner Sphere technology 'Mechs.

Wolves-in-Exile is in an interesting situation, being isolated from the Clan Occupation Zones, and still not fully trusted by everyone in the Inner Sphere, they have a limited selection of 'Mechs from both technologies. If you want to be in the Wolves-in-Exile, you will have to PM me, as I will have a pre-selected number of 'Mechs available.

If you wish to be in the Desert's Fangs, PM me first as well. They have a limited number of slots.

EDIT: Character sheet ready!

Name: Threser Pryde (Star Colonel)

Affiliation: Jade Falcon Clan

Biography: A Clan Jade Falcon "Truebirth" warrior, Threser was born of some of the best genetic stock available. Incidently, one of these genetic codes happened to be a confirmed bloodline of one of the Founding 800. Naturally this bloodrite has been challenged by many and besides from passing The Blooding and Trial of Position, Threser has won over 17 Trials of Bloodrite and 22 Trials of Grievance. Over 79 military operations fill his record, all but one of which were victories. This has hardened Threser into a noteworthy commander which is why he was chosen to lead the first expeditionary force back into the Inner Sphere.

Tanis -- Elementals are cool with me. Check with Ragnarox first, however. He is your commanding officer.

I know many of you are waiting for me to finalize 'Mech decisions, and I apologize for my apparent tardiness on this matter. There are a hundred things going on at once over the next couple of weeks, but I promise I will get to this soon. Maybe tomorrow, if not certainly Friday.

Name: Carson Permer
Affiliation: Desert's Fangs
Biography: Permer is a former IS battlemech pilot. The merc was originally from a New Star Leuge unit that was in the process of recapturing a planet. He was assigned a bushwacker and was part of the frontlines.

Then, the whole "Kill the colaborater" mess came about and he couldn't stomach doing that. He, and his battalion, was to destroy a village suspected of supporting the clanners. Went AWOL with his mech and dissapeared on the nearest outbound jumpship. Several months later he was killing more clanners on the front as a freelance merc. Civil war came about, but his contract was with the Stienies. Couldn't stomach the orders that amounted to nothing more than mass genocide, and left. Ended up with the desert fangs. Carson wishes to forget his former affiliations, and is pained whenever he is forced to talk about it.

Mech: A Bushwacker, retrofitted with Clan technology. Nothing more.

I'm thinking Osiron is dead, as well. I'd like to join up with this, but I don't know for certain how much time I'll have. I'll let you know in about two weeks, but go ahead and start without me if that's possible. Also, your history on Word of Blake is a bit off, at least based on what I know of them. ;)

Hello, I was wondering if you had space for one more game girl to RP.
As far as experience with this stuff, I had a nova cat toy when I was a kid and beat both Mechassault games. Therefore I'm really only farmiliar with the word of Blake.

Im very confused as far as what mech i can pick and where to find it's stats. I wanted a raptor or a raptor II which are in the mechassault games and are medium units that are fast and have the ability to visually cloak. not sure if thats ok or not...

I believe Veeger set up a link to Solaris 7 Battletech info. We must comply to the stats of what Solaris 7 presents for all war machines.

I wanted a raptor or a raptor II which are in the mechassault games and are medium units that are fast and have the ability to visually cloak.

All below information has been gathered from Solaris 7:

The Micro Raptor (Raptor I) is a Clan Diamond Shark mech for clan use only. It does not possess the ability to visibly cloak.

The Raptor II RTX-90DG is available to multiple factions including Comstar. It is an IS mech and can be used by Word Of Blake. It is a light omni mech with multiple different weapons configurations. However, it does not possess the ability to visibly cloak although it does have an ECM.

The Raptor LAM RPT-1RX is an experimental mixed Inner Sphere-Clan tech omni-mech in the medium weight class. It comes with some serious firepower about it (Four rocket launchers and two ER Large Lasers WAAAGH!). However, it possesses no ECM and cannot visibly cloak.

The Raptor RXT1-0 is an Inner Sphere omni-mech in the light class that is only available to Comstar. It is built around a massive modular weapons bay similar to that of the Vulture (only more so). It does not possess the ability to visibly cloak and cannot mount an ECM.

The Sphinx Raptor Omni is a clan omni-mech that is a quad design. It is not available to the Inner Sphere and does not possess the ability to cloak.

Thats the whole raptor series according to Solaris 7. No visible cloaking on those but I'm sure if you, Luna, look hard enough you might find a mech that does.

AHHHHH! In the games the Raptor can cloak.... I guess the games aren't cannon then... and they look nothing like the ones on the site that was given:

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h114/Revalyn/Raptor.jpg

If not, then I think Ill go with either the "Rebel" XX-1X mech or the ARK raven MMW-01

Real sorry for not getting this finished earlier...been busy with my own RP site. Well, here it is.

Name: Ter Pryde
Affiliation: Clan Jade Falcon
Biography: As a Blood Named Clan warrior of Jade Falcon, Ter is a Trueborn Clanner. He was created with the genes of some of the Clan's best Elemental Armoured Infatry to breed and excellent warrior for the Clan's Elemental force. Ter spent his early years with his Sibco, as do all Trueborn, learned how to operate and repair their suits of Powered Armor. After finishing his Trial of Position and earning the rank of Star Commander, Ter was thrown right into the battlefield against rival Clans and the Inner Sphere alike. It was not long before the Trial of Bloodright for the Bloodname of Pryde was on, and it was relatively easy for Ter to win the endorsment of another Elemental. Through many tough battles, he won his Bloodname and now stands as one of the greatest Elementals in Clan Space. The coming fight is to be his first engagement with hid Bloodname.

Ah! Interest, at last!!

Luna, you know me better than to think I would say no to you! Just pick an affiliation and a 'Mech to fit, and you're in.

Tomorrow I should have time to figure out what 'Mechs are available to both WiE and the Fangs themselves. There aren't cannon rules for either 'Mech selections, so the ones I pick will be my choosing.

Do not assume that video game experience will help you in this RP. I am a Classic Battletech gamer, and have been for 10 years. The video games are fun, but they do not compare to the Classic game itself. For more information, click here ("http://classicbattletech.com)
