Pokémon RP: Humble Beginnings

note: I opted to not use the battle mechanic draft. Reasons included :>

AIDE: Greetings, young boys and girls! Welcome to Pallet Town, the hometown to the well-known trainer Ash! The town has grown thanks to the two trainers originating here, but we still are the most peaceful town in the Kanto region! No wonder the also famous Pokemon professor Oak set his lab up here. Here's plenty of space and clean nature for all kinds of pokemon to thrive in.

AIDE: Unfortunately prof. Oak is not here, he's busy with studying the Hoenn specialties. But no worry, I have permission from him to give you your first Pokemon to train! Every one of you shall get one, but choose wisely -- you cannot repick another if you don't like your choice. Of course you'll encounter many kinds of interesting species of pokemon, so not all is lost!

AIDE: Look around and rest for a while -- you have quite a journey ahead of you! Come to my lab tomorrow morning, I shall give you your starter pokemon!
There's only one of each, so don't come late.

There's extra monsters if this gets rly popular

Okay, now to the technicalities:

I'll keep track of your monster power, so you dont need to think about that if you don't like it. That power is used to determine competitive battle results, not necessarily NPC/Wild monster battle results. Monster types and skills in their disposal matter -- I'll be rolling some dice for less accurate skills and extra effects, so a slightly powerful monster doesnt automatically win. I'll also put in some limits to Confusion effects, so even if the dice says so, you dont lose 5 or more turns to partial suicide. I don't do this with exact numbers, more with this so-called "gut feeling" and in close cases check some real data to make it (seem) more fair. Usually it should not be needed, and I can explain the process behind a battle if someone does not feel it went right.

The other system I drafted in the other thread is not really suitable for a RP of this type, I'm afraid. It does not scale well with power increase over time. Not at all.

So, basically, you can freely control NPC/wild fights. Player versus Player fights are controlled by me.
You can catch about any monster you encounter, but keep it somewhat believable. You can't encounter a Mewtwo in the grass outside Pewter and catch it with your first Pokeball. I'll let you know if a pokemon you encounter should not be there.

While you move together and publicly catch monsters, you can change your party at all out-of-combat times. You get an improved PokeNavi with PC functionality -- no more item or pokemon storage problems. You need to report party changes to me, though.

Monsters will level up quite fast, I'll tune the gym encounters to be matching for user monsters though. I'll inform you of monster levelups. Also, I'll keep every player's stored monsters listed publicly (with approximate levels), although the exact party and exact levels are private. That's because everyone can see the monster catching encounters and its stupid to try to hide that. Also, new players can see the overall level we're in. Monsters stored in PC grow faster towards the party general level, normalising when they reach it. Again, I'll keep the exact levels and parties with me, so you dont have to worry about that. Remember to check any party changes in, I'll force rematch if a duel/encounter party does not match with the party in my records. Usually that shouldnt be a biggie, changing part of the fight. Sometimes changing the outcome though.

Duel battles can be done less interactively on forums with me deciding most things apart from parties or interactively on IRC. Either way goes, but I (or some other referee I've appointed) have to be rolling the dice and checking when a monster faints. Duels are a hassle to do really fairly, so let's avoid them.

"Tomorrow morning" as given by the Aide is somewhere in this Sunday. Might change. Don't get in the lab before I let you in as the Aide. You can think of a pokemon you want, but who gets what is decided by timing -- if you are able to post first after I let you in, you get to choose from them all. Note that you have to actually choose in that post.
Meanwhile, post yer characters and socialize a bit.

I woke up early today in anticipation for the AIDE's offer, but my "mother" was up earlier. I caught some snippets of the conversation, and I decided I was better off not knowing what the heck was going on with her mind.

JENOVA (into phone): "Well, I'm glad you're having fun over in Midgar with the SOLDIERS, Sephy dear. I'll be over soon, I promise!"

JENOVA (into phone): "Ooh - Calamity from the Skies... Cetra... Materia... sounds cool to me! Yes yes, I won't forget about your precious Reunion, dear. I'll make it - I promise."

<JENOVA hangs up the phone and grabs and backpack.>

Huh.

As we walked outside, she barely seemed to notice me, so I began walking towards the AIDE's laboratory. As I turned back, I realized that JENOVA was gone, and a distant meteor shower had begun in the sky. Strange. But no stranger than what had happened to me, really. This place was so chaotic!

*** In AIDE's Lab ***

AIDE: Good morning, Ansar! You get second choice, since Miss Alexandra came by first.

I wondered, earlier than four in the morning? Maybe it's just the jet lag.

ANSAR: Well. Let's get this sha'rah started, then, bukh'nasa.

AIDE: Right... <looks dubiously at Ansar> Pick your companion pokemon, then. Then I can give you these two mecha-contraptions.

ANSAR: <gestures randomly> That one. And I love mecha-contraptions.

<Obnoxious theme music plays>

ANSAR: Where'd that blatantly disgusting sound come from?

AIDE: Does it really matter? Just pick your pokemon and advance the plot, for whatever worth it may have.

Jess opened the door to her house and looked into the sky, the sun rising over the horizon. She quickly flipped her blonde hair and walked towards the Pokèmon place. As she opened the door she noticed two other people standing around the lobby, she hoped they hadn't taken her Pokèmon.

“Good morning, please go and select your Pokèmon” the Aide lead her to a table lined with PokèBalls. She quickly snatched the one labeled “Mudkip” and smiled. She quickly released the Pokèmon and kneeled before it.

“You are so cute!” she said as she slowly reached her hand towards it and stroked its head. It cooed slightly at her touch and walked towards her, its big black eyes glistening. Jessica’s heart immediately melted and she slowly picked up the Mudkip and held it in her arms, she turned to the Aide and smiled. The Aide returned the smile and handed her the essential training gear.

"Cody dear, Get up its time to go get your pokemon" his mom said.

He slammed his hand on the alarm clock shutting it off. he then got up, got dressed, and headed outside.

I better run to the aides. Shortly later when he arrived at the Aide's lab, he noticed a pokeball labeled Larvitar grabbed it with pride exclaming how glad he was to get a rock pokemon.

Yes, this will be the perfect start to my team.

Logan awoke to his mother smashing his door with a mallet, screaming, "If you don't wake up, you'll be late for the give away!" Eventually, the message got through, Logan awoke, and was on his way to the lab.

He stepped in, passing someone who had already grabbed theirs, and looked around. Lots of blue in this lab, apparently.

"Hello there, you must be here for a pokemon." one of the aides greeted.

"Uh... yeah," Logan stammered, and cleared his throat. "You wouldn't happen to have a Charmander would you?"

"As a matter of fact, we do!" the aide replied, picking up the pokeball with Charmander in it and tossing it to Logan.

Logan pressed the button on the front of the pokeball, causing it to burst open with a happy looking Charmander emerging.

