View Full Version : Ripping DVDs...
Right, I've been looking at Nero, but when I try to rip a DVD, it just askes me if I want to copy it to another DVD. Which I don't since want to make some of those funky music video things, al a Youtube.
Any help? I'd rather just do it through Nero (I've got version 6) than dl stuff oft the internet, since I don't trust that strange place...

Hmm isnt copying DVD's illegal, atleast when you've rented it..
With Nero you can just copy it to another dvd cd youll need that special version of CloneCD DVDsomething. You can allways make so called "backups" with Alcohol120% (for example) and you can mount them on virtual drives, but that takes a lot of space on the HD.
Uh oh i remembered... duh, DVD Ripper ot SmartRipper
They aren't rented, I own them.
Thanks for the input though.

Easy- DVDshrink (http://pyrom.net/temp/dvdshrink32setup.zip) (I hosted the setup for you) will pull the video off the DVD, though it's up to you to edit the movie itself (I have a good tool for edit if you want it, PM me for a link)

Good choice of program for backing up DVD's Markpyro. I use it for my collection so I can put it my HD that I have for DVD's Back-ups. So if my kid's ruin the back-up I can always go in and make another DVD back-up with the copy that I have on my HD. I want to get away from using DVD back-ups complety and get a Terabit drive and put a back-up of all my DVD's on it. Then get me a kick but system and use it as my media center. With a firewire back bone it would rock and it would be all in DIGITAL!:D
DVD Decryptor is also useful, but generally, DVD Shrink is the best and only proggy youll ever need.

Keep in mind that DVD Shrink will create VOB files which aren't normally openable by video editing programs. You might need to use a program to convert the VOB files to something like AVI so you can import them into your favorite video editor. Personally, I use "Super DVD Ripper" to convert the files to AVI.

What I use is DVD FabDecryptor to rip the DVD to the computer. I then use DVD Shrink to shrink it to fit to a blank DVD, and then use Nero to burn it to a new disc.

I don't use a DVD decryptor I just use DVD shrink then Nero to burn it. Latley I have just been Shrinking them and putting them on my HD. I'll burn them when I get some more DVD's.

DVD Shrink can rip the DVDs?
Yessir, I've found I only need DVDDecryptor for really seriously protected dvds... and even then, I've only personally used it like twice out of the many times I've ripped.
