View Full Version : Fast Rifling

I've been doing this on a solo smurf, and in the two games I did it (am currently 5-0) I absolutely thrashed my opponents with added ownsauce. Anyway, I like it, and so here's the build order I'm using and general strategy, just because you didn't ask.

VVolf's Fast Rifle Build (Taken from WCR)
This is the fastest build for straight rifles (bypassing foots) that's around.

5 peasants to gold, queue 2 to wood.

Take 1 from gold and START (not fully build, just start) an Altar, then START a Farm, and put the peasant on wood.

Continue to queue wood peasants as gold allows.

When you get 100 wood, take a peasant from wood and BUILD a Blacksmith, queueing him to GOLD when he finishes, so you will have 5 peasants on gold.

At 60 wood, take a peasant from wood and BUILD a Barracks, continuing to queue peasants to wood (you should have 13 food in Peasants when you finish producing them).

At 20 wood, take 3 peasants from wood, (which should leave you with no peasants on wood if you're doing the build order correctly,) one of which FINISHES the Altar, another FINISHES the Farm, and the third BUILDS another Farm. By now, you should have 5 peasants simultaneously building structures and 4 on wood.

By the time your Barracks finishes you should have enough to train a Rifleman, send him to a nearby Tavern and hire a hero of your choice, or wait for your Altar to finish and train a generic Human hero (although this leads to a very late hero so I don't like doing it).

After a while, you should have enough to build another Farm and train another Rifleman, and after that, continue to build Farms, an Arcane Tower, pump more Riflemen, add in a Mill and Vault when you feel it is necessary and I like to tech at around 27-30 food.

When you hire a Tavern hero, if done perfectly, your opponent's hero will have been out for about 15-20 seconds, and you will have a hero, 2 Riflemen, 8 peasants on wood and 5 on gold.

Against Orc, I prefer to go Beastmaster first and go Quilbeast first, investing my remaining skill points as I see fit (in other words, to counter my opponents army), then get a good 6 or 7 Rifles, hire a Firelord at Tier 2 and push their base. Normally my BM will be at Level 3 by this time if I can creep unchecked.

Against Undead, I go DR first to powercreep and get a good wall of Skeletons to distract the Undead player from the Rifles, going Panda second against Ghouls and Naga against Fiends with an early Tier 2 push. Against both races I go dual Sanctum at Tier 2 and just mass Rifle/Caster.

I haven't got any replays of myself against similar standard/better players yet, and I'm on holiday from 3.30am GMT (yes, my plane leaves at 6.10am) tomorrow so probably won't be able to get any until I return. If I do, I'll add them to this thread. Anyway, discuss!

What do you mean, I'm liek pro.

As a footnote, this doesn't work vs Undead. I was planning to go DR/Panda and push at early Tier 2 with skellies, but the Undead just camps his base, towers up then masses Tier 3 and wins, and the Hu can't do diddly-squat about it. Have to fix that so I expand early Tier 2/late Tier 1.

I tried to get a good game to save, but all the games where I do this have either been hopeless losses or ownage wins. I mean too ownage to even stir up any interest, ie. my opponent wasn't very good.

Then again HU typically rapes orc anyways and defended footy push can be brutal vs NE thats going archer to bear/dryad tech. Eh i tried to t2 expo today with NE vs a good level 34 HU and he pushed me with mass footy/caster towers am/naga. My wood got so fucked from having to use offensive wisps, getting tavern hero, setting up AOL, and expo that i got so raped.

btw, you should just get an account up to high level so you don't base your games off scrubby opponents. every opponent i play now is a hard fought game =/

even if you try new shit out or try out strats, at least you know if it works or doesnt work cause you are always playing hard to beat people. going 5-0 on ladder is dumb because you play randomly against scrubs or not scrubs, whereas high up you continually play players very close to your level

my point: stick to 1 account and stop worrying about your record. you'll end up playing far better games and won't question yourself as much when it comes to doing different strategies and such

I like the strat (rifles are best ranged in game, IMO), and I use it sometimes with a Pally. It's very good against Orcs because it zips straight into rifle sorc without having to fool around with inferior footies that get mass-raped by ChainWave.

And about Grog's comments: Word. Smurfing = pointless.

Eh when i play on North i dont usally have to many close games anymore. I usually rape my opponent or he rapes me. I play level 25-31 usually but im only level 13 on north and i never base skill on record anyways. I know your talking to redrag but i just wanted to get my 16 cents in the door. (Yes i know, worst modified quote ever).

Thing is, trying new strats and getting them to work repeatedly is pretty hard unless you have a good amount of skill. Some strats will always reign supreme, at least until theyre nerfed (Aka never).

Edit- Yea ive seen people use pally dual rax rifle before in solo vs my orc. Actually pretty good despite it sounding sucky. Serb beat me with it badly T_T.

I don't mind, just post one please;)

Meh, everyone has their opinions about smurfing. Sux to be me, looks like everyone's against me. If I spend enough time in this cafe I'm going to end up pressing the wrong key for apostrophe back home. Nubbins, the lot of you.

Anywho, GA agrees with me, and that's... a surprise? Well, whatever, he gets what I mean. When I get back I'm thinking of trying continually against Orc with Beastmaster and against UD with MK, although that does lead to a really late hero. Panda might be fun vs Hu, I don't know, but Panda/Mass Tier 1 for NE vs Hu is getting pretty popular.

Mass Hunts gets beaten so easily IMO by a similar number of Rifles. Focus firing allows you to take down a Hunt in about 2 attacks with a full group of Riflemen, and an AM or MK only helps.