"I'm gonna make you the strongest Charmander ever!" Logan said, pocketing the pokeball and picking up his Charmander as if it were his prom date.

Benjamin awoke suddenly, from a very good, yet horrible dream. It involved him becoming friends with the girl he had a crush on, but also involved school, which was a very bad thing. Thinking of that, he remembered his plan for today. He quickly hoped out of bed, put some clothes on and brushed his teeth. He headed out the door without looking back. Ben hadn’t an idea where his parents were at this time, since they had told him they would wake him up early to go. Ben sighed as he started toward the lab on the edge of town (Or perhaps near the middle, but in the movies (yeah, I was 8 and I have a good memorie, bite me) it was near the center of town. I just used ( ( ) ).)

Plenty of times on TV Ben had seen Pokemon trainers his age, even younger, talk about how they traveled around the world in interviews. It also appeared that they weren’t bothered truancy officers. So, Ben decided that his best course of action involved getting a Pokemon (something he slightly wanted to do anyways) becoming a trainer, and traveling the world. That sounded very nice.

As Ben neared the building entrance, he was still trying to decide on what Pokemon to choose. He vaguely knew about most of them, such as their names, and types in a few cases, but he couldn’t really remember what most of them looked like. He was jolted from his thoughts by the whoosh of an electric door opening. Looking up, he scanned the room in front of him. There were already several people in the room, and nearly as many Pokeballs were missing. Ben hesitantly walked forward, and looked at a man in a lab coat.

“Are you Professor Aide?” he asked.

“Yes, and I suppose you’re here for a Pokemon, right?”

“Yeah”

“Okay then! The Pokemon are over on that table, inside the object-“

“I know about that! Jeeze, you’re acting like I was just starting to hear about this stuff.”

“Erm . .” Professor Aide shifted his eyes.

Ben approached the table, and read off the remaining names. He quickly chose the shortest one, and grabbed it off the table.

“Ralts, huh? I’ve never heard of this one.”

"Come on guys, lets head to Pewter city, we'll be able to get our first badge there.. but we have to go through Viridian City first, then the forest. hen we get to the forest, It'll be a great chance to practice battling with your pokemon, and maybe catch a few bug pokemon, they're native there." Cody informs the others

Cody then proceeds out the door, and up into a grassy feild on the way to viridian city With everyone else comming behing him. While in the grassy area, a wild Rattata appears, Cody decides he should try out his Larvitar now.

Larvitar GO!!
Larvitar jumps out of the pokeball. The Rattata tackles him, and he is knocked off his feet. Cody then commands Larvitar to use Bite. The Rattata began to run at Larvitar again, he doged and bit it again. The Rattata fainted.

A RATTATA is cautious in the extreme. Even while it is asleep, it constantly moves its ears and listens for danger. It will make its nest anywhere.

OOC: according to seal, I believe this will be how pokemon are aquired, and how battles will go. Your pokemon shouldn't know too strong moves yet, and you can only catch basic pokemon as of yet.. but thats how its done.

Reito slapped his alarm clock, it fell off the table and onto the ground. He groaned and hauled himself out of bed, and looked at his calender. Today was circled and in big letters the phrase "Pokemon Day" was written.

"Damnit, I knew there was a reason I was supposed to wake up today."

He tossed the first clothes he saw on, a pair of jeans and a rather generic black T-shirt, grabbed his backpack full of junk and sunglasses, and ran out the door.

"Later mom, I'm off to get famous."

Reito arrived at Oak's place panting, running from the farthest part of town did that. After a few seconds of catching his breath he started running again. Eventually arriving, panting again, in the office that pokemon were being handed out in.

"I'm here....*pant*...for my...*pant*...starter pokemon."

Aide pointed to the two remaining Pokeballs, Oddish and Spheal. He had already missed the rest and was getting the leftovers, lateness does that.

"Spheal sounds cool, I'll take it."

He grabbed the pokeball labeled "Spheal" and opened it up.

A few seconds later he found himself on the ground with a happy blue thing on his chest.

"You must be Spheal, hi little dude."

As Jessica walked through the forest holding her Mudkip in her arms a wild Sentret charges the two. Mudkip struggles from Jessica’s arms and tackles the Sentret to the ground growling.

“Use growl!” Jessica shouts. The Mudkip emits a frightful rumble from its throat and the Sentret becomes slightly afraid. The Sentret scratches at Mudkip but misses by a centimeter. Mudkip tackles the pokemon to the ground again, knocking it unconscious.

“Wait, hold on!” Jessica pulled a PokèBall out from her pocket and threw it at the Sentret. It went inside the ball but it shook, once, twice, but then stopped. Jessica threw her hands into the air and shouted in victory, she kneeled to the ground and her Mudkip came bounding up to her with the PokèBall in its mouth, she quickly scooped up her Pokèmon and an instant bond was formed between the two. They had fought their first battle together and it resulted in the capture of a Pokèmon, Jessican had never been more proud of anything in her whole life.

Jessica’s Pokèdex chirped and she pulled it out and opened it a voice came through the speakers, “Sentret, When acting as a lookout this Pokèmon warns others of danger by screeching and pounding the ground with its tail.”

I was already far ahead of the group, having had started the earlier. Slogging through grasslands drenched with rain, I fumbled with the contraption that I had been given earlier, trying not to act surprised when it opened in a burst of white light, and a small, brown-and-white furry creature glanced at him. Not knowing what to do, I pulled out my first mecha-contraption, the one the AIDE had said was an encyclopedia. Or something like that.

PokeDex: An EEVEE has an unstable genetic makeup that suddenly mutates due to its environment. Radiation from various STONES causes this POKéMON to evolve.

Cool. Radiation. :) The Eevee was still looking at me expectantly, so I decided to follow what appeared to be the norm here and began talking to it.

Ansar: Hello. I'm your trainer, Ansar. You're going to help me get out of this world, but I understand that we'll have to work cooperatively to accomplish that. That sound good to you?

Eevee: Eevee! <Nodding>

Ansar: In that case, let's see what you can do.

Suddenly, a small bird, speckled brown and white but with piercing blue eyes, alighted from the skies and landed on a meadow nearby. How coincidental, I wondered. Time to see if this worked like the manuals said it was supposed to...

Ansar: Eevee - attack it!

The Eevee merely looked at me, while the bird still didn't seem to have noticed, yet. Ugh. I remembered what the manual had said. "Pokemon will attack only when given a specific attack name. However, long periods of attenuation and training may make conducive conversation and communication in this matter easier.

Ugh. I had no idea what attacks this thing - Eevee, I reminded myself to think of it as a person, almost - could use, so I picked one of the more generic ones.

Ansar: Eevee, use TACKLE!

