Anyone who calls another person a noobie on anything related to the computer is a very big nerd. That is excluding Geno because Geno is the only one who uses noobie in the way it was meant to be used and he doesn't insult people either. Also this thread doesn't really belong here. Can you give me a good definition of a nerd? I mean I know what it is, but different minds might think of the word nerd as different things.

I'm a nerd for the specific reason that I'm actually studying for AP tests. Ugh. :/
Oh, and welcome to WB and have a donut :donut:. Also, this thread was moved to a more suitable forum. :)

Id say the stereotype of a nerd is:
The stereotypical "nerd" Has thick glasses, tucks his/her (girl nerd...?) shirt in, spends every waking moment on the computer or studying things like rocket science, computer programming etc. Also, uses extremely complex/nerdish internet acrinymns and big words in every day vocab. (basically speaks like a stereotypical british person from colonial times)
I might have exageratted a bit, and remember, this is the stereotype, not what I think.

The only thing that I have in common is that I wear glasses but they are pretty small and thin. I am getting contacts soon anyways so I am not a nerd.

I wear glasses (but not thick, rimmed ones).
I spend 10+ hours on the computer every week (really not a lot...I think...)
I know a lot about computers (except about installing memory and video cards apparently...software is more my thing)
I download music from NES games and listen to it in my free time.
I don't have a girlfriend.
Yeah...I'm pretty close to a nerd. But I'm thinking just more of a dork (not a dorc :p), than a nerd.
Hey Feng, kinda funny thing, studying for AP tests. I had two this week and didn't study for one of them, and I think I did quite good on it...of course, I would have bombed the AP Eng&Lang if I hadn't studied...I might have still bombed it...but I'm fairly confident I did well...

I hate to be arrogant, but I'm not really a nerd, in my view.
Let's see:
- I'm about the 3rd most popular kid in the grade.
- I'm on the high school baseball team.
- I have a girlfriend.
- I don't have glasses (if that's the sterotype nowadays).
Gogo me! ;)

Despite my somewhat dorkiness, I can hang out with just about anyone at my school. Lets say I'm a people person and most people like me.

Your fat and tall?!
And nerds getting bad grades is just them being "too good for anyone else in the class." Nerds are also generally arrogant and sniffly things. They also dress, alternatively, from everyone else. Like out of style clothing or dresses very clean-cut.

Thankies much for the compliment! I try to use language as it was MEANT to be, not how it's TURNED OUT to be... If you understand my logic, that is.
Anyways, am I? It depends.
+ I don't wear glasses or contacts
-- I am Saluditorian of my class, showing how smart I am.
+ I've had girlfriends before
-- One of them I met online
+ I have a job
-- When I'm not at that job, I'm here
+ I don't know where the word Pr0n originated
-- I do know where computer originated (Thank you Mr. Babbage. If you don't know what I mean, I believe his name was 'Charles Babbage' or something of that nature. He's credited with the first computer)
+ I want to make something of my life by going to college
-- My major is in a 'geek' field. Computers x.x
That should tell you about how I stand. Somewhere in the middle. Oh, and I'm no Mr. popular, but I'm not dirt low. o.O

Geek? Nah. Somewhat geeky? Absolutely :D.
I guess I'm somewhat normal, I'm not like Mr. So Cool, but I'm not dirt bottom. Though I haven't had a girlfriend, but then again I'm way to shy to ask and I don't fell the necessity for one right now...I'm okay in school, my best marks are in Comm Tech, History ( :shiftyr: ), Science, and some other things. Uhh, I wanna own my own Paintball Arena when I'm older...or just some business of my own...and I don't know much about programming, but that's okay my gaming habits more then make up for that (go go XBOX!). So I guess I'm somewhat geek but more normal-ish.

Dictionary Terms:
nerd also nurd ( P ) Pronunciation Key (nûrd)
n. Slang
A foolish, inept, or unattractive person.
A person who is single-minded or accomplished in scientific or technical pursuits but is felt to be socially inept.
---
geek ( P ) Pronunciation Key (gk)
n. Slang
A person regarded as foolish, inept, or clumsy.
A person who is single-minded or accomplished in scientific or technical pursuits but is felt to be socially inept.
A carnival performer whose show consists of bizarre acts, such as biting the head off a live chicken.
(I suppose Ozzie or Mike Tyson or whoever is a geek then ;))
---
dork ( P ) Pronunciation Key (dôrk)
n.
Slang. A stupid, inept, or foolish person
I'm not really a geek or w/e. I have friends, hang out with them regularily, play some sports(badminton, Badminton, BADMINTON! >.<), etc. I have an on and off job too, going to work a lot during the summer and after exams (La gov't exam is going to be pretty bad, didn't learn a thing...). The thing is, so many people are pretty inept at computers in my town/school. I just seem to know a lot because I'm good at interpreting and looking around, usually finding out what to do. Whenever I'm not doing much, I stay in my room and do h/w while watching tv and going on the computer. It's easy to browse forums while doing other things. Plus I stay up pretty late, so there isn't much else to do.
BTW, Charles Babbage created the first computer, it filled a room. I'm pretty sure it was something called the ENIAC, or something like that.
-Gogo Infopro! :)
Whoa, I just realized that I still have that powerpoint. Charles Babbage was known as the father of computing "for his contributions to the basic design of the computer through his Analytical machine. His previous Difference Engine was a special purpose device intended for the production of tables. "

-- I am Saluditorian of my class, showing how smart I am.
For someone who's soooo smart, I'm rather surprised you don't know how to spell "Salutatorian." :smirk:
By dictionary definition, I'm none of those! :)
However, by common interpretation, I take a little from each category, I believe.
My hobbies include:
- Sitting at this computer all day, working on a website.
- Sitting in front of the TV watching Sci-Fi shows (Doctor Who and Stargate SG-1).
- Drama (all aspects).
- Speech team (next year).
- Not doing math homework at home because I do it in class because I don't pay attention to the teacher because I get an A/A+ pretty much regardless. :)
- I've watched the first Star Wars Trilogy (ANH, TESB, ROTJ) upward of 80 times, easily.
- I've watched the other two upward of 30 times.
- This summer: Composing a short symphonic suite for my Senior Recognition Band Concert next year.
- Arranging various songs to Tenor, Baritone, Bass vocals (Men's A Cappella).
Need I go on?

- Drama (all aspects). BIG -
- Speech team (next year). No speech team, but wouldn't do it: -
- Not doing math homework at home because I do it in class because I don't pay attention to the teacher because I get an A/A+ pretty much regardless. :) +Same
- I've watched the first Star Wars Trilogy (ANH, TESB, ROTJ) upward of 80 times, easily. -I've seen it... maybe 3 times

-> I really like programming. Javascript, HTML, C++, and my TI-83+ using the TI basic
-> Use big words, but not intentionally
-> In 9th grade, and I don't recall a single test that I have studied for...
-> Went to Camp Caen in Ann Arbor, Michigan. That is were i found StarCraft
-> Like modding SC almost as much as playing it ^-^
-> Don't think i have ever had a true "girlfriend." I have had friends that were girls, though...
-> I have a really hard time using bad grammar...
-> I am pretty good at spelling words correctly
-> Have no idea how Geno learned to spell...that form of government...but I know that it is a form of government. And how to pronounce it
-> Like these arrow things...
-> Speed a good deal of time at this website
So, you decide. ^-^
