What do you plan to use this dl/uplaod center for? Do you want anyone to be able to upload files, or just yourself and select others? How big will the files be, and how many people will be accessing them? Are you willing to spend money to set it up?

pafileDB (http://www.phparena.net/scripts.php?script=pafiledb)

If you can run php/mysql, then you can run this. pafiledb is a damn fine download center, and allows you to setup different users who can have access to upload.

1) maps as in Starcraft or Warcraft maps?
2) yes what, yes only you will upload files or yes anyone can upload files
3) 10-20 GB total storage, but how about individual file sizes? less than 100 people meaning less than 100 people will download the files or less than 100 people will upload?
4) what's your budget?

On a side note, images can be freely hosted at http://www.imageshack.us

Uhm, Hello? Am I being ignored here?

http://www.phparena.net/scripts.php?script=pafiledb

I used that for a long long time for BlizzSCUM members. Its very versatile, and probably does everything you need it to ice.

PLUS ITS FREE.

Don't ignore me :(

Neo, im wondering how your hosting service works, is there a how-to on those scripts, the ones from www.celerondude.com (http://www.celerondude.com/page_php)
Or you can just explain in the simplest way scraching the surface:)

Most mature web applications are setup where you extract the files in a web accessible directory, sometimes create a MySQL database by hand if it's not done automatically, optionally tweak a config file, and go through a web based installer.

To use either script that has been linked to in this thread, I would suggest having at least a basic knowledge of how to set up a website and some VERY basic knowledge of PHP (at least know what it is and what it looks like - don't need to know how to write it). You should know what FTP is and how to use it, as well as have a general idea of how to put files on a web server so they are accesible from a browser.

If you understand how to set this up yourself, I recomend Bluehost Web Hosting (http://www.tkqlhce.com/click-1824751-10383360) which is what I use to host www.microbyteproductions.com -- they charge about 8 dollars per month and offer 15 GB of storage space and 400 GB of bandwidth per month. They support PHP, MySQL, and all that other good stuff and their customer support is very good. The only catch is that you have to pay for at least a year of hosting up front.

If you're not sure how to set up your own website then you might look for a free alternative such as a file hosting site like www.filefront.com for larger files, or www.imageshack.us for images.

I used Neo's upload software for personal use, and it's very easy to set up if you have the right resources. You need a hosting service, or one of your own. Then, you just extract the files to wherever your files are being hosted, open up the install.exe via your web browser and you're off.

Alas, I'm unable to use Kupatrix.org's uploader to work for me. I can only upload files under the "anonymous" privacy pledge. :P
Anyone can help me? What I must do/have for it to run properly (allowing cookies hasn't done it)? :concern:

Are you talking about it not working for you as a user, or the script as a whole?

As a user, Neo. I logged in, it said it accepted (a loooong time ago) and then when I try to log in every time later on, it doesn't show any change than it's previous state, of when I 1st registered.

Not sure why. It shows that your account is fine :/

What browser are you using? Have you cleared cookies from up.kupatrix.org, what username are you using?

Hmm, I've setled my FF to cleanse all cookies from previous sessions (even for allowed sites). I hope that would do the trick. :o In doubt, can you please send my pass' in (so I can compare it with my *.txt file for those)?
Thanks.

I can change your pass, but I don't have access to it. It is encrypted after all :p

Nvm, then. I had to try, at least. Thanks, anyway. I'll try again anyway. I might find where I goofed the mistake in when was setting the pass'. ;)

Well I can still change the password and then you can change it yourself to something personal :p

If you wouldn't mind doing that... than thanks. :) But maybe the rest of this might be better if spent in the PM realm.