This time, it obeyed, darting quickly at the bird, smashing into it with its head. The bird, still facing the other direction, gave a squawk of surprise as it went flying through the air, smashing into a small rock. Dazed, it tried to re-orient itself, but failed, staggering.

Manual: When Pokemon are near fainting, they can be captured by throwing a Pokeball at them.

I guess its worth a shot. Grabbing a pokeball from my satchel, I threw it at the bird and waited to see what would happen.

...

I missed. Crap. Shaking my head and muttering, I threw another one, and this one came on target. In a burst of red light, the bird was sucked inside, and the Pokeball went still. I walked over, patted my Eevee on the head, to which it responded favorably, and opened the Pokeball. The bird stared at me, but made no move to try to escape. Good.

Repeating the lines about cooperation and such, to which it acknowledged, I pulled out my Pokedex again.

Pokedex: PIDGEY has an extremely sharp sense of direction. It is capable of unerringly returning home to its nest, however far it may be removed from its familiar surroundings.

Cool. I caught a Pidgey. Returning it to its Pokeball, I continued forth. This Viridian City might just hold some answers...

Logan passed from Pallet Town to Viridian City without adding a pokemon to his team, instead stopping in the shop to buy potions and pokeballs. As he exitted the building, he noticed a few of the people who had visited the professor's lab back in Pallet Town.

Logan shrugged, putting his items in his backpack and entering the Viridian Forest. Suddenly, a Caterpie appeared! Logan drew the pokeball containing Charmander, and threw it at the ground, shouting, "Go, Charmander!"

However, mistake number one was forgetting to expand the pokeball. Embarrassed, Logan picked it up, hit the button, and released his Charmander. "Ok... everyone makes mistakes. Charmander, use scratch!"

The Charmander complied, running up to the Caterpie and scratching it furiously. In response, the Caterpie threw itself at the Charmander in a tackle. The lizard quickly rose, obviously stronger than the bug.

"Scratch it again!" Logan cried.

The Charmander again scratched with gusto, the Caterpie finally showing weakness. Logan flashed a broad grin, took a pokeball out of his backpack, expanded it, and threw it at the weakened bug. The ball wiggled for a time, and eventually gave up, submitting to its new master.

"Alright! Good work, Charmander!" Logan said, patting his pokemon on the head, and returning him to his pokeball. The trainer also placed his newest pokemon on his belt, a sense of accomplishment overwhelming him.

Reito headed out after the rest of the group, his Spheal bounding and rolling along behind him. It seemed quite pleased to be free of the cramped orb it had been calling home for who knows how long.

"So little dude, shall we catch you some friends?"

Spheal gave what could only be considered an enthusaiastic "SPHEAL!"

The pair walked a little more, eventually finding what looked like a large bird with golden wings and a red head. A Spearow, if he remembered right.

"All right, we found one, get 'em Spheal!"

Spheal bounded foreward. "Spheal!" It looked back as if waiting for something.

Reito sstood there thinking for a moment.

"Oh yeah, attack names, hmm....what can a Spheal do....try Water Gun"

Spheal nodded, spun around, and shot a burst of water from its mouth, nailing the Spearow squarely in the back of the head. It squaked loudly and spun around, slightly disoriented, before getting nailed in the head with a Pokeball.

The ball shook a couple times, then went still.

"Good job little dude."

"SPHEAL!"

Reito picked up the pokeball, and went back to catching up.

Viridian City... it seemed odd to me that everyone in a city should paint their buildings the same color, and then name it after that color, but I supposed it could have been worse. I walked up to a building with the sign PokeCenter, and decided that my two companions could use some rest. As the nurse behind the desk placed my two PokeBalls onto their holding receptacles and depressed a switch, a bright light began to shine on the healing area, causing the PokeBalls to flash sharp white and pitch black alternatively.

Remembering what I had read in the PokeDex earlier, I asked a question.

Ansar: Would that be radiation, Nurse?

Nurse: No, it's exactly what it looks like - a really, really bright light. It seems to accelerate the Pokemons' rest phase and healing, though; no one really knows how or why, though. However, it's fairly cheap, so we use it anyways.

Huh.

After thanking the Nurse and leaving the Center, I wandered around the area, asking if anyone knew about my hometown, Tojareh'Tharos. Surprisingly - or perhaps not, I thought with a wry grin - they seemed surprised that it didn't contain a color. In any case, no one knew anything. Oh, well.

All that walking and talking had me a bit thirsty, and seeing no public water dispensers anywhere, I walked into another structure, this one with the word PokeMart on it. I bought a few more of the PokeBalls, and then found what appeared to be a drink, albeit in a strange container.

As I opened the canister and began to take a sip, the man behind the counter laughed.

Man: That's a Potion for PokeMon, young sir. Don't be wasting it on yourself, y'hear?

Ansar: But there's no fresh water anywhere else!

Man: Maybe, but none of us seem to ever get thirsty, or hungry for that matter. Outlanders like you might need some time to adapt, though. Could be the air.

Ansar: But what if I'm about to starve, or die of thirst?

Man: <shrugs>

Wonderful... I continued on my way out to the north, ignoring a crazy old man who kept trying to keep me back with some rant about coffee. He wouldn't get out of my way, so I just walked right past him, ignoring the amazed look on his face. Maybe no one else had ever done that, before.

Then I wondered why the heck he needed coffee anyways, if no one ever got thirsty or hungry.

The sun was barely over the horizon. This was going to be a long, long day...

Jessica giggled to herself as she watched Logan begin his battle with the Caterpie. She slowly stroked her Mudkip’s head and laughed when Logan dropped the PokèBall. As the Charmander and Caterpie battled Jessica took the opportunity to release her Sentret from the Pokèball. As soon as it hit the ground the Sentret clambered up Jessicas leg and planted itself on her shoulder hanging its big tail over her back pack. Mudkip and the Sentret rubbed noses together and nipped playfully at each other. Jessica turned to the battle and saw Charmander scratch up the Capterpie and watched as Logan captured it.

“Nice battle!” Jessica said to Logan, walking out of the brush, “Mind accompanying me to the PokèMart and then Center so I can give my Sentret a rest?” Mudkip looked at Logan and blew a bubble at him, Jessica squeeled with delight as her friend showed signs of developing a new ability.

" Are you a trainer?" asked Sai and Mai

" You bet, I have a Larvitar and a Rattata."

"Wanna battle?" they asked

"Sure, who'd first?"

"Both of us, haven't you ever heard of a double battle?" The asked

" A double battle whats that?"

"Well, the two of us get to use one pokemon each, and you get to use two, since you have two you should be able to do it." they explained

Mai calls out her Spearow
Sai calls out her Pidgey

GO! Larvitar
GO! Rattata

Rattata Tackle the Pidgey
the Pidgey swoops out of reach and Sparow flies in with a furious Peck on Rattata

"Wow great teamwork!"

