View Full Version : A Gamer's Gift

My cousin's birthday is coming up, and we've always been close, so I've rather kept a tradition of buying him gifts every year. (He's turning 16)
He plays video games similar to my interests: WoW, Warcraft 3, (a bit of) Starcraft, Baldur's Gate, Fable, and Halo are the games that he's been playing recently. He plays often with friends, so games that are single player are good but having multiplayer as well is a plus.
I've also been looking into T-shirts from CAD and QC (he reads both comics), and I was thinking about ordering one from there, but they're a bit expensive and I havent made up my mind.
Along with those, he enjoys a good book, but doesnt read as much and would most likely only read it if it was very interesting. Science Fiction and Fantasy with a lot of action.
I'm trying to keep my price range around $30, $50 as a max.
Any ideas are welcome, I'm in a rut as for ideas, and I want to do something nice. Thanks :)

If he really enjoys comics (IE X-men) Pickup the 1-13 Hardcopy of Astonishing X-men. It's probably one of the greatest written X-men comics since the seventies.

Well, I personally wouldn't buy anything gamer related other than games themselves, but since you were looking to buy a comic shirt, I figured you might be interested in the Bungie store since it isn't too far off-http://www.bungiestore.com/productcart/pc/default.asp
Other than that, the only game I can suggest is Guild Wars.

What about Diablo: Moon of the Spider, Kingdom of Shadow or other of Richard A. Knaak's books? His books aren't that bad and writing style is kinda nice.

Finally, some one else who plays Fable!

Get him a fleshlight.
get him a watches, so he can learn about the important of time and hopfully does't waste too much time on playing game any more.
Heroes of Might and Magic V should be a really good game (depends on your liking), I'm not sure about how much it'll cost, though...

There's a demo if you don't care about the gift being a surprise.
For books, I'd suggest Dune, if he still hadn't read 'em. While Frank Herbert's Dune is the so great and awesome book of the series, you might buy him Dune: House Corrino instead. It has somewhat of everything in it... philosophy, science, religion, mass murder, spying, wars, space travel, grave robbing, black humor, cheesy texts, etc...

Um, yeah. Just because someone plays games, doesn't mean they do it every waking moment of their life?
I would suggest Guild Wars - it's a little old, but I believe the Collector's Edition is still around, which has a headset that lasted me a week or two before breaking, soundtrack and one of those folklore booklets that I hate but I don't know, he might like it.
Just my two cents, anyway.

Get him a fleshlight.I have to agree. I would have said to buy him a hooker, but from the description you gave he wouldn't know what to do with her.
Fleshlight will be his friend for life, probably. Best money you'll ever spend on your cousin.
