Who here listens to Paul Oakenfold? What do you think of him?

Man, i was just over watching his videos at aol.com, and i was a bit disillusioned. I mean, his music sounds all deep and stuff...but when you see the videos, it's all icky and pointless.

Faster kill pussycat- is it just me, or does this video give off a gay vibe? Not to be insulting, but i was all thinking when i saw it "is this about gay people"?

Starry-eyed surprise- on the cd, this song is fairly pleasant and quite a bit deep. A fun refresher. But the video was pretty stupid and pointless. Like it was just a commercial for Paul, or something.

Hypnotized- This song, on the video was much different than what's on the cds (i have two different versions of this song). It was a fun background mix, but the lyrics were pointlessly diced up. As for the image itself, it goes between a weird, sci-fi female and images from one of Paul's trips to China. It's like two storylines in a book with no connection between them. And neither storyline had anything to do with the song itself. It was like seeing two tv shows and hearing the sound for another channel all at the same time.

On an unrelated topic, I think warboards should have it's own techno music club, where we talk about techno and stuff.

According to yr description of the videos: good thing i haven't seen any! I like to listen to his music from time to time, it really goes deep... But eventually i switched to drum and bass, i just love the fast rhythm

I have a good bit of his music. I like most of it... but it's just sort of mainstream stuff. Popular, and I hear it a lot. I've only seen one music video... and I'm not really much for them anyway.

Overall he's okay. There's better, though.

Average at best as far as trance music goes. I haven't listened to much of his new stuff, but with the older stuff, I would always be extremely disapointed with how he would "drop the beat." Like, if you take Paul Van Dyk, DJ Tiesto or Seb Fontaine, when they do a build-up, they drop the beat hard, and everyone in the club goes crazy, but when Oakey drops the beat...hell, you can't even call it dropping, more like gradually transitioning back to the beat, it's just a let-down and leaves me standing there thinking, "wtf was that lame shit." Then I usually go get a drink or something, but I'm definetly not dancing at that point :/

If you don't like the videos, just don't watch them. You can still listen to his music (surprise). I like his stuff but it's not the best I've ever heard.

I enjoy Paul okenfolds music. I litterly get sucked into it like the killers song: Jenny was a friend of mine."

I agree with your comment about Faster Kill Pussycat. It does give off a strange vibe. not necissarly gay, but something wierder.