Larvitar, pull them out of the sky with a Sandstorm
The area was swept by a brutal sandstorm damaging even Rattata

Quick Rattata use agility and Tackle Spearow
Rattata Rapidly increased speed and hit Spearow with a blinding tackle knocking it unconsious just as the sandstorm subsided.

Pidgey took off upinto the sky, but it was easy to see it had troubles flying
Suddenly it flapped its wings and blew Rattata back to Cody's feet.

" Good job Rattata, you had a great fight."

Pidgey was having more trouble flying, and it swooped across Tackling Larvitar.

Its comming back Quick Larvitar bite it now.
Larvitar bit Pidgey's wing and threw it to the ground, leaving it unconsious.

" That was fun, and I win!"

Cody then headed back to the pokemon Center and Healed his pokemon, then he headed for Viridan Forest, when he noticed two trainers from the Aides lab Up ahead, one getting bubbled in the face from a mudkip.


"Hey, I remember you two Logan and Jessica right. Well its not far to the first gym now. Come on lets GO"

Having just left the City parameters, I immediately encountered a hard-faced man brandishing a bug-catching net. It seemed very out of place on someone who looked as if he had fought in the Nimash'ta Wars. I tried to go about my way, but he spoke first in a rasping growl.

Man: Hey, you! Where ya from?

I decided to give him an honest answer. Lying was strictly forbidden in my upbringing, after all.

Ansar: I am of Tojareh'Tharos, City of the Cliffs.

Man: Well, I didn't really care, anyways. How 'bout a battle?

I thought that seemed pretty random, but I obliged. The man smiled, too, and took out a PokeBall that was scratched and dirty from long use.

Man: Go, Caterpie!

A small green caterpillar-like abomination appeared before me. It didn't seem threatening, but I had grown up in a place where a tree could strangle and kill you.

Ansar: Eevee, strike down this infidel!

So what if I didn't care for the "proper" syntax? My first companion growled threateningly at the caterpillar, and I thought bemusedly that I could simply order my friend to eat the pitiful thing.

Man: Crazy foreigner... Caterpie, use Tackle!

The Caterpie lunged forth, and I barely had time to react.

Ansar: Eevee, attack, quickly!

Apparently, it seemed to think I had said something else, as it seemed to speed up impossibly, running forward as a shadowy blur in the eye and striking the Caterpie on its flank with great force, sending it flying into the air.

Man: Not bad... Caterpie, use String Shot!

Even as it flew in the air, the Caterpie fired a fiber of what appeared to be silk at a tree, swinging through it and landing softly on the grass. Even as it did so, though, my Eevee ran forth to meet it, smashing its large, furry tail against the bug.

What was going on? I wondered. PokeMon weren't supposed to be this independent! Maybe it was my talk about freedom in cooperation, I thought. Oh well, whatever worked.

The Caterpie swayed, and I shouted in victory.

Ansar: Eevee, use Tackle!

Once more, it ran forth, placing its attack deliberately on the same spot it had hit the Caterpie earlier, smashing the Caterpie against a tree trunk. It trembled and then fainted, lying there piteously.

The Man seemed dejected, as he might, but my Eevee was very happy, indeed, yelping in excitement and frolicking about. I went to embrace it, and it slammed into me with great force, almost knocking me over. I smiled at it and returned it to its PokeBall, while the Man sighed and shook my hand.

Man: Good battle. I'll see you on later in the forest, after I get a few more bugs to work with.

Handing over a few pieces of currency and bending over to retrieve his Caterpie and return it to its PokeBall, he he began trotting north, cages and net flapping behind him.

The sun was high in the sky, and I had been up for almost 12 hours now, with poor sleep the days before. Finding a tree that gave moderate shade, I pulled my hat over my face and dozed off.

Logan looked over to the one who had addressed him. Turning on his heel and opening his mouth to speak, he saw it was a girl, explaining the higher voice. He stopped short, blushing, and looking away quickly. She was kinda cute in his opinion... oh, what was a 13-year-old to do?

Wiping his face clean of emotion, amorous or otherwise, he composed himself and looked at her again.

"Why go to the PokeCenter when we're already so close to Pewter City? Besides, I have a few potions. That should hold you through to the next town." Logan said, taking a few potions out of his backpack and offering them to the girl.

"Hey, I remember you two Logan and Jessica right. Well its not far to the first gym now. Come on lets GO!" another person said, this time a male. Logan looked over to him, a familiar face indeed.

"Yeah, Logan is me. Close to the gym? Cool!" Logan said with enthusiasm. He was eager for his first real pokemon battle, and what better than to face a gym leader?

OOC: Easy, we ran or didn't stop to fight :P It isn't a long walk from Pallet Town to Viridian City. It takes like... 2 minutes tops real time from Pallet to Viridian, can't be too long in the game. In fact, I could count the steps. It's likely less than a mile.

As Jessica walked in between the two males she smiled at herself she knew that she was attractive, she wasn’t vain but she didn’t deny the facts. She decided to play a game and walked ahead of the two males shaking her hips as she went, she glanced over her shoulder and saw Logan quickly wipe his mouth. She giggled and continued walking and stroking her Mudkip.

“Sentret?” Jessica asked, noticing that her Sentret had wandered off. She stopped causing Logan to run into her and fall over; she looked around the ground for her lost Pokèmon. She sighed as it came bounding up to her and leapt onto its now usual spot on her shoulder, “Don’t run off like that! You scared me half to death!” It cooed as she scratched its ear.

I woke up suddenly, noticing luckily that the sun hadn't moved very much. Controlling sleep was a difficult thing to do, but infinitely helpful. Noticing the person collapsed near me, I slapped his face lightly until he came to, and then sprinkled some of the Potion to wake him up further. Upon the clear liquid touching him, he yelped and jumped to his feet. I didn't know Potions were that useful...

Ansar: Who are you, and why did you faint?

Man: The name's Brian, and I'm a trainer like you, I suppose. The heat was a bit much, and I think I lost consciousness...

Ansar: It's alright... though if this had been my hometown, you would have been dead before you could have woken up.

Brian: Whoa! Where did you live?

Ansar: It's a long story. Let's get going and catch up to the others.

as the forest got thicker i was having a hard time keeping up with it then it turned and fought

it looked kinda like a weed and i suddenly realised it was an oddish but before i could make a move 3more odishes came out of the brush
clearly i had made a terrible mistake
i took off runing when i ran out onto the road someone was coming i saw that person

Me: what were you thinking pushing me off a bus
Rival: lets settle this *pulls out a pokeball*

Ben stepped outside the Lab and immediately headed north. He had received a Pokedex, 10 Pokeballs, and a Pokenav. Ben studied his Map and Pokedex, reading the entry for Ralts.

