On unstupid browsers that can read CSS correctly, the menu stays put by the "fixed" command. In IE you have to use JS to fix it. Because it's a retarded browser.

it might have browser-specific config, but on my opera9 it shifts around.

For me it shifts the first time it loads in the page. Then it stays fixed with the view.

I think it's because of the way AJ has it detect the browser. If it's Firefox, it gets position: fixed. With any other browser it gets the JS fix. It might be better to actually test for support of fixed positioning and base how the menu is handled on that, so that it is displayed properly in all browsers that can support it.
