Chat meeting for Warboards?

Alrighty, ZeroDarkStar and I were talking a few seconds ago, about how WB is closely knit and such, but we still wonder, how much do you actually TALK to your fellow members in a chat? I think every week or so, we should hold a chat on MSN or AIM, and talk for an hour or so? How does that sound? I mean, we can designate a time, which messanger to use, we could alternate them, endless possibilities! What does the community say? If this idea sounds good to you, we can start talking up a time, and then get a specialized chat room for it! Of course, this is just an idea for now... If it doesn't work out, no worries. But other than that, how do you feel?

Everyone should download IRC, or some form of it, and you can just idle the channel to be sure and not miss anything ^_^

P.S. What is the program that lets you talk to people from MSN, AIM, and ICQ or w/e? I like sticking to MSN, everyone I know is on it... And I don't want two programs open at once all the time.

There is no program that lets you talk to another program, ex: msn talking to aim.
There is trillian which boots all messengers into one nice little window.

Anyway, for those who need IRC programs, if you use mozilla or mozilla firefox, I recommend you download the ChatZilla extension. Its a small download, about 200k, and adds the ability to use IRC from inside Firefox, thus not forcing you to have several programs open at once.

I did the 'connect' thing and I typed in the "Server:" area "irc.devcore.co.uk/warboards" but it said I was having problems connecting or whatever. If someone could explain to me how to do this that would be nice :D.

mIRC and Java applets are just a medium which people use to connect to IRC servers, just like Internet Explorer is a medium some people use to connect to WarBoards.

Anyway, the channel is now "permanent" in the sense that it is registered (hence no more lucky dip channel moderator status).

On top of the /server command I said before, here are some basic IRC commands to keep you happy:
Join a chat room:
/join #channel
Leave a chat room (part message is optional):
/part #channel (msg)
Quit IRC server (quit message optional):
/quit (msg)
Send a user a private message:
/msg user message
Ignore a user:
/ignore user!*@*

What some of the channel modes mean:
User is made a channel moderator
* sets mode +o user
User is removed from being a channel moderator
* sets mode -o user
User is voiced (can speak when room is moderated, +m)
* sets mode +v user
A ban on everyone matching username!ident@domain
* sets mode +b *!*@*somedomain.com

There's lots more, but that's a basic rundown to get you all started...

Uh, yea... You are having the exact same problem I'm having... Or rather, had. That's with mIRC, I believe, and the trick to it is, well, get Mozilla Firefox, and download the thing called 'Chatzilla,' and everything's good :)