RALTS senses the emotions of people using the horns on its head. This Pokemon rarely appears before people. But when it does, it draws closer if it senses that the person has a positive disposition.

“Well, that sounds cool, but I wonder what it looks like. Hmmm . . .”

Ben pressed the button on the pokeball, making it double in size, and then threw it out in front of him. In a flash of light a small creature with a large blue head appeared. On the head was a horn. It looked up at him and stared.

“Err . . You look cool, but why are you staring at me like you want to eat my soul?”

As if in reply, in nodded its head and started walking out of the city. Ben, clueless as of what to do followed the Ralts out of the city. He opened up the Pokedex again, looking to see if that was normal Ralts behavior. After accidentally hitting a button, a picture of a Ralts came up. This one’s head wasn’t blue, however.

“Hmm, that’s weird.”

Noticing that Ralts had a rather short stride, and didn’t seem to be in much of a hurry, Ben picked it up and started walking towards Viridian city.



Ben had stopped by one of Viridian’s locale stores to buy supplies. On his way up he had seen signs going on and on about how potions and revives were essential to long trips. He didn’t have enough money to buy many revives, so Ben bought five potions, leaving him with no money.

“Eh, I’ll have to make up for that later.”

Ben left the city, but not after looking at the locale Gym. It appeared to be out of commission, so Ben continued on through the city, heading north yet again into Viridian Forest. It was really dark here, almost like a cave. Not much sunlight was getting through the tops of the trees. Ralts, however, was seemingly unfazed by the sudden change of lighting. It had now taken occupation on top of Ben’s backpack, looking over his shoulder as he walked through the forest. Noticing movement off to his right, Ben noticed a small caterpillar-like Pokemon moving down a tree to his right.

“Ralts, do you see that Pokemon?” Ben asked.

Nodding in reply, Ralts jumped down from his backpack, and looked up at the tree. Weedle noticed this action, and also jumped down from his position. It quickly lunged forward at rammed Ralts with its horn. Ralts took the attack without any major damage.

“Ralts, attack it with Confusion!”

Ralts did a death stare at the Weedle, and suddenly the area between them seemed to shake. The Weedle suddenly cried in pain and jumped backwords. Infuriated by the attack, it lunged another time at Ralts. However, this time Ralts sidestepped, causing Weedle to crash into a tree, knocking it senseless.

Ben quickly threw a Pokeball at the dazed Pokemon, and waited to see if it would break out.

One bump . . .

Two bumps .. .

Three bumps, and it was caught!

Ben walked towards the Pokeball lying on the ground and picked it up. Suddenly his Pokedex chimed, information being uploaded to it about the newly captured Pokemon.

Ben walked back over to Ralts, concerned about weather or not it was hurt badly, Ben walked back over to the Ralts. It didn’t seem to be hurt very badly, except for a small gash in its chest (Fuck you, the battles are gritty for me :D). Ben reached into his pack, pulling out the spray on Potion. Ben continued through the forest, wandering for what seemed like hours, when suddenly (again) a Pokemon jumped out from the bushes. Its pointy ears and yellow hide was a dead give away about its identity. The Pikachu looked like it had been in a knife fight recently, had cuts all along its body (lol, Spartan). It looked near to fainting, so Ben decided this was as good of a time as any. He threw the Pokeball at the unaware Pikachu, catching it easily. He continued on his way through the forest, until he came upon a group of three people . . .

As Cody and the others reach the end of the forest, Anothe boy comes up behind them announcing that his name was Ansar.

"Alright this is the exit to pewter, just a short trip through the feild, and you'll come to the gym you three go on ahead, but lets meet up at the pokemon center after we're all done at th gym, this way the others comming through can catch up. I hav a pokemon I want to find in these woods. Cody tells the others.

As he was leaving he saw another boy running up to the group.

Cody begins wandering through the woods, looking an searching untill finally on a stump about 20 yards away he spots is a Wurmple.

"Did It faint that fast? Cody thought to himself.

upon watching the battle with wurmple i decided i need a poke but what when i was kicked in the back of the head by a mankey
i sent out poochyena and used a potion on him

mankey side steps then kicks poochyena
me:poochyena do a bite but when he steps tackle him
mankey sidesteped the bite but not the tackle he was thrown against a tree out cold
i threw a pokeball then looked at my pd(pokedex) it said that the mankey i just caught was smaller than usual
so i decided to go to the poke center to rest up a bit

Jessica looked around at the crowd of males and began feeling a little uncomfortable. She quickly walked off by herself and sat beneath a tall tree, but not before laying out a pink towel so she wouldn’t get her bum dirty. She set her two Pokèmon in front of her and watched them play. She pulled out her PokèDex and looked up Mudkip, the picture of the Mudkip in her Dex was Blue and Orange (Go Gators WOOT!) but hers was purple and orange, but she loved those colors so she didn’t care.

“Kippy, use bubble” Jess said to her Mudkip, which she just made up a nickname to on the spot. The Mudkip stood up on its hind legs and formed its mouth into and ‘O’ shape a bubble sputtered out of its mouth and weakly burst. The creature looked up at Jessica with what could be considered a smile, she just laughed. She looked at her Sentret and furrowed her unblemished brow in thought, “I think I’ll call you…Bear!”

The Sentret propped itself on its tail and smiled at her. It quickly turned around and plopped off of its perch and began thumping its tail on the ground with a worried look on its face. Jessica quickly scooped up Kippy and walked slowly towards the direction Bear was looking. She quickly realized that the threat wasn’t from the ground like she thought but from the air, a large bird type Pokèmon swooped down and pecked Jessica on the head hard. She recoiled as Kippy leapt out her arms and slammed into the bird. The bird flapped its wings at Kippy sending it flying back, but Bear leapt in and pounced onto the bird.

“Kippy use mudslap!” her Mudkip dug its heels into the ground and kicked a bunch of dirt into the birds eyes, “Bear use Quick Attack!” The Sentret ran quickly at the Bird but it flew into the air flapping its wings madly sending sharp gusts of wind at Bear he flew back and slammed into a tree. Mudkip jumped into the air and tackled the bird to the ground, the Birds wind flaps seemed to be growing weaker. Jessica pulled out a PokèBall and threw it at the bird, it disappeared into the ball and it began shaking, once, twice, but it burst. The Bird shook its head sending the mud out of its eyes; it flew straight at Jessica cawing. She quickly ducked and the bird flew into the tree behind her and fell to the ground stunned. She quickly backed away from it and threw another PokèBall at it, once, twice, three times, and finally it stopped. She pulled out her Dex and looked up the creature she just captured.

“Pidgeotto: This Pokèmon flies around, patrolling its large territory. If its living space is violated, it shows no mercy in thoroughly punishing the foe with its sharp claws” She slowly closed the device and sighed, she had gotten lucky, she picked up the PokèBall. She ran to her Mudkip, it had fainted, she quickly picked it up and ran to Bear, it too had fainted. She kissed Bear on the forehead and sent it to its PokèBall. She sprinted out of the forest past the others and straight into the PokèCenter, crying her eyes out.

