You mightn't have heard of this RTS, it isn't very well known, but this baby is beautiful!
It's pretty old, off the top of my head I believe 2002, but I might be wrong. It doesn't run on resources, but on towns that you conquer, and you recruit the villagers as soldiers, which in the end run out, forcing you to conquer more towns.
You play either as romans, germanic tribes or egyptians. The strategical depth comes from the terrain, heavy infantry can't cross marshes, pike men and cavalry can't enter forest, soldiers in forests are invisble except if you have scouts are on of your own groups standing there, archers can fire further from cliffs.
Soldiers are there in large amounts, you control them in groups of 60 (or 32 for the germanic dudes) and some have special abilities like legionnaires can form those turtle things with their shields.
I could rant on about this for ages, but I'll shut up now :D
Has anyone played this game? It doesn't have multiplayer but the campaign is a real challenge. If you haven't, I highly recommend it!
