yo guys, I am fairly new to the forums, and although I have asked for help i dont get many replies, but thats alright. Currently, i am looking for a few people to help make a mod for SC: BW---> starcraft extended. If any of you guys wanna help, and have experiece modding, please PM me. If you ask what starcraft extended is, well its starcraft extended...

10 new mp maps
at least 1 new character for each team with new models
unit changes--->aka, weapons/stats/color

we need some ideas before we get started...

my little ideas...
terran changes possibly
---------------------------
marine---------ability to lay spider mines
firebat---------shields/ increased damage with flamethrower
ghost----------new weapon--- a burst rifle of some sort/ now a scout/detector
goliath--------different weapon.... a autocannon that has tracer type bullets/ new weapon graphics
wraith------ chaingun/original autocannon for ground/ ability to call a nuke strike

New terran units( my thoughts)

terran engineer---- ability to lay chemical mines/ability to repair buildings/single fire rockets as a weapon...
terran blitzkreig unit/special forces unit------ faster than marine... little bit stronger weapon than marine.... regenerates health.... cloakable

New terran weapons(my thoughts)
==========
chemical mine----- emits a green gas when a enemy comes near it.. killing them


and thats some of my thoughts for the terrrans

First, I would like to say: almost all those ideas are very cool and extremely easy to do. A few are more complicated but cool.

maybe for the ghost, have a rapid fire weapon.

I have another cool idea that i was going to use in my own mod, have dropships be able to land, liftoff. If possible it would be cool to it make so that can only load when landed. maybe have more/ cooler looking (heavier) armor too.

to make it do that wouldn't you just have to take the build button off the starport and insert it as a building that can lift off/ land?

by the way, i think mine fields would enhance the starcraft experience....

actually, you would use iceCC to give it a liftoff/land animation (which I can do) then give it a button to liftoff/land.

If you didnt give it an animation to liftoff/land, the game would crash when you lifted off/landed because it wouldnt have an animation and so wouldnt know what to do for that action.

ahhh...

do you know how to give scv's a suicide command.... but give them an explosion like the siege tanks arcilite cannon? instead of just disapearing? also to change the suicide icon to look like a nuke going off instead of a scourges' mouth?

if you do, that would be awesome, could you do it and send it to me?

i will compile what the teams got done, and send it to each one of you... and then we can get some imput and continue working on the project

if anyone wants to be a tester, just ask ;)

I really dont know much about making units suicide... im sure there are some old threads here with questions about that, so im sure someone knows!

I don't know much about suicide attacks, but if you were successful in making the unit disappear in a suicide-like attack, you could make a new suicide attack using A3 or A-Zero. Just change its animation to Arclite Shock Cannon, and changes it icon to Nuclear Strike(I think that what it was called). If you edit the old attack, than the unit that previously used it would be looking weird doing a siege tank attack instead of it previous attack.

EDIT: Didn't see the second part of your post. Do you want it to do suicide as an attack or as a command? I might be able to pull it off.

I did everything that you wanted, there is only one slight flaw: the game crashes whenever the SCV attacks. I will continue experimenting with this, but does anyone know why?

Okay, well, to make a unit suicide, you need to have a suicide weapon and a suicide animation. Suicide weapon is made with Arsenal III, you assign it to the unit the same way you would assign any weapon.

For a suicide animation, you basically copy the scourge's one and modify it so the graphics look just like the Siege Tank's explosion.

Finally, to make the button look how you want it, edit the button's icon for the weapon in Arsenal III.

no, I just did the SCV thing. It would be impossible to do all of your ideas in 20 minutes.

what i am wondering, is why aren't more people interested in modding than in map making? modding, if successful can be a awesome addition to the game

Yes, modding lets you be the game designer, doesn't it? The reason more people are interested in map making is modding (apparently) is harder. I've seen hundreds of people give up because they can't do what they want. That's always been my view on that.

when i save a iscript.bin i should put it in scripts folder right, this is how my mod folders looks with sub-directories below it, is this the right set up?

Of course, I overestimated my own judgement. I hate using ICE and StarGraft, and only use them if I can't at all avoid them.

How about making supply depots be able to lift of? Ive always hated them, because they took up so much space.

If you wanted to make balance to the game, for the supply depots I would suggest making another version of them that costed twice as much and provided 2.5x more supplies. Which would cost 200 mins and provide 20 supply. Or you just replace them with this.