Wanker, you should not use all shinies. They are uber uber rare, and I only have 1 and that was stretching it. Don't use all shinies. At most you hsould only have 1.

I decided to take their silence for acceptance, especially since none moved to draw a knife, signalling the declaration of feud.Ahn'la dasaga, I cursed mentally. The customs I had been raised to were worthless here, and I would have to learn to adapt if I ever meant to survive this.

I took the time to survey the others. They all seemed fairly competent and confident, physically capable and intelligent but the girl seemed uneasy. Strange. The way she seemed to glance at the three of us every so often, it would seem as if she considered us a threat of some sort. I recognized the appearance from veterans returning from sharp skirmishes in the treacherous foothills of the Jhar'mensa Kah, but why here? From the information he had gathered, this land was entirely at peace.

I decided to walk over and investigate. There seemed nothing better to do, anyways; I could hardly urge them to press on when I was the most recent addition to the party. As I walked towards her, her eyes widened slightly. Very strange, indeed.

Ansar: You appear troubled.

Girl: <silence>

Ansar: This land is at peace, is it not? What do you fear?

I grimaced mentally, though my face continued to show a neutral expression. Perhaps she was naturally introverted, but I doubted that from the way she had shown affection to her Pokemon. One last try, though. I noticed that her eyes showed a trace of defiance, now. What was wrong with this person?

Pidgies evolve at like lvl 18. dude. That means you caught a super rare wild pokemon of a super rare color. Thats like a 1% chance of happening, and anyways, your pokemon would have been analy raped. They're like lvl 6 at this point, unless your pokemon gain XP from not fighting. srsrly.

Yes, because its not possible for you to have caught one. Just faint it and leave it out of your party.

I'll fuss about both. You caught a second tier pokemon with two level tier ones, and they are all shiny. Change it back and I'll stop bugging you. Either that, or NEVER use the pidgeoto. :D

Okay, clarifications:

You can catch knocked out monsters. We're not lame.

I've traced your monster power this far, and because this is so popular, it takes quite a bit of time. Because of that, I'll detach my character from the party and use it indepently to give me time to keep up with the rp. I'll play the major NPCs (gyms) and some other NPCs to direct you around if needed.

Anyway, cut on the shiny monsters. They are 1/65000 chance.

I'd appreciate if you used the sprites when you catch them, at least. Makes for easier tracking.

This was getting boring, I thought. Oh well, might as well divert myself while those other people stand there and do nothing.

Releasing my Eevee, I scanned around for any tempting targets. There seemed to be a small yellow-and-black creature scurrying about, and I set my Eevee on it in glee.

Ansar: Eevee, Quick Attack!

With a sharp bark of acceptance, it sprung itself into the air again, a brown-white blur that seemed to impact the other Pokemon like a sharg'tal slamming into a city's walls. The yellow-and-black one looked back in annoyance, casting my Eevee one contemptuous glance before acting.

Pokemon: Pikaaa-chu!

A sharp rasp of thunder reached my ears, and I was shocked to see Eevee panting slightly as it lay on the ground. Briefly, though - it regained its footing and began another Quick Attack. This time, though, it bypassed the Pikachu, causing it to aim incorrectly as it counter-attacked, and then slammed into it from behind with a loud thud.

The Pikachu growled ominously as it re-alighted itself on its feet, and prepared to smash its tail, charged with electricity, into my Eevee. Already, though, it had anticipated, dodging aside and repeating another Tackle on the Pikachu's flank, knocking it down again. This time, it was struggling slightly, but my Eevee was getting tired, too. I recalled it and sent out my Pidgey. Then I thought about it, and sent out my Eevee again. A bird would only get annihated by electric shocks, and it would be an easy target, too.

In compensation, I sprinkled a few drops of the Potion onto my Eevee, which nodded in satisfaction before dashing off again, tackling the Pikachu yet again, as it fell for the third time. This time, it was slow in getting up, and my Eevee seized the opportunity, grabbing the Pikachu's tail and biting deeply into it, causing the electric-type to yelp in pain before attempting to shake it off. Eevee hung on gamely, though, and the Pikachu seemed to be enraged past attempting to use its electricity. I nodded. This is how a lesser foe fought a greater, exploiting the flanks and rear and never slackening in the assault. My father had been a general in the Legions of Midnight, and I had been instructed well at the Academy of Xel'Tharos itself. Exactly what he would have done, in a similar situation.

Finally, after what seemed an immensely long time, the Pikachu's efforts weakened, and my Eevee dashed off of the Pikachu before gathering momentum and bashing it one more time. It fell and did not rise.

Excellent. I took another of my ten Pokeballs and threw it at the prone figure, which couldn't offer any struggle. One more, and this one seemed powerful.

Logan continued on through the forest, wanting to thoroughly see its contents before moving on. He had noticed a few Pikachu and Pidgeotto about, plus the bug pokemon already creeping along. He sat under a tree to rest for a few minutes, letting out his Charmander and his Caterpie for them to have some stretching room and fresh air.

Only when Logan looked up did he realize the fact he was under a tree packed to the brim with Kakuna. For the first time since he left the lab, he remembered he had something called a Pokedex, whatever that was. Taking the device out of his pocket, it chirped and began to speak.

"Kakuna; the cocoon pokemon. Almost incapable of moving, this pokemon can only harden its shell to protect itself from predators." the small device said.

"Huh... so that's a Kakuna..." Logan said to himself. As of late, he was becoming increasingly aware of his lack of experience as a trainer. He shrugged, took a pokeball out of his backpack, and threw it at one of the Kakuna in the tree, which reacted quickly with a stinger attack at Logan's position. Had reflex not taken over and he not moved, Logan would have had a Kakuna stuck in the side of his face.

Thoroughly surprised, he backed away and looked at his Charmander. "Charmander, attack!" Logan shouted, no real attack in mind.

Charmander nodded, and shot a short supply of flames out of its mouth. This was some kind of fire attack... Logan wondered if Charmander could always have done it instead of simply scratching.

The Kakuna took the flames head-on, but faltered and eventually gave up in submission. Logan picked up his pokeball again, and threw it at the Kakuna, which was caught without much struggle.

Grinning once more, Logan hugged his little fiery lizard and patted his Caterpie on the head, returning the two pokemon to their balls, and placing them on his belt. Logan stood up once more, now done of this forest and its surprises.

They were smiling, and Larvirat was lively as ever hopping up and down, and Rattata was running about just enjoying the fresh air. Wurmple seemed to be kind of sad, but mostly uninjured from the prior fight.

