Pirates of the Carribian(Sorry for the spelling) is a very well done movie, I think it is better then the first one. The third one will release in May of 2007. It's funny and a good story line. I give it 5 out of 5. A must see!

How did you see it? It's not released until midnight.

A few other non-USers said they saw it today as well. I guess it was released worldwide before it was released here?

I thought the first one was overhyped, but this one looks like it might be good. Could be this weekend's movie for me.

pre-releases happen, on select theatres. generally they arent advertised, just invites or groups.

I still have to wait another fifteen days to see it here. And I think I may have to make some new friends to go see it with. Hm.

Pirates of the Caravan? Wow, that sounds exciting. =p

Anyway, I liked the first movie much. Perhaps it did recieve a little too much hype, but there were some truly golden moments in the film, and the score was incredible. Quite possibly still one of the most fun movie scores I've played in orchestra (although Psycho reigns supreme in that category).

I dunno, sequels tend to let me down so I don't hold out much hope for it.

However, besides the movie Pirates! (which...well..was not what I expected when I was told to watch it) and the original Pirates of the Caribbean, there aren't many good movies about pirates that I know of.

Though, I guess most pirates didn't face the undead, so I don't know if I should even count PC.

Time zones.

It is really good, worth a watch. It was also definitly funnier than the first one, as far as I can remeber and all the pirates looked pretty damned cool.

I really suggest you re-watch the first one again though if you want to fully understand it, it doesn't give you many reminders of what has gone before and carries pretty much straight on.

*spoiler alert for Pirates of the Caribean 3*

I am looking forward to seeing what Barbosa has to offer for the remaining crew of the Black Pearl as a protagonist (supposedly) this time. ;)

Saw it this weekend. Pretty entertaining. A little disjointed, but overall definately worth it. I'd see it again.

FYI: The first one beats it hands down though.

Not too good. Might be worth to see on DVD, but I wouldn't want to watch it in theaters if I knew it was going to be this bad. For those of you who haven't seen it, this movie and the original are not the same in terms of how good they are. The original is much better.

Theyre doing what the Matrix did. the 2nd movie is split into 2 and extended a bit so that they can get more money. but as long as they are entertaining i really dont care

Don't say they're doing what the Matrix did...because the Matrix sequels were some of the worst movies ever.

Hopefully I'll be able to see it when I go back up to camp on a day off, if not before then. It looks pretty good, of course, there is the always apparent sequel desease.

Really? I didn't think they were bad at all. Actually, I thought they were pretty good. Then again I'm not a really hardcore fan -- I know many of the hardcore fans were all 'zomg they are teh sucks' and stuff.

Pirates of the Carribian has an adult version as well, not many people knew that I bet. even thus it has high level of sex scene, but the movie was well produced.

I will not post the triler up, as it might get delete anyway.

Dude, I've seen it, and Jenna Jameson has nothing to do with Pirates of the Carribean.

Hate to say it, but it does smack of the way the Matrix sequels were done. Although invariably better, the seconds Pirates film does seem a little tagged on. They perhaps should have left it as a single film, leaving it more with a classic status, as opposed to a sour taste in the mouth if the sequels go badly.

Also, Johnny Depp wasn't as good as he was in the first one. When you analyse it after, you realise it was quite flawed in some other respects too.

Still worth a watch though.

sucky matrix sequals wouldn't mean that this would suck too right? :(

it's coming out here in Manila tomorrow, and 13 in Singapore. :)

No, just because the Wachowski brothers can't pull it of, doesn't mean Disney can't.

But heed my warning! *Ghosty noises*

I wanted to go to a midnight release, because I could have seen it 2 hours before all the people at home, but my cousin wimped out last minute because she wanted to be all sappy and shit and go see it with her boyfriend. Bleh.

I saw it yesterday. It was long. I thought it was good, but not my favorite movie, and it would be a while before I watch it again (if ever). I guess I just don't get the hype.

I recently got back from vacation and saw pirates during it. Since i was in a relatively small town the screen in the theater was much smaller than most. maybe that had to do with how i took the movie. Personally i thought it was entertaining, but much worse than the first. I guess this could also be because it really sets up the third and maybe is just one of those boring middle movies. meh.

That was my favorite line in the whole movie. I even got out a pen and wrote it down. Made my friends think I'm weird. Which I am.

Kiera Knightly is a full justification for 'weird' behaviour.

I mean, she was hot when she was dressed as a boy...that's just so wrong...

...but so right...:P

*Semi-Spoiler Alert*

I particularly liked the new villain, Davy Jones. This second movie is the first Disney film where the villain is not slain or defeated - although his heart gets captured, Davy Jones is alive and well at the end of the movie. Plus, with the scenes where Davy Jones is brought to tears by tales of love, I think this is no ordinary Disney villain. I'm hoping he somehow becomes a protagonist in the third movie.

Davy Jones was completely CGI, in case you were wondering. No prosthetics. That surprised me when I read it on the internet.

In an interview (http://movies.about.com/od/piratesofthecaribbean2/a/piratesbn062906_2.htm), Bill Nighy (Davy Jones) has some interesting (but incoherent) things to say about Pirates of the Caribbean 3:
“If I tell you that they will fire me, I think. I do get…there are some extraordinary… Pirates 3 is nuts, very nuts. It is completely nuts. The story and the plot are completely insane. It is brilliant. It is convoluted to the point of… It is so funny. It is not like comedies where you get lots… They make a feature of the fact that it is so funny. It is funny that it is part of the joke. It is brilliant, but I don’t think I am supposed to tell you anything about it. Except there is one bit… Nah, I can’t tell you (laughing).”

I did not like POTC2 at all. Okay, I seem to be the only person who have said that so bluntly. It was nowhere near the power of the original. The storyline seemed to jump around everywhere, and it lost all sense of realism. Even fantasy films have to make some sense.

Johnny Dept does not do as good a performance this time around, and Davy Jones does not have the same ability as a villain as Barbossa (Rush). The (good) joke ratio has been changed too much as well.

I will still watch the 3rd one though... ;)

I think they tried to make Jones a little bit of a 'tortured soul' kinda guy. I agree though, Depp's performance at the start of the film was awful, by his standards. It picked up later, but at the start of the film, he was more like an impersonation of Sparrow.

Still not a bad movie. Just smacks of Matrix-Trilogiesquness (w00t, coinage of a word)

I just watched this movie, and I thought it was just a decent movie. It wasn't that great, nor was it a bad movie. It was well done, and I'd definitely recommend for people to go see it, but you won't be missing much if you wait, I guess.

I have to admit, this is one of the most original movies I've seen in a long time. A lot of the sequences were original. They had that drama / comedy thing going, which worked out really well.

I too, saw it yesterday. I found a large chunk of the movie pretty good, especially the new avatar of Norrington (A character who I found quite interesting in the first movie.)

But the fact that it didn't have a definite ending did much to rob me of a great deal of satisfaction. That I have to wait nearly a year for the conclusion is no pleasant thought.
