New Strategy???

I was doing a T v T fight against a pro on battle.net. He had a really good record ( 123-13 or something). I sent a few cloaked wriaths to his base to cause distruction, and, strangely enoungh, he started nuking his own base!!! The weird thing is that he was nuking nowhere near my cloaked wriaths, which where attacking a small group of turrets (which means he knew where i was).

Is this a new stradegy or something???

Nuking oneslef to baffle your opponent is the most recent effective strategy from the Korean Starleagues. It started off as a joke startegy from SlayerS_`BoxeR`but it proved effective. One who nukes himself manages to confuse his opponent enough to take out all of his expnasions before he can do anything about it. The psychological effects of being nuked, even though StarCraft is just a game, are enournous. The opponent realized he could lose his army at any moment. He withdrew his army and contained himself in his base out of fear. Nuking yourself is really gosu uber 1337 pro and I'm sure that this person you played against knew exactly what he was doing because he obviously follows the latest strategies from Korea. Unfortunately for him he obviously didn't expect the Wraiths to cloak and therefore had to guess at their location. He guessed wrong and caused damage only to himself. because of that, the correct psycholigcal effect to immoblizie you failed to take hold and you managed to beat him easily.

The idea is that you go for the Super 4 Pool Nuke Rush. Unlike the conventinal Nuke Rush that can get you to Nuclear technology in about 9 minutes, you get Nukes by the four minute mark. You manage to get Nukes before they have enough of a force to attack you so you get the upper hand and should be able to force contain them by shattering their concept of reality via the nuking of onself. This build order./strategy is in league with the 3 Pool Zerg Rush in which you kill off one of your Drones before mining so you have enough supply to produce more Zerglings early on giving you an exponentionally larger advantage than the 4 Pool provides.

I can actually see killing off the drone after the first 6 lings are done, since that would in fact make it possible to get 12 lings into their base fairly early instead of 10. Who knows, it could make a difference.

he had us all there lol. anyways, im pretty sure that 3 pool would be even more suicide than the already suicidal 4 pool. any middy, by the time you get the 12 lings, dont you think your opponent will have adequite defenses? i mean, 3 workers take in mins awfully slow

No no, you would harvest with 4 til pool was done and first 6 lings were just started. Scout with one drone and harass if you find them. Even if you don't, you can cross off one main from the list, and if they're zerg, you can even offensive-sunken them.

Not unless you put your probes around it, at least. JulyZerg had a great replay of him stopping 8 zealots with 4 drones and 2 sunkens.

Dang. All pros have superior micro with great/excelllent macro. But then your probs would get killed pretty quick, or if there are any structures out of cannon range wouldnt the lings target it? Then probes would come over and the whole thing would repeat.

Perhaps it would be better to 4 Pool and attack with your Drones at the same time you attack with the Zerglings. I have two replays on my laptop where people rushed with their first 4 Drones and with sexy micro one managed to force the game into Zerglings versus desperate Marines while the other managed to kill the other guy's SCVs with his Drones and only used Zerglings at the very end when he didn't really need them.

I'm going to play three games. One where I 3 Pool, one where I 4 Pool but kill a Drone so I can have an extra 2 Zerglings, and one where I 4 Pool and send everything at once. Keep in mind that Zerg is my worst race, I haven't played it at all since I started trying to learn PvT which was months ago, and I only played it before then when i forgot to choose a race and Random gave me Zerg.

And S_C, if it was a 4pool, you're only likely to have a pylon+gate/forge. Unless you're a total idiot in building placement, placing a cannon that covers all of your buildings isn't too hard.

I did what MG suggested. Killed my 4th Drone once I had the resources to max out my 9 supply with Zerglings. ZvT = pwn. I'm not used to now having PP though so I forgot to save the replay. T_T The guy was a total newb though anyways.

normally, woudnt half your base be gone too? and middy is right. normally ppl shoudnt have more than 2 silos that are loaded. thats 16 supply gone, as well as 400/400resources

It's like manner Pylon except with a Supply Depot. XD The guy made a Supply Depot and his SCV got stuck between the minerals and depot. I'm assuming he did it on accident out of desperation because he was getting pwned by the Drones.

Depending on where the SCVs are it's possible to trap 4 if they all mine 4 separate minerals from that one area. Usually you get about two.. There's no other SCVs in that picture because I did it quickly with SCXE, it's not an authentic in game picture but it gets the idea across. :P

In the replay on Ride of the valkyries, you'll see the Terran guy at one point gets an SCV trapped between minerals and a Supply Depot.