"Whats a matter little buddy?" Cody asked his Wurmple

Wurm Wurm! It replied as it scampered off a little right as if it was trying to tell Cody that he wanted to be followed. He then picked the Wurmple up on his shoulder and called his other two pokemon back into their balls. The wurmple seemed happy with its position on Cody's shoulder.

After traveling for a while he came upon a nest of Silcoon and Cascoon.

"Are those your friends?" Cody asked
The Wurmple nodded.

"How about you come with me and we get you evolved" Cody said.
The wurmple nodded to show it agreed.

Larvitar come on out.

"Ok ready Wurmple? Fight with larviatar and we'll get you evolved" Cody asked. "Don't hurt him." he wispered into Larvitars ear.

The two began to fight then Wurmple began to glow and shot some string up into the air.
Look he's evolving.
Wurmple Became Silcoon.

Cody returned both of his pokemon and headed back to Pewter where he stopped in the pokemon center for a rest.

Jessica sat by herself in the PokèCenter waiting for Nurse Joy to bring out her Pokèmon. A few tears still trickled down her face; she hoped that bird hand hurt her beloved friends.

“Why was I so stupid? We should have run away!” she whispered to herself. She looked up and saw her Kippy and Bear bounding towards her, followed by a Blissey holding a PokèBall. When they reach her the Blissey hand her the Ball and an Egg.

“Bliiiisey!” it said to her with a smile on its face. Jessica had a confused look on her face; this Egg wasn’t a normal Blissey egg it looked like a Pokèmon egg.

“But I didn’t have a-” Jessica began, but the Blissey walked away leaving the PokèBall and the Egg on her lap. “Oh well…I suppose I’ll see what hatches from it…” With that she stood up and walked out of the PokèCenter towards the woods so she could show Logan what the Blissey had given her. As she walked she examine it, it had blue circles on it, she put it in her backpack and scooped up Kippy. Bear hopped onto her shoulder and they walked into the woods together.

Seeing that the group he approached had quickly separated, Ben started walking towards what he thought was the exit to Viridian Forest. Soon enough he discovered the gate building leading from the forest to the small field separating Pewter from the forest. Ben walked around the field via the roadway, and was soon in Pewter City. The first place he headed was the large Pokemon Center on the outskirts of town. He entered and looked around, not sure of what to do. He head heard that you should go here to have your Pokemon healed.

He looked around the room, and saw a nurse standing behind a counter, and behind that was a large machine. He decided to ask her where you can get your Pokemon healed.

“Where can I get my Pokemon healed?” He asked.

“Right over here. But first you have to give me their Pokeballs,” She replied.

Ben reached to his belt and pulled out the two Pokeballs. Ekaris (Now the name of Mah Ralts, because I don’t remember what its evolutions are called) was still riding on his backpack. He handed the balls over to the nurse, and she in turn placed them onto the machine. A few minutes later, she handed them back. Ben glanced backwards out the window and saw it was starting to get dark.

“Erm, do you have any place where I could .. you know . . sleep?”

In response she gave him a set of keys and pointed towards a hallway. Ben looked the keys and walked towards the hallway. Soon enough he found room 4, the one that had been assigned to him. He opend the door and looked around.

The first thing he noticed was that there were two bunk beds. Ben walked forward to bed on the right, and laid down on the lower bunk. Ekaris had already jumped off his backpack and was sitting on the bed. Ben grabbed the two Pokeballs he had on his waist. He didn’t remember which Pokemon was in which ball, so he grabbed, expanded it, and tossed it onto the floor. In another bright flash of light Weedle was crawling around on the floor, seemingly surprised at its new surroundings. It wasn’t startled however when it saw Ben sitting on the bed staring at it. Soon enough it climbed into his bunk and sat underneath the mattress above Ben’s head.

Cody arrived at the pokemon center in Pewter just as it was getting dark. He had his pokemon healed, and asked Nurse Joy where he could sleep.

She tossed him some keys and said room four, there's already a traner in there, but thats why there are bunk beds.

"Hey, my name is Cody, who are you?"
"My name is Ben, I guess you're staying here?"

"Yeah! The Nurse said i had to stay here with you. I guess I'll jump up top and grab a nap." Cody said.

Cody released his pokemon so thy could sleep, and Silcoon near instantly attached itself to the upper corner of the room.
As he was climbing up the ladder to get into bed a Weedle came out from under the matress startling Cody.

Cody then climbed into bed and went to sleep, dreaming of his Gym battle in the morning.

i had decided to go back to the poke center upon stepping in i saw jessica but seeing as i didnt want to talk to anyone i fled quickly into the forest where i found another oddish
thinking it was a trap i fled from there and went into the town and wnet seeking the gym only hoping i could beat brock


i was about to walk into the gym when my rival came running out with his wingull

me: lost eh
rival: shutup
me: i dont think i will let you go heal
rival: OUT OF MY WAY
me: no
*he returned wingull to its pokeball*

he caught me off guard with a quick and powerful blow to the nose, then he did a leg sweep and was pinning me to the ground with his knees

me: you *cough, spitting up blood* caught me off guard....
i then took my feet and grabbed his head and threw him against the wall to the gym
we were beating each other hard
then the police came and i blacked out from a broken nose





i woke up the next morning in jail with my rival in the cell across from me he had called his mom while i said to find some trainer that came from pallet town may they would know me i just hoped i was lucky enough for someone to know me

As Jessica walked through the forest she noticed it started to get dark quickly. When she turned around to go back a large grey and green insect sat in their way making clicking noises.

“Go Pidgeotto!” Jessica yelled and threw the birds PokèBall. When the bird appeared it flew straight at Jessica and started pecking her, “Stop it!!!!” She yelled and sent the bird back into its PokèBall. Bear jumped off of her shoulder and tackled the insect.

“Bear use scratch!” Bear scratched the insect which quickly hardened its carapace and the scratch didn’t really affect it. The insect scratched at Bear but it dodged it, “Tackle!” Bear slammed itself into the side of the Bug sending it flying into a tree knocking it out.

“Let’s get outta here!” Jessica gripped Kippy tighter and ran out of the forest towards the PokèCenter in Pewter, followed by Bear. She flipped open her Dex and found the Pokèmon she had just battled.

“Nincada: It makes its nest at the roots of a mighty tree. Using its whisker-like antennae, it probes its surroundings in the pitch-black darkness of soil.” Jessica shuddered, she hated bugs. She burst through the door of the PokèCenter and asked the receptionist for a room.

“Room 5 please” Jessica took the Key that Joy gave her and went to the room she had pointed at. As she opened the door Kippy and bear burst past her and into the room and jumped on the single bed. She smiled as she walked in and closed the door. She quickly changed into her pink Pajamas and lay in the bed. She pulled the Egg from her backpack and set it beside her, it seemed to shiver, she wrapped it in a pink blanket she found in her backpack and brought it close to her. Kippy and Bear lay Next to her cooing as the curled up together and fell asleep.

