Starcraft: Genesis
Feel free to submit your character. The RP should start when we have enough people.
You may recall the storyline from Starcraft: New Beginnings (http://www.warboards.org/showthread.php?t=5608).
Introduction:
For countless years the turmoil raged on between Protoss, Zerg and Terran. Battles were won. Territory was claimed, reclaimed and then lost yet again. Morale began to faulter, renegade groups raged against the empire. Factions, sub-factions and yet smaller clusters of people broke off from races and the battles grew even more complicated. Everyone one would look, he would see death and destruction. He would see turmoil and pain.
Dr. Xavier St. Loueks had seen enough in his lifetime. It was time for the Terrans to start somewhere new; somewhere far away from this everlasting struggle between the races. Xavier took a group of his close friends, colleagues and family and boarded a single battlecruiser. The battlecruiser he and his group of scientists had been implementing light speed travel on. They had found the key, the last element and developed the universes first light speed core.
They new alternative means existed to fast travel, such as the Protoss warping and the Zergs space tunnels, but light speed suited their needs, and they had finally created it. The lone battlecruiser set off from their home planet with all the crew that worked on the technology and blinked out of existence.
The battlecruiser, named Reclamation, traveled countless lightyears from their homeplanets, from the war they left in their wake. After three years of traversing space, they found a habitable planet and after scans and tests it proved liveable and they would be the first sentients on the planet. A chance for true peace.
Base camp was established, and the 400 terran aboard Reclamation set about setting up their first town. Little thought was put into defense, aside from a small group of about 20 men who would keep the wildlife from causing havok. Luckily, very few large carnivores were found to inhabit the planet. Aside from the larger water creatures and a couple strains of felines, the only organism found to pose a large threat was that of a giant arachnid. The scanners had picked up traces of the beasts ringing in at over 2000 lbs, an 8 foot span creature with steel-like carapace. They would deal with the abominations happily, at least they weren’t the Zerg.
Seven months passed, and although Dr. Xavier had passed away, his son, Kraven, was granted leadership as Chairmen by popular vote. He was a strong leader, and loved the people and his father’s almost as much as he had before his demise. He was an ideal leader and was much younger. A government was soon formed, and life was generally care-free. Everything was perfect... until Ki’Menyu made himself known.

A lone drone had been taken on the ship by a scientist, Dr. Menyu. He had plans to use it to create weapons to fight against the Zerg if they ever found the new Terran paradise. Until base camp was to be set up, Menyu had planned on simply observing the drone and recording it’s behavior. Once they had jumped into light speed travel, he had noticed the first change in behavior. No longer did it seem to sit, awaiting its next order. But it paced its containment area observing and becoming captivated by all sorts of lights and objects. It was no longer a pawn, but a living organism capable of thought.
Menyu grew fond of his companion, and soon began to treat it more as a pet than a specimen. Eventually he braved letting it out of his pen. It acted much like a dog, running around, playing with objects. The only difference was that it seemed to have more intelligence. When it looked at something, its eyes would scan it, and Menyu could tell it was making inferences, it was learning.
Things were going great. Menyu had a friend to accompany him during the long nights working. Sometimes he could waste an hour or two at a time just observing specimen 0214. That is, until it vanished. It was a routine day, to the T. 0214 was released from his cage, and Menyu observed him for a moment, but then became involved in other projects. When dinner rolled around and Menyu finally pulled himself from his work, he called for the drone. He checked for signs of its tracking device, but found it not four feet from where he sat deep in thought just moments before.
Specimen 0214 had finally made it’s escape.

Dr. Menyu couldn’t let this affect his standings with the great St. Loueks, so he decided to wait for signs of 0214 to appear. He would the step in and regain what had fled from his dominance. That chance never came -- no sign was found of his companion. For the last year of the trek, Menyu hadn’t the foggiest as to where his specimen ended up. That is until "he" made himself known.
7 months after base camp was established and declared Genesis, Ki’Menyu sent his transmission. The lone drone, specimen 0214, had found an empty cargo container and had pillaged food and stayed silent and out of sight for an entire year. During the landing madness it had escaped undetected and found a mineral rich cave just over the range surrounding the south side of Genesis. It built up in the minerals and nutrients required, and in 6 days time was capable of forming a hatchery, and that is what it did.
The Zerg were remarkable creatures. Every organism within the swarm contained the DNA patterns for every creature contained within its reach. Once the hatchery was fully developed deep within the recesses of the deep caverns, it built its first drones. Zerglings followed, as did hydralisks and many Zerg structures. During this time the collective mind of the new swarm developed into a single entity, and a new overmind was created. It manifested itself in cerebrate form at first, but then it recalled the genetic strain called the Terran, and it reformed itself into a humanoid.
He named himself Ki’Menyu, or little Menyu, after the brilliant person who enabled him to break free of Kerrigan’s grasp. He had himself a small army, and a well defended fortress. He was ready to rid the planet of the Terran, and build his empire. The planet the apes had dubbed Ter Larune would soon be the rock for his swarm.