“What am I gonna do with you?” Jessica asked looking at Pidgeotto’s PokèBall. Obviously it wasn’t going to listen to her, but she didn’t want to release it just yet. Perhaps she needed more experience. She fell asleep with thoughts of fighting Brock in the gym.

as i lay there in jail i wondered which direction my life was going then i sat up and looked across the hall and saw my rival was gone then an officer came and let me out
officer: bails paid
me: by who?
kerran: last time i save you

i then went out into the cool crisp air a perfect night for catching pokes
but i never found any so i went to sleep by a tree by the poke center i figured it would be the best place to have some rest



i woke up later that night to find that my bag was missing
i first thought a pokemon took it then i saw to shady characters walking into the night i started to follow them it happened to betwo guys looking for a clefariy
when turned back the road was gone
then i turned around once more and i was in a cave
what was happening? then i blacked out and woke up on the floor of the pokemon center

nurse: what were you doing out there?
me: well i was following to guys that i thought had stolen my bag* see it in the corrner* ahh there it is but when i turned around the road was gone then i turned back around and i was in a cave then i blacked out
nurse: oh then you were attacked by a drowsee, but they are not usually in this area....
me: thank you for watching me while i was asleep oh and by the way what time is it?
nurse: 2am i suggest you get some rest
me: i will be fine

Jessica woke up facing a fuzzy blue creature sitting on its fuzzy tail staring at her.

“Where did you come from?” She sat up and looked around for the Egg; it was on the floor, the top of it cracked off. She squealed and picked up the tiny Pokèmon and sat it in her lap. She reached into her backpack on the floor and pulled out her mirror, and her PokèDex. She flipped open the mirror and scowled at her appearance, her hair was a mess and her makeup wasn’t perfect like it usually was. She set the mirror down and flipped open her PokèDex which chimed and a picture of the Pokèmon before her appeared.

“Azurill: This Pokèmon’s tail is large and bouncy. It is packed full of the nutrients this Pokèmon needs to grow. Azurill can be seen bouncing and playing on its big, rubbery tail.” She closed the Dex and looked at her Azurill and giggled in delight, it was so cute!

“I think I’ll call you….Ayza!” She scooped up her Azurill and hugged it tightly; it made a purring type noise, its large tail waggling.

Kippy and Bear walked into the room with big treats in their mouths and jumped onto the bed. Ayza waddled over to the two and sniffed at their food; the Mudkip and Sentret looked at each other and quickly devoured their food. Ayza looked up and Jessica who giggled and got out of bed. She quickly changed out of her pajamas and took a shower and climbed into a pink Halter-Top top and short jean shorts. She blow dried her blonde hair and put on her makeup, she looked beautiful. She scooped up Ayza and walked out of the room followed by Kippy and Bear who seemed to almost be talking to each other.

“Where did my Mudkip and Sentret get those treats? I want to grab a few for later on” she asked Nurse Joy.

“Just follow that corridor and you can get some food for you as well as your Pokèmon” Joy smiled. Jessica followed the directions and walked to what looked like a cafeteria; she didn’t want to eat the food, because she wanted something more…cooked. Instead she grabbed seven of the treats and handed one of the to Ayza who seemed sad cause it didn’t get one before. She walked back around the front and went to the desk.

“Here take this” Jessica handed nurse joy 50 dollars, “I know we don’t have to pay but I feel like I should.”

“Thank you and I hope we see you again, with healthy Pokèmon that is” the nurse smiled and Jessica left. She walked outside and looked for a restaurant where she and her Pokèmon could grab a bite to eat before heading towards the gym. She found one called the “The PokèChow: We Serve Humans too!” she figured that would have to do and walked inside. A woman sat her and her Pokèmon in a booth and asked then what they would like to drink.

“Can I get a bowl of apple juice for my Mudkip…um…a bowl of tomato juice for my Sentret, a small bowl of milk for my Azurill and a strawberry smoothie for me” Jessica said examining her Pokèmon, Ayza sat in Jessica’s lap, the other two across from her. As the waitress walked away Kippy shot several small bubbles at her and smiled in the cute way that it does.

*rewind just a tad for storytelling purposes*

Logan burst out of a bush out of the Viridian Forest, a swarm of mad Beedrill behind him. He ran as fast as his legs could carry, leaving a small cloud of dust behind him as he tried to follow the road, but tripped on a root in the middle of the road and fell head first into the ground. The pokeball containing his Charmander, however, was dislodged and miraculously popped over, the fiery lizard moving to protect his master.

Logan flipped over slowly, his Charmander standing bravely between him and the mad Beedrills. Just as his pokemon was about to let loose a firey breath, an Machamp followed by a large, rugged man picked up a large boulder and threw it at the flying bugs, driving them away.

The man approached Logan, offering a hand of support. Logan took it, standing up and dusting himself off. He picked up his lost pokeball, and looked at the man.

"Thanks for the rescue, er..." Logan started.

"Bruno. My name is Bruno." the man finished.

"Nice to meet you, Bruno. I'm Logan. That's an amazing pokemon you have."

"Oh, Machamp?", Bruno began, laughing. "Yeah, he's alright. Hey, aren't you going to Pewter City?"

"Yeah, I'm going to the gym there." Logan replied.

"Tell Brock he owes me ten dollars. Anyway, I know the best view in all of Kanto."

"Mind showing me?" Logan said, mystified.

"Not at all. Follow me." Bruno said, running off towards a low cliff, his Machamp following. Logan struggled to keep up.

When Logan reached the point where Bruno had stopped, the sun was already going down. They were at the top of the cliff, where many large, flat rocks detailed the landscape.

"Back when I was a trainer, I would come up here and reflect upon the day in the evenings and plan my day in the mornings. I would also bond with my pokemon up here, teaching them to lift the boulders. Speaking of which, they make good beds." Bruno said, his eyes lighting up in memory.

"'Back when you were a trainer'?" Logan asked, bewildered at the statement.

"Yeah. You don't recognize me? I'm Bruno of the Elite Four!" Bruno said, laughing.

Logan's face lit up in embarassment, looking away. "I'm new to pokemon... don't know too much about the region, either. I was born in New Bark Town."

"Johto boy, eh? I knew a few people over there. Well, Logan, it was really neat to meet you. Your Charmander is coming along nicely, but I don't know fire pokemon too well. I need to get back to training. I hope I see you again in the Pokemon League." Bruno said, backing up, and then taking a running jump off the cliff, his Machamp following, and Logan waving at his new friend.

Stretching out, and placing his pokeballs into his backpack, he laid out on one of the boulders, the heat it accumulated during the day soothing Logan's muscles. He yawned deeply, more tired than he could ever remember in the past, and closed his eyes in deep sleep.
